My husband and me visited Kanha for the first time in December 2017 - and stayed at Pugmark Resort. We found the Resort after doing some research and reading reviews on the best places to stay - and Pugmark did not disappoint.
Location is a big plus - almost right next to the Park Entry Gate - which is great, especially when youre going for the morning safari and have such an early morning start! Also, its like living in the midst of nature - with birds, greenery, and lots of trees and foliage.
Rooms - Extremely spacious and well maintained with a separate dressing area - plus a balcony of sorts where you can enjoy your cup of tea/coffee.
Owners and Staff - Right from the time we called to book, Rahul helped with everything - from getting us the permit, arranging the safaris, etc which made it so easy for us - thank you! He and his family stay on site - and we had a few pleasant evenings catching up with the family as well - and they make you feel at home. The staff is lovely - Arvind especially took care of all our needs, and always with a smile on his face.
Food - Excellent, and they cook it to order - so individual preferences are taken into account.
Overall - Weve been to many resorts earlier across various National Parks and Reserves, and Pugmark is one of the nicest places weve stayed in. Another visit (or a few!) to Kanha are due - and wed definitely stay at Pugmark again and would recommend others do as well.
Recently (Nov17) I went on a family vacation to Kanha National Park. This was my 3rd visit during 2017. I am more familiar with Kisli, so didnt try Mukki side much. Eversince Bagira log hut of MP tourism was closed, we searched for alternative and my son finally identified one wonderful place called Pugmark resort. It has become almost my second home. It is a 3.5 acre property with 12 guest rooms (with AC, solar heater etc.); about Km from Khatia gate (entry to the park), an ideal place for a weekend retreat. Tariff is ranging from Rs. 3500 to Rs. 4000/- for a double occupancy, with all meals; which is quite competitive.
It is run by Mr. Rahul Yadav (9993861089), a very energetic young entrepreneur. He lives with his family in the resort and all the family members take special care of the guests to ensure you visit them again.
This time my wife fell sick due to exhaustion / hypertension. Nearest medical help available is Mandla (about 60 Km away). The whole Yadav family came forward to help her out of the crisis. Special salt free boiled food was ensured by Mr. Yadav; his wife checked her blood pressure every 2 hours. She also brought fresh fruits from their garden for my wife. All of them took extra care to ensure that my wife was fit for the morning safari the next day. It was indeed a very touching moment, well justifying our choice of a second home. We all will remain ever grateful to them for this act of kindness. All we could offer in return was an invitation to stay with us in Kolkata to see millions of urban tigers jostling for space.
Additional attraction of the place to us is the trip to forest and Tigers of Kanha. Mr. Nurul is the manager of the resort. He drives the gypsy for our safari as a special gesture. He is very knowledgeable and a good photographer too. Tigers of Kanha need no words to describe, their pictures will speak. This time we saw a very rare sight two tigers head on. The one near us was the male. It was not sure if it was a friend or foe from a distance. It was getting ready for a fight. The female one from other side was a bit nervous & slowly coming forward. Both were undecided whether to fight or make love. Finally coming close they recognized each other (husband and wife). All tourists watching breathed a sigh of relief, as there was love and no fight. The guide told us a very very rare sighting that was. So everything clicked in this trip, except a bit of health concern.
Reaching Kanha (Kisli) is rather easy. We take early morning flight from Kolkata to Raipur, reaching Raipur by 8:00 AM. Mr. Rahul Yadav arranges our pick up from Airport (Innova or Ertiga). We reach his resort by 1:30 PM ready catch up afternoon safari at 3:00 PM. The return flight is at 5:00 PM from Raipur. The resort arranges drop to Airport, leaving the resort by 10:30 AM. Thus if we start from Kolkata on a Thursday and return on a Sunday we can easily make 5 safaris; which is good enough for any tourist (not a professional photographer) to enjoy the flora and fauna of Kanha National Park. Forest entry must be done by the tourist well in advance. This can be done online 120 days ahead from MP forest dept website forest.mponline.gov.in. Original photo ID as mentioned in the forest entry should be carried, otherwise entry to forest may be denied. It is essential for all tourists to carry essential medicine etc. while visiting a forest.
After 10 long years I visited Kanha National park and as usual Kanha never fails to excite me everytime.Stay at Pugmark hotel was a relaxing experience.Nestled in the lap of nature and surrounded by jungle and villages all around ,Pugmark resort is a nature lover's paradise. Also the staff and little Sravi(daughter of owner mr Rahul Yadav) provided us with living comfort and warm food and lot of fun.
I have stayed in this resort couple of times before as well and last I stayed there from October 30th to 1st November with family and enjoyed the stay very much. This is very calming and noise free resort with great ambience, landscaping, and walkways. They got Great swimming pool which is build such a way on elevated floor open air which gives good privacy for guests enjoying pool.
The evening and morning tea coffee before morning safari and after evening safari add to the guest comfort. Enjoyed the evening fold song performance as well along with evening tea coffee.
Would love to visit this place again and highly recommended.
It was an excellent experience to stay at "Pug Mark Resort Kanha". The ambience at the resort was great with neat, clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff at resort were friendly and helpful.
Food at the resort was delicious. It was an excellent experience to stay so close to wild life as the resort is minutes away from the core area of National Park.
Most important the safari. It was an awesome experience. The jungle was beautiful and it was great to see animals in there own habitat. It was great to have Me. Rahul with us as the knowledge shared by him was priceless.
