Great guesthouse Great guesthouse

by Levana C on January 11, 2018

Manu (the owner of the guesthouse) was easily reachable and let me know as soon as he had availability for us. He picked us up for free with his nice car at the bus stop - such a nice feeling when arriving tired in a new city. The room we stayed in was probably the cleanest we've had in India, with hot shower and functioning wifi. Manu and his staff was extremely nice, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. We booked a desert safari through Manu which was very fun and he gave us a good price, as well as bus tickets to pushkar. All in all was one of the best hotels we've stayed at in India - and a good price. Only complaint is the pricey (and not great) hot drinks on the menu, but really other than that the place is perfect.

Great rooftop review Great rooftop review

by Divya B on January 11, 2018

First, let me get the negatives out of the way - we drove there so the approach to the hotel was a bit of a disappointment. Its a narrow road with not much parking space. The rooms are decent (dont expect luxury). It was a bit dark for our tastes (we were traveling with a child) and the bathroom had no shower curtains so the whole place was wet after a shower. To their credit, they did their best to keep it as clean as possible. The positives - the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and prompt with everything (this was a big plus for us). We didnt do any of their tours but heard from fellow travelers that they were good. The rooftop restaurant is a very cosy place where you can easily spend hours (we did!). It has a nice view of the fort. Its not very close to the fort but in such a small city, distances arent an issue. In short, its a very nice place for backpackers/couples but maybe a stretch in terms of comfort if youre traveling with a child.

Excellent is the only word for Hotel Pol Haveli, Owner Manu and his Team. We travelled as a Family. PROS: Extremely warm and personalised welcome. Beautiful interiors, tastefully decorated rooms and common areas. Comfortable and authentic rooftop Rajasthani restaurant with Majestic View of the fort. You feel like sitting at the restaurant the whole day. Warm Bonfire in the evening. Delicious home made food, made to order even if they do not have any particular dish on the menu. You just tell them and they will cook it right away. Location is very near to all the major landmarks and tourist spots. You can walk down to almost all the place including the Fort and the main market. It feels very safe and comfortable in there. You can see lot of families and solo foreigners (females) there. Since the road for parking was narrow, entire team of 6 people came over to help me, despite the fact that I did not asked them for any help. All of them came over and started helping me from each and every nook and corner :) The owner Manu, is instrumental in making sure that each and every guest gets personalised attention and he keeps on checking with all the guests if they are comfortable and if there is anything else that he can help with. He takes great pride in his own personalised touch to the service and he successfully does it. If I ever go to Jaisalmair again, without a second thought, will go to Pol Haveli. Thank you Manu and team, for such a wonderful experience. Loved being your guests.

Perfect oasis for budget travelers Perfect oasis for budget travelers

I think the rooftop at Pol Haveli is the best place to spend your time with your friends. Not only it offers great view of the fort but the restaurant present there also provide good food. The architecture of Pol Haveli gives a glimpse of traditional Rajasthani house. They also provided free pick up from bus and train station. My desert safari started with a visit to a deserted village Kuldhara. Lucky was our guide during the whole desert safari. After that we visited a local village and get to meet the village people. Then we met our camel guide Vikram. He was nice fellow and we soon became friends. By the time we reached the dunes the sun was about to set. The view from the dunes are breathtaking. After that Vikram and other camel guides prepared tea for us. While having tea listened to music and had casual conversation with other travelers. I will always cherish the memories I made with those people and how much fun we had. Then we had a bonfire and I met with two more travelers from Bikaner. Then we all had dinner and slept under the sky full of stars. This was the first time I saw a shooting star. The safari could not have ended better without experiencing the insane driving skills of our jeep driver. Great hospitality from Mannu bhai. I would definitely recommend this place to all travelers and backpackers.

Demo Trip Don't opt for the standard rooms adjacent to the reception/stairs. Common noise can sometimes be your natural alarm at odd hours :)

Demo Trip I would recommend others to go for deluxe rooms of this hotel if you're planning for a 2-4 days of stay.
