Interesting Haveli in beautiful fort Interesting Haveli in beautiful fort

by 2crazy on December 30, 2017

We spent 4 nights at the hotel. The train from Ajmer was very late but we were still met at the station at about 1am as arranged! The hotel is a very old haveli down narrow alleys near the Jain Temple. It was a beautiful place with few alterations having been made. Our room, the Maharajah room, was huge with a bed with the best mattress we have ever slept on! The attached bathroom was big with hot water when needed, usually later in the day was better. We had breakfast across the road at Suraj Villas which was owned by a relative. The family were very helpful and we learnt a lot of the history of the haveli from the young adult son who was really interesting to talk to. This is not a 5 star hotel so don't expect luxury but rather a taste of genuine hospitality in an authentic haveli.

We had a lovely time staying here. The Haveli itself is a beautiful building, the most lovely we have stayed in. The location is fantastic, central but also peaceful. The family who run the hotel were helpful and interesting to talk to. We only wished we were here for a longer stay.

We were originally booked to stay 1 night and ended up staying 4 we loved it so much. We spent 3 nights in the junior suite and 1 night in the budget room. I recommend staying in the junior, queen or king rooms as they are beautiful. It feels like you are as part of history but with hot running water! The owners were extremely friendly and we loved chatting to them about the history. Opposite they have a rooftop restaurant with great food and drink.

Charming Family Run Haveli Charming Family Run Haveli

by Sanjeev B on December 11, 2017

We just spent 3 nights at the Hotel Suraj. We felt wonderfully welcomed from the moment we stepped in, having already received some helpful initial info by email. The property itself is fantastic. It is within the walls of the fort; looking down on the city from one side and directly upon the Jain temples on the other side. We had read some reviews about the state of the property (rundown, etc), so had some concerns about that. These proved unfounded (perhaps outdated). This is a very old building but it has been nicely maintained. If you want to stay in a 5 star palace, you should go elsewhere. The hotel is family run, and the three generations we saw were all extremely friendly and welcoming. Bottom line: this is a great place, and I would stay there again without hesitation.

True Heritage Inside Jaisalmer Fort True Heritage Inside Jaisalmer Fort

by Superboychao on December 5, 2017

After a free shuttle provided by to hotel to pick us up from train station and a short distance walk inside the old fort city accompanied by Harshad, we were astounded by the outside beauty of this haveli, and this feeling expanded as we entered our room. Wow, it is really huge and really a heritage style, not style, it is a heritage building. The family runs this place are warmest persons we met in India. The place is not luxurious but I ranked it among one of the best we stayed in India. There is a beautiful Jain temple right next to the haveli, the hotel is at the southern tip of the fort and the view from the rooftop is amazing, but the rooftop might need some renovation, maybe can become a place for the guests to have breakfast and meals in the future? Since it is a heritage building, the water heating system is kinda old, but it will take too much for them to relay the whole lines and stuff, so put up with it. The breakfast is served in a restaurant across the street.
