We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days at Kanha. The locally sourced food was varied and delicious, and it was service with a smile from all the Kanha team who made our stay perfect.
It was fairly cold first thing in the morning but we were provided with blankets and a hot water bottle for the jeep.
All the naturalists are very knowledgeable - we had "Happe" and enjoyed his company enormously. It's tough finding tigers but we had 3 sightings (2 of them very good) but this makes it even more magical when you see one.
We'd certainly come back!
This property of Pugdundee Group is another classic gem in their collection. We stayed here for 3 nights. If one is looking for the jungle experience, then this is the property. The look and the feel of the property is such that i felt like i was staying in the jungle. The staff is also amazing and very courteous. I have given my reviews on various aspects as follows:
Stay - The cottages are huge with a huge patio where one can sit and just feel the jungle in front of the room. There is so much vegetation that it feels like a jungle (even though it is not). There is no TV in the rooms or in the common area. During our stay the wifi was also an issue and there was very limited internet and that too near the reception. The cell phone network is limited to a few places in the property. The look and feel of the property is very rustic and gives a very elegant look.
Location - The road to the property is terrible. One wont feel it while coming in a car like innova. But once after the safaris the jeep drops us to the lodge and then one can feel each and every muscle of the body moving. Also this property is 20-25 mins away from the main entrance gate to the reserve. This is the only downside. But i would still recommend this lodge.
Food - The food was very good and had an Indian taste. The head chef would be personally present and chat with the guest/ serve the guest.
Must do experiences - We had a lunch by the river side, evening tea at the sunset point, bonfire in late evening (during pre-dinner snacks), dinner with candles in the bushes (with fire also) and star gazing on the terrace in the night. Trust me, all these experiences were mind blowing. We had an entire day blank and did not have any safaris (i would recommend an empty day so that one can enjoy these experiences).
Others - The lodge also have a swimming pool, cycling facility, short trek (which we took) and kitchen garden.
They show a documnetary film every evening. They have books (mostly on wildlife) as well as scrabble and chess.
Safaris - I booked the permits on my own but regret not booking through the hotel. They have a wonderful team of naturalist who give a lot of information about the jungle. For the safiaris, the provide breakfast, blankets and hot water bottle. The hot water bottle is really helpful in the early hours when its very cold.
Overall my experience was amazing and i definitely recommend this lodge to people who are looking for peace and tranquility. I look forward to staying at the other properties of Pugdundee Group.

Nature is the best friend and you came to know when you spent some time in between the nature. When you found an ECO-Friendly Lodge with 7 star facilities and services with well trained, guest friendly staff-You claim it as a bonus. I am surprised with such kind of hospitality in between the deep Jungle. Pugdudee safari is excellent and I became the fan of this company. Great .
A gracious welcome, fine room, good food and terrific staff. Shortly after our arrival, we were treated to a very well prepared Indian dinner that suited all our diversity of tastes. Not ala Carte, but with the selections, that wasn't necessary for any of the three dinners nor breakfasts. Rooms simple, not sparse, and more than necessary for our needs. Tigers, though not in abundance, were seen on half of our safaris - a pretty good batting average and a total of about an hour of viewing, not counting those partially obscured by the bust.
We arrived at Kanha Earth Lodge to be met by the manager and his staff with a drink and
a smile - So it began: We have travelled alot and this Lodge is tranquil and beautifully furnished but what we were't expecting was the FANTASTIC FOOD oh my what a treat, it was devine, simple, well cooked Indian food, vegatables fresh from the garden and locally brought meat, "Prem" the Chef was taught by his mother,.
The Naturalist - 'Happy' ( thats his name) was always that, his knowledge of the park and species within was impressive, and not only that but he found us a Tiger in the wilds
He was as excited as us - it was not difficult to see that this was a man who loved and adored his job
Special shout out to to Vjay who was a throughly lovely man - nothing was too much trouble and he made sure that all his guests were well looked after
I have no hesitation in recommending this Lodge - you won't be disappointed
