Brilliant Brilliant

Great hotel, lovely traditional Jaisalmer sandstone building both interior & exterior. Great spacious rooms, tastefully decorated in boudoir style. Staff amazingly helpful & accommodating - we arrived late after midnight from delayed train arrival but manager who was asleep got up for us, was great, civil, showed us choice of rooms & even offered chai. Great rooftop terrace to eat or view sunset & famous Fort (view of Fort from rooms) next level down lovely restaurant with views of Fort through butterfly arches. Food very good (great stuffed aubergine). Good wifi connection! Very solicitous when I was ill from food eaten in another restaurant & the managers allowed us to stay on in our lovely room free of charge as our train wasn't until 5pm even though checkout time is 10.00am! Run by several cousins who were multilingual & spoke good English. Highly recommended. Will return.

Beutiful facade, average hotel Beutiful facade, average hotel

There are only two things which is good about this hotel. Its name and its facade. Inside you will find small rooms and stained linens. Nothing special about the location or view. Nearest attraction is Patwon ki Haveli which is around 800m away. When asked for a morning tea the reception said nothing will be available till 7:30am. When I asked again after 7:30, he said it will take time. There is a Sound System on hire shop just opposite to the hotel. During daytime one can expect high decibel music from there. Since we got the roadside room, it ruined our afternoon nap.

Not a palace, okayish hotel Not a palace, okayish hotel

Although this place calls itself a palace, it is a small 12 room hotel with facade of the forts. The rooms are large enough with good beds, few rooms have Jharokha. The primary advantage of this place is that it is close to everything. There is restaurant at top floor with a good view of the Jaisalmer fort. The restaurant is over priced for the quality they serve. Tea priced at Rs50 each is equivalent to an upscale restaurant in India but the service matches that of poorly managed restaurant. The room service staff are poorly trained. The hotel does not provide any dental sets in the room which is a common these days. The hotel provides for cheap soaps and shampoo so i will suggest that you carry your own. The hotel has water issues which is prominent and i will suggest that you always keep bucket of water full in the washroom for use when required . You may like to carry sufficient drinking water for yourself. There is car parking facility available.

Not a Palace.. Not a Palace..

and neither its a Fort but it's still a good hotel to stay. Not luxurious but rooms are decent. My friend's room with a double bed is spacious and my twin sharing room is ok with a bay window seat. The restaurant at the upper level has some nice seats for you to enjoy the door view especially on cool day. The roof top is spacious and I am sure people do enjoy their evening drinks there but we enjoy our sunrise as ti has a clear view of the Jaisalmer Fort. There is no lift to the upper level rooms but hotel staff will help you with your luggage. Hotel restaurant serve pretty good & reasonably priced food for our lunch & dinner. Just one problem as we were served with some mouldy bread for breakfast and after we told the staff we were given fresh bread.
