The owner claims to belong to a "Royal" family. However, there is nothing royal in either her attitude nor this so-called hotel that is falling apart. Pathetic rooms, dirty bathrooms, unhygienic linen, no hot water, terrible food, I could go on.. Stay away from this place. It is located inside the fort and also close to street dogs, cows and stray animals. What a mistake to stay here!
The hotel is located inside the Jaisalmer fort so the construction / architecture is opulent and of grand royal style. However to enjoy this, a lot of hardships need to be put up with. First of all, you can not take your car inside the fort. So if there is luggage or you have old people with you it is an ordeal to reach the hotel. There is steep gradient to climb for a few hundred meters and then navigate through very narrow lanes inside the fort. The furniture in the hotel is old style but is very weak and cheap and may not sustain heavy people ( above 100kg) for the night. The hot water is not available. In the morning, we got only lukewarm water that for a very little time. The food was substandard ( mainly under-cooked) but breakfast was quite good. The views from galleries are excellent in the evenings. Also what was shocking was the attitude of the owner / host. Once we told her that we were not happy with dinner and hot water problems, she completely ignored us for the rest of the stay so much so that the our bills were settled by the servants. We had to carry our luggage to parking outside the fort ourselves as servants were not instructed to do so. Overall a very negative experience at Jaisal castle.
I booked my Jaisalmer trip through Ankita and as per her suggestion I chose to stay in wonderful property which is a part of Jaisalmer Fort and we got a chance to meet the royal family. Food was excellent. The staff was very friendly. Thank you so much for making our stay excellent.
We had a very pleasent stay in the Jaisal Castle. It is a beautiful royal family house, very nicely decorated, and with EXCELLENT food. The room was large and comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A special huge thank-you to Ali who took care of us so nicely and was willing to assist with any request. It's a strong recommendation!!
OK so I am going to talk about only the food part of this hotel.we stay in Jaisalmer and me and my husband being the die hard foodies we are try and explore new restaurants everytime we eat out.so this hotel was reccomended by a friend, and so we decided to give it a try.firstly the hotel is way way inside the castle that is a plus point for sure given the view but a minus for people with knee problems and oldies.secondly its a little difficult to find but once you find it you will be astonished at the architecture and look.its truly regal in every sense.we particularly liked the public area where they have heaps of silver vessels and some beautiful high end decor.the restaurant is at the ground as well as roof top level. We obviously chose the roof top.once seated the staff is very courtous and welcoming.thirdly the food...is to die for.the laal maans and ker sangri are as authentic as they can get.the food is prepared fresh and so does take some time but who minds that when you have a beautiful view and drinks to go with it.now there is a little problem Jaisalmer has an off season time which is basically summer season so food is not pre prepped and kept but if you go during the season time which starts end July you are bound to get fast service.do give this restaurant a try when in town you shall not regret
