I visited Anantya during last weekend with my family. We chose to stay in Siddi cottage room which comes with a private pon and sit out area. Additionally it has a open bathroom like a waterfall attached to your room. Anantya has very well equipped staff who are very customer centric. Pool instructor Aiyyappan or the restaurant staff Raj, ensured all our requirements are met. The Chefs of this resort are talented as well. They tickle your taste buds. Children will enjoy the stay as it has quite a few activities for them to indulge in like swimming, volley ball, cycling...Etc Overall a must visit place for all.
It was great idea for our group of Guindy Engineers -class of 1964- for a peaceful and serene two days reunion amidst nature on the shores of the Chittar Lake. lot of opportunities for trekking around the resort, clear swimming pool, well appointed cottages for relaxing and refreshing ourselves. A great restaurant with choice of local. Other Indian and international dishes and a well-equipped spa to rejuvenate ourselves and to emerge from the resort to face the rigours of the outside world . As senior citizens all of us enjoyed the stay - the enjoyment enhanced by the helpful management and staff!
I was here for my brothers wedding. The property is easy to find and away from the hustle and bustle of city life. If you really want a break from work, this is the place to be. They have 21 very spacious cottages with all amenities like large LED TV, cable channels, toiletries, etc. in good/well-maintained condition. The lake view was awesome with a sit out surrounded by a lotus pond to enjoy the evenings. The shower had the right amount of pressure which is very unlikely in most of the hotels these days. If you are into photography, do carry your DSLR. Without having to get out of the property, you can take a good amount of snaps. Keep a watch out for some unique birds all through the day. Food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was very good including the portions. Now coming to the caveats! If you are phone addict, then you better pick up a BSNL sim card as that is the only network that works in this area. There is free WiFi but the concept of having a new username and password generated everyday is a pain. It would have been nice if it was valid for my entire stay or additional passes were given so I can use one everyday or at least a new pass slipped under my door every morning like a newspaper. I prefer to check my mails first thing I get up and if I have to make a call to the reception and wait for some one to get it, it's a no-no for me. The only complaint my wife had was the lighting inside the room/toilet was not adequate to do her makeup. She had to stand near the window to get some good light even during day time. Despite these two small issues, I will definitely visit the property again. Coming to the reason why I gave just 4 stars. The spa experience was like a champaign with no fizz (completely flat). If it was only me, I would have given 5 stars and moved on but I heard the same comment from four others who went for the massage. Of the five, four have experienced massages both in India and abroad and this was definitely the worst. I normally long for the feeling post a good massage session and I did not get even 0.1% of it. There were two guys doing the massage and neither had the right amount of pressure and neither knew any of the pressure points in the head, back and leg. Their only objective was to empty a full bottle of oil on us. Also the usual practice of selecting the right oil based on our body temperature and/or lifestyle was not done here. It was the same oil which all of us got. Apart from feeling oily and having to take a shower twice, there was nothing else. A piece of advice to the management, its not the quantity of oil that matters. It's the right oil and quality of application that matters. Provide a 10 min complimentary massage to your guests. If they like, let them go for the full package.
We decided to take a short weekend break at Anantya, since I was visiting Trivandrum on a business trip. I found it to be the right place to unwind & do just nothing except relax. No distraction at all, so much so that even your mobile takes a holiday !! ( due to poor network ) Excellent Cottages. Very spacious & well maintained. We had stayed in a " Siddhi " cottage, which was one category above the base level. Very hospitable staff. Fabulous view of the lake. The Ayurvedic Spa was just too good offering relaxing massages by well trained therapists. Nice Infinity swimming pool. On the whole a very relaxing holiday.
My family visited Anantya this past weekend. We were in dire need of a break and wanted to spend some time without phones buzzing, homework or office deadlines. Anantha was the perfect choice. Beautiful location, scenic views, warm and friendly staff and food that really makes you forget all those new year resolutions to lose weight. The rustic cottages are a lovely blend of indoors and outoors. We had such a wonderful time and came back rejuvenated! There's plenty to do inside Anantya (massages, a lovely pool, a plantation walk and more) and lots of day trips from there that the super helpful staff are happy to organise for you. We took the children to the Padmanabhapuram palace and also went for a easy trek nearby. Ask the front desk, they're full of ideas! Also must mention, how beautiful it is to sit and sip chai and watch the leaves fall from the trees! So meditative and zen!
