our main purpose of stay was to see demoiselle cranes at khichan . Kurja resort is only 1 km or less from bird feeding place. Dining is excellent. They made very very good food. and thanks to Mr. Abhay . we stayed in January for 1 night. we saw thousands of cranes in Keechen. loved it. must stay for seeing cranes. next to bird feeding centre - there is house of Sevaram Malli Parihar - he allows tourists to use his house's terrace to watch cranes...and he offered good hot tea 2-3 times. we sat at his house terrace for like 2-3 hours . and its the best place to see cranes at a height.
Super location, great experience, room are too good and comfort area. clean room and noise free resort. must visit. Staff nice well good food Arrangements are good Desert view best to visit in winter.
We went to Kurja resort September 2016 so it was very hot weather. We stayed in a tent with a/c but at times it was still very hot. We were welcomed by the manager Mr Abhay Singh Bhati who was so helpful throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. At times the service was poor and we had to wait a long time for room service. But if we asked Mr Bhati it was dealt with immediately. We came out of season so only saw a few Demoiselle Cranes but the owner was kind enough to take us to meet Severum the gentleman who feeds the cranes. We had a cup of chai with him at his house and he showed us wonderful photos and newspaper articles about the cranes. A truly lovely man. The owner Chandaveer Singh was outstanding with his kindness and willingness to ensure our stay was special. He even took me to the hospital to see a doctor and get some medicine when I was unwell. He took us out for the day on the Jeep Safari and we were very lucky to see around 400 camels arriving at an oasis in the desert. Chandaveer walked for ages in intense heat so he could get a signal on his phone to call the herdsmen to bring the camels. A truly magical and memorable moment. They are at present extending the resort to make more rooms and a swimming pool. I would highly recommend this resort and would like to thank again the overwhelmingly kind owner Chandaveer Sing and the wonderfully helpful Mr Bhati.
The resort is managed by the very amiable and helpful Mr. Abhay Singh Bhati, who was available 24/7 for assistance, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for him. The resort itself is quiet and peaceful with spacious lawns, with rooms and a few tents surrounding. Unfortunately, the rooms were full when we arrived and we were allocated a tent that, although a good size, was extremely hot during the daytime. I am sure they would be fine during the cooler months but we were unlucky to be there during unseasonably hot weather. The only downside was the room service - we waited one hour just to get the menu one night and the orders were sometimes wrong and took forever to arrive, unless we asked Mr. Bhati to follow up. There were only a few Desmoiselle cranes there but one of the highlights was to meet Severum - the amazing man who feeds and takes care of the birds. It was his father that started the feeding some 40 years ago. Do take time to visit his house and read the many articles written about him and the work he does. Another highlight was the full day jeep safari, conducted by the charming owner Chanderveer Singh, who went to so much trouble to ensure we had a good experience - even to the extent of trudging over sand dunes in the blazing heat to get to a mobile tower so that he could call the camel herders to bring their camels down to the oasis to drink. And a wonderful traditional Rajasthani lunch prepared by local tribal women in the dhani. It was an unforgettable experience. All in all, highly recommended.
This resort is in Khichen which is the closest place to stay if I wanted to see the Demoiselle Cranes. The Resort has tents or one and two story lodges, my room was on the 2nd floor with a small balcony. The grounds are lovely and my room was spacious and even though it was very hot the ceiling fan kept it very cool, the bathroom was also large. One problem for me was that the pillows were quite hard so I had to ask the manager Mr. Abhay Singh Bhati if I could get some softer pillows which were delivered soon after my request. In the morning before breakfast was served tea and biscuits were delivered to my room so that I could leave before the sun cam up to see the Cranes flying in. It was just a short 2 minute ride to where they were flying in as the sun came up. What a breathtaking sight!! There were hundreds and as it got lighter more and more came flying in. The restaurant was large and comfortable and there was a covered patio if you wanted to eat outside. For me, even in the early morning it was too hot to eat there so I ate all my meals inside. There weren't many quests while I was there so the lunch and dinner menus were a la carte and not the usual Indian buffet. The service was attentive and the vegetarian entrees were very good. Mr. Bhati was the manager and he couldn't have been more helpful. The grounds are very well maintained and it was like an oasis in the dust of Rajasthan. I stayed for 2 nights and wished I had stayed an extra night just so I could have watched the cranes one more day.
