This is one of the best hotels in India. I have had better food and hospitality anywhere in India ( and i have travelled a lot). Each and every staff member is so polite and helpful. The thali they serve is their speciality. Every course of that thali is delicious beyond words. When in jaisalmer, this is the place to stay. If this rating had lore stars, i would give them that as well.
We have been staying at cheaper accommodations throughout our trip, however the value here is totally worth it. One of the nicest hotels we have stayed at. The only con is that you are stuck there for dinner, but of course that is also a plus for seclusion. Best breakfast of our trip. Rooms are impeccable. If you are thinking of splurging here, figure out a way and just do it.
Having returned from the small vacation over the last week, it has taken me some time to sit and pen down what to write & how to write
We reached Jaisalmer in the noon of 15th March and then onwards it felt like as though we were truly in an Oasis of the Speechless aura of Karan Singh, the Extraordinary Leadership of Nakul Hada & the Mesmerizing beauty of the Suryagarh Palace
Being Welcomed, First by the Royal Guardians of the Palace about 5kms before the Palace itself was the most amazing thing I have seen. This was followed by them escorting our car through the Thar dunes right into the Palace Main Gate with 2 old canons and a highly ornate door, where we were Welcomed Second time by the Royal Guardians mounted on the Camels.
The Royal Guardians mounted on the Camels escorted us to the main entrance where we were Welcomed Third time by the Traditional Drums. And lo behold, there was the handsome hunk of Thar Desert, Nakul Hada, The Palace General Manager was waiting right there to say hello with his two lovely golden retrievers Simba and Nala. Mind you this was the Fourth Welcome already and I was choking out of sheer pleasure as I had never seen or felt such arrival experience.
And this Welcoming was not yet over a little ahead after a small walk was a lovely girl waiting with the Aarti and Tiika Thali and Petals showering on us. 5 Welcomes in a span of 10 mins just got me overwhelming.
We were escorted to our room by Chander, who meticulously oriented the hotel and the room and left us alone quickly understanding very well that we had a bit of long drive and probably wanted to rest. But before he left, his thoughtfulness to ask us to send across some beverage and snack to munch on was the touching point.
We had a pot of masala chai which arrived in no time with some shakes for the gurls and a portion of Cheese Chilli Toast (ever green) and Samosa. Both were outstanding and the chutneys were fantastic.
Later in the evening we settled down in the outer courtyard for dinner and we had the company of Islam who took care of us literally throughout our stay. Varun, the Food & Beverage Manager had definitely done his homework and managed to take out our preferences. The evening started with a refreshing orange based cocktail but soon I shifted to my lovely Old Monk and then started the procession of food which marked the beginning of the Royal Suryagarh Thali.
The Royal Thali C1: Local papad with Yoghurt dip seasoned with curry leaves.
The Royal Thali C2: Tomato shorba with sabuthdana vada.
The Royal Thali C3: Hand pounded goat meat with local flavorings.
The Royal Thali C4: Cleanser... fresh lime with mint.
The Royal Thali C5: Asli matter... mouthwatering.
The Royal Thali C6: Biryani with Burrani Raitha, sea salt, fried Chilli and hand pounded onion (dhaba style).
The Royal Thali C7: Halwa, Kheer and fennel liqueur.
Finally, it was a good night call.
The next was to be a relaxing day in The Palace. We had our breakfast in the alfresco of Nosh. The breakfast spread was one of the most remarkable spreads with a hint of every flavor, from the fresh fruits to cutting chai, filter kaapi, fresh juice stations and the amazing spread of breakfast pastires. What I really like about the breakfast pastries was that they were all bite size hence one could easily avoid the wastage and easy to devour. With the lazy late morning by the Poolside and my gurlzz ended up having Pizzas. I was served a chicken tikka which was very soft and succulent but the highlight was the onion roundels mixed with mustard oil dressing and some finely chopped chillies. Very creative. My wife and I chose to have some yellow dal, a dry potato preparation and some rotis. The potato was simple and yet very interestingly tasty.
The evening performances on both days by Mehboob Khan was very good but the location, lighting and lovely canopies stood out clubbed with the service of alcohol and canapes.
The evening was spent in the all-day dining restaurant Nosh. The buffet was precisely what you call Farm to Plate. The desserts were to die for.
Later that evening was an icing on the cake while I spent some time with Nakul and Varun. The rest cant be penned down.
The housekeeping, horticulture and all the other support teams were like Phantom. Never to be seen but the work would be done before you could imagine.
Mr. Karan Singh, you have created a true Oasis in the desserts of Thar. Nakul, I know what it is to work Mr. Singh and kudos to have maintained such high levels of service delivery and product maintenance.
I will have to see you soon my friends.
I went with my Family at Suryagarh and have opted for their Holi package ( from 12th March-15th March 2017)..To start with it was the most mesmerising experience for entire family right from the railway Station pick up till the drop on 15thMarch. We lived like the Royals in these 4 days and have experienced the hospitality & Service of the highest order byff and management of the Boutique property which is 16 Km outskirt of the City towards Sam Desert.
We had a very nice Holi celebration and will remember it for life now..The Holi Brunch and the unlimited IMFL was icing on the cake and have enjoyed every bit of it.
Special mention here to Pallab from the F&B who took care of us at every meal we took at this Hotel ( 3 Breakfast, 1 Lunch and 2 Dinners) He was like the true host and was very quick to understand our gourmet requirement quite well,
Also the SPA which was part of the package was simply the best Massage we have ever had ..There was only one male Therapist & rest all were females..The Male Therapist who is also the Spa Manager was exceptional..Would strongly recommend anyone going for SPA to request him to do the therapy as generally he doesn't do the same and only does if someone request him to do the same.
Coming back to the Hotel Property which to my knowledge is one of the most sought after property among the Destination Wedding Planners since it has got everything for the grand wedding if one wants to spend more..The property as such is very scenic and has been give a Fort like look which is common in almost all the good property in Jaisalmer..One need atleast half a day to cover every nook and corner of the property and would advice all th plan their travel accordingly..So therefore instead of 2 nights we have stayed there for 3 nights which was sufficient and therefore we had ample time to explore the property.
We have booked a Signature Suit on the 2nd floor which has a small sitting area along with a good King size bed in the Bedroom which is good enough to put one extra bed which was included in our package. It also had a nice Luggage and Dressing area in between Room and the Bathroom which has saved us from the clutter had we put our luggage in the bedroom. The bathroom had a shower and a bathtub both and kid did enjoyed the bathtub to the fullest..
The only drawback was the indoor swimming pool which give a very deserted look and was not very well lit as well also the water was too cold to swim..so I do think that since the space is not a constraint the management should think of the possibility of an outdoor pool as well.
Last but not the least Mr Nakul Hada who was Manager of this property gives that personal touch to each and every guest which I have not seen in any property which I stayed so far..
Keep up the good work guys..Hope to stay with you all soon..
Thanks for the Hospitality extended.
Every aspect of this hotel was outstanding and exceeded our expectations. Whilst there is no doubting the very high quality of the hotel facilities we were particularly impressed by the professionalism , courtesy and friendliness of the staff. Particularly impressive was the hotels ability to recognise our business requirements and assist in helping us to achieve them. We have already spoken highly of the hotel to others and very much hope to return in the near future.
