The best experience a solo traveler could have. The best experience a solo traveler could have.

When I reached Jodhpur, as I had not done any prior bookings, was roaming around finding the best fit hotel and my cab driver was kind enough to take me to hotel near to King's Retreat. I don't know why it seemed very welcoming. I went inside and found the best room I could imagine in this budget. And the staff there is really helpful. As my stay was of one day and was not able to join the bicycle tour, Kapil the hospitality incharge there took me to the heart of the city and showed me around in the best possible way. I actually felt that I was home. Thanks a lot guys. You people made my stay wonderful.

A lot missing from this hotel - be prepared A lot missing from this hotel - be prepared

As a frequent traveller to India, I have stayed in all ranges of hotels. I was greatly disappointed with King's Retreat. We booked a "Super Deluxe Double" room and requested a window and preferably balcony. I phoned during the day to confirm this and our arrival at 5pm. Hotel gave our requested room to another guest, leaving a choice for us between a dark ground floor room with windows or a room upstairs no windows. Rooms were clean with some extra furniture but stark and the hotel overall is tired. None of the rooms in the hotel have wifi or a telephone to call reception or the restaurant. Our room had no TV. These rooms are not Super Deluxe. We moved into a wonderful hotel with a beautifully decorated room next door with wifi, phone and TV for only 200 rupees more than King's Retreat.

Paradise for budget travellers Paradise for budget travellers

Paradise for budget travellers I was skeptical before visiting this place but the place exceeded my expectation. I felt like I was at a relative's place. Location: It is located in the heart of old city of Jodhpur. Mehrangarh fort is 10 min steep climb. Once you reach the entrance of Mehrangar, Rao Jodha park and Jaswant thada are 20 min walk away. Clock tower, Gulab sagar and Sardar market are 5-7 min walk. Tuvarji step well is a 3 min walk. Plus there are these beautiful rooftop restaurants like Jhankar Chhoti haveli, Raavla, stepwell cafe and cute souvenir stores all around this hotel. Food: This hotel has its own rooftop restaurant Dagley which has fantastic fort views. This restaurant has hookah and a little loud music going on in the evening. Some people might find it noisy but we loved the background music in our room :) Indian Food is very tasty. However their pizza require some improvement. Also they could add some more items like poha and Upma to their breakfast menu. Rooms: We stayed in Room no 1. The room is spacious and clean with comfortable beds and a big decent bathroom. However you can't open door or window leading to a small balcony as it directly overlooks the opposite house. Staff: The entire staff including the owner Vishal, manager Kapil and entire staff is extremely courteous and friendly. Kapil recommended different activities and popular food places nearby. When asked the way to Mehrangarh, he even accompanied us to show us the way until a certain point after which it was just a straight climb. They even have a bicycle city tour in the morning. Overall: If your are looking for luxury or fancy place then it's not for you but if you want to be in one of the houses in the heart of city and don't mind a little mess on the narrow bylanes then this is the best option. Would strongly recommend.
