Oasis in the desert Oasis in the desert

by Vivekflyboy on February 18, 2017

Location It is located in the middle of nowhere. Next to khichan village and the its close to migratory bird watching site. Property It is actually an oasis in the desert. Phalodi is a remote village in rajashtan and the only reason why this resort exists is the bird watching site next to the khichan village. The resort is owned by the sarpanch of the village. They have managed to grow green grass lawns in the desert which I would say is commendable. Rooms The resort has big rooms with a individual rooms and sit out. Space is not a ssue and hence the rooms a big and clean. There is an option of staying in the tent if you wish to, however I opted for a normal room. The room has all the basics which on would require. Being a remote location everything is bought from jodhpur hence there is time lag, however the manager, Mr Abhay Singh is doing an excellent job in maintaining the resort. House Keeping Being a remote location the restaurant staff doubles up as the housekeeping staff. However I would rate them high and the service is satisfactory. Restaurant There is a restaurant in the resort. It has decent food. They can make food on order if you want and they can serve it wherever you want. I suggest if you visit in winters ask for a candlelight dinner in the lawn beside a bonfire. Great experience. Overall great service and staff. Fitness center Its a resort in wilderness so just go out and take a walk or run. Overall. Oasis in the desert. Kudos to the Manager and staff of maintaining the resort.

Lovely easy going place Lovely easy going place

I spent two nights at the Kurja resort & opted for a tent. Mr. Abhay Singh the manager and his staff go overboard in trying to make sure that you are comfortable in every way. The food was good home cooked food & I must say that I was surprised to get such good hot soup for every meal. You just had to ask for it & they made sure you had it. From the owner angle I think a little work has to be put into the tents. They don't zip up but have loops on the side with pegs on the flap . Not very safe or secure. One night I got up thinking there was a rat in the room, but a dog had got in . The window flaps in the toilet section should be inside the tent. I noticed that the flap had lifted up outside - probably the wind, but that meant I had to go out and put it down. But that said, I had a great two nights there. Comfortable & homely.

A lovely new comfortable place to stay set in peaceful countryside near the amazing demoiselle cranes of Khichan. Nice bungalows although lacking in character (could have been built in Rajasthani style). Blissfully noise free. Huge lawn, pool. Beautiful clean linen & duvet. My main criticism is the staff didn't alert us to the hot water switch in the bathroom in a long row of bathroom switches for ??. Hot water working on arrival. I noted solar panels on the main building. No geyser switched marked & being eco friendly we switched off all unnecessary switches so no hot water on a very cold day. I assumed the solar hot water had run out. Also has Swiss tents. Cheapest bungalow was RS 2800. Food quite good. Table tennis. Free Wifi in restaurant.

Excellent Place to stay Excellent Place to stay

I have stayed at the resort with my friends and we loved it for its setting and service. Nice people and easy access to the demoiselle cranes. It's close to village and still away from any crowd. It's peaceful. It's a very new property. Earlier Khichan didn't have any such place to enjoy peace and have easy access Khichan and it's heritage. One had to either stay at Bikaner, Jodhpur, Pokhran and plan accordingly only a few hours visit. Now with this resort one can enjoy a relaxed visit to Khichan village which has wonderful havelis of Jains, worth visiting. Would love to see this resort flourish. Hope they maintain the same quality of service and infrastructure.

our main purpose of stay was to see demoiselle cranes at khichan . Kurja resort is only 1 km or less from bird feeding place. Dining is excellent. They made very very good food. and thanks to Mr. Abhay . we stayed in January for 1 night. we saw thousands of cranes in Keechen. loved it. must stay for seeing cranes. next to bird feeding centre - there is house of Sevaram Malli Parihar - he allows tourists to use his house's terrace to watch cranes...and he offered good hot tea 2-3 times. we sat at his house terrace for like 2-3 hours . and its the best place to see cranes at a height.

Demo Trip All rooms are good, we liked being on the second floor for the morning and evening distance views.

by Arriba1985 on November 20, 2014

Demo Trip opt for the suite rooms ..they are at the corner and far away from the crowd. and is closer to the dinning area. The suite rooms have sort of an isolated lawn area in fort for private parties. So its ideal for a group of friends and families to chill out .
