Me and my wife have been backpacking around India. Other locations are great as well but we found Jodhpur to be the best. The welcome here is great and reminds me somewhat of a Riad (Morrocan style house). The rooftop terrace has an amazing view of the Fort. The room is clean, and the bed is comfortable and really big. You can hear some noise but that was due to our room being located on the ground floor, opening out onto the ground floor 'chill area'. Wi-fi connection is good, you won't get any bars on the rooftop though. The steps to climb up to the rooftop can be challenging which you will find with all Jodhpur places with great rooftop views. The best thing about this place was the genuine nice people and help we received from the staff. Kapil in particular (pictured below) was of great help. The food is cheap and the taste is good. Aloo parohta and chilli chips were my fav. Breakfast averaged at 200 rupees for both of us, about 2. An average dinner here was 500 ruppees = 5. They even have Shisha! We didn't know this until we saw other people smoking. There is no advertising to say they serve shisha and no shisha menu, so ask. Shisha was 400 rupees = 4.85 Shower was not the warmest but bearable and the pressure was not strong. First night I had to use hot water in the bucket and pour over myself which is how locals shower. Also there is minimal storage in the room but there is a bench to put luggage on. As we were backpacking, this wasn't a problem. Finally, King's retreat is located in the PERFECT spot. Walking distance to all major sites in Jodhpur...The Fort, Jaswant Thada, Clock Tower, Step Well. Would definitely stay here again and will keep in touch with Kapil!
