Like a stay in a lovely family home Like a stay in a lovely family home

This was a lovely hotel. We were greeted by the wife of the owner in her beautiful sari, who was happy to sit down and chat so we immediately felt at home. She told us that she and her husband plus her parents-in-law all lived in the house and indeed the parents in law were having tea in the garden. Her husband arrived and told us all about his own polo ponies and suggested we visit the famous Jodhpur Polo Ground as there was a horse show on. We took his advice and though we couldn't see a polo match we very much enjoyed watching the beautiful stallions competing for a prize. We had a pleasant room above the courtyard and my husband took a dip in the pool though it was quite chilly in the evening. The staff were very efficient and courteous and we had a very nice dinner. A lovely stay.

We stayed here 3 nights, 1st night in a standard courtyard room and the last 2 nights in a Double Pool Facing Superior Room. The courtyard room was decent but definitely worn around the edgesa few scuffs here and therecould definitely use a spruce up. But the size and amenities were nice and it was a fine, comfortable room for a reasonable price. The Double Pool Facing Superior Room is a newer and much bigger room with a modern bathroom with shower and plenty of counter space and is more than you will need for a comfortable stay. If you are only staying a short time you might be pleased with the standard but for longer stays you might want to have the luxury of the Pool superior. Be advised that the pool is actually in the front of the hotel closest to the street (you will hear street noise) and the courtyard room is farther back so is actually in a much quieter part of the hotel. Both rooms had coffee/tea and kettle, a fridge and a safe, and 2 large bottles of water provided daily. The beds and linens were very comfortable, but in the standard room it was 2 twins pushed together. The Pool superior room had a king bed. There is a TV, a/c and plenty of hot water in both. The wifi was unreliable. First of all, it appears they use mobile 3G hotspots. Those are slow to begin with, then add 5 or so devices trying to use them at once, and you are going to get abysmal speeds. And indeed we did. At times they were speedy but it never lasted more than a minute or two. Then you were back to websites failing to load. Dont expect to rely on them to stay in touch. Breakfast was included but was very limited. Only regular sliced bread, no Indian bread, and the only made to order items were varieties of eggs. There were a few hot dishes like baked beans and chicken sausage and some cereals and fruits. The staff was wonderful, friendly and quick to help with whatever you needed. They knew it was our 20th anniversary and they gave us special mentions often about it and brought us a cake and a bottle of wine to our room! The location is not within walking distance to the Old City/Clock Tower but we had a private driver so the location served us well. The grounds are wonderfully kept and there many places to sit and enjoy them, (if you can tune out the street noise) For the price I found this to be a good choice and would recommend it.

This was a quick stopover on the road from Jaipur to Udaipur for us, and did the job well. It actually had rather more charm than I'd anticipated. The restaurant was good, the service friendly. Although we arrived too late and left too early to make use of it, the pool looked nice.

We loved this hotel. Everything about it was good. It is a lovely old Havali with a large beautiful garden and swimming pool, charming rooms and the staff could'nt have been more helpful. In the evening they lit fires and the food was good. The family who own it still live there so you feel as if you are a guest in a private house, We could'nt recommend it more

Just Right Just Right

Unfortunately we could only stay one night as Jodhpur had to be a brief stop over, hence 4 and not 5 star review. I am sure if we had stayed a couple of nights and got to know it better, Ratan Vilas would have got a deserved 5 star rating. Friendly, professional staff, great food, great service and a room to match
