The room alloted to us had a good view of the scenic beauty though there was some initial confusion about room availability. Inspite of using water sparingly, there was always acute shortage of water which is not very uncommon in any hill station where water had to be bought by the hotel.However, keeping the hotel charges in mind for a delux standard, the room space,furniture and ambience was average.The management was polite and helpful.Food was served on request, but we prefered outside food. "The China Garden" near motor stand serves excellent chinese dishes at a reasonable price. Try "Pravash Sweets" nearby for excellent hot vegetarian breakfast and other sweet dishes.

There is no restaurant in this lodge, they just have a kitchen room where they can cook only few dish if you order prior. Considering the reasonable place rest other things were fine.

Our room was not so great in looking, the interiors were not appealing. Also the bathroom was not cleaned properly. The staff member were very slow in their service. Altogether this is a below average property.

Location of the hotel is ok. Availability of water (hot and cold) was a serious problem. Service was not good, Rooms and bedsheets not clean. Overall, it was not a very pleasant experience.

I booked this lodge for two days. A monestry and a Kali mondir within walking distance. So location is not so bad. Main market nearly 1.5 km. So I have booked for 24 persons, all are my family friends and relatives. So I have booked lots of room. And have seen all rooms and bath rooms. Every broken window which freedge you at night. Rooms are small. All rooms are darty they never wash beds, bathrooms or even reception room. Bad smell comming from bed, bathrooms everywhere. Only 3 rooms are so so. But "aasli bat" came at morning...Water problem!!! I am not talking about "hot water" or "cold water"...talking about minimum water required at morning for toilet purpose. Not a single person got any water. So we have taken bucket and collecting water from ground floor. All stair steps are narrow and stiff. Originally this lodge has no basic infarstructure for tourisom business. I have visited Kasmeer to Kanyakumari but never faced this type of tourist trap. And it in my own state!!! Not recommend at all. I have so upset for booking this J P Lodge that I want to forgot those two days from my memory. This was happend due to not beliving others Review about JP Lodge. It was my fault.....

Horrible place to stay. No proper water heating in the bathroom. Very Poor Service and Dont recomend to any tourist by mistake. Match box sized rooms. Rude staff. Very unprofessionally run. Ambience needs a huge improvement.

I have booked 5 days and 4 nights trip with J.P.Lodge through Eastern Travel. In last 7 years I have gone to various places through Eastern Travel so I trusted their choice of selecting J.P.Lodge. On 21st Oct 2012 I reached Kalimpong and straightly headed for J.P.Lodge. No body was there at the reception. 1 Old lady came by and asked us to wait until the daughter of the owner arrives. We had to wait for 30 minutes until she came and we showed her our booking slip. Now came the nightmare when she asked the old lady to show us our room. We booked 2 tripple bed and one double bed room.The old lady first took us to the double bedroom and I was literally shocked to see the condition of the wall. Patches of wall paints are coming out in one side, the toilet was Indian (which really shocked me since we paid 2800 per night), the room was a bit larger than the bed, there is almost no space to freely walk till the door. I then asked the old lady to take us to the tripple bed room where more awful situations were waiting. When she opened the door we first checked the bathroom and Oh my God!!! they didn't even clean the bathroom after the previous boarder had left. The pungent smell of urinals were coming out from the room. There was NO water at all anywhere in the hotel. When I checked the bed I could see various stains and hairs which clearly states that the room never got cleaned up before handing it over to us. Then and there I called up Eastern travel and told them everything in details. I took the decision of changing the hotel right away and quite surprisingly when my travel agent called the reception the manager was blaming us that everything was perfect but we are still creating chaos. I got almost furious and then another Bengali couple came by and explained how terrible it has been for them to spent a night in J.P.Lodge. They were leaving as well. Thank God my travel agent trusted me and said they will refund the whole sum of money which I spent on the booking. I know the owner of Eastern travels and every time he has been so good at selecting the hotels but this time I really don't know why it didn't work. Even this time we had our connecting stay to Rishyap which was booked by him as well and the hotel was quite good with the view of Kanchenjunga. Anyways coming back to J.P.Lodge I would never recommend anyone to be there until they remarkably change the condition of the rooms and services. I am thankful to God that we could find a Resort to shift even at the peak season of Durga Puja Holidays.

They do not provide sufficient water to you. When asked they provided only one bucket of water for four people in a four bedded room. Rooms are full with mosquitoes and hotel owners do not know it and even do not accept it.
