Hands down, the most beautiful retreat we could have picked to end our 9 day India excursison. Hands down, the most beautiful retreat we could have picked to end our 9 day India excursison.

The highlights: Excellent, attentive service from the moment we stepped out of the taxi. we were greeted by Glawis who patiently explained our villa and room set up, toured the property and confirmed our spa reservations. Rooms were spacious and even more beautiful than we saw pictured on line. Everything was very comfortable and calming without being over the top fancy. The grounds were immaculately manicured and there was always some attentive caretaker sweeping or brushing or washing down something. We were able to enjoy all three dining choices and found the Latitude to suit everyone in our parties tastes, without fail. Numerous inquiries to the ASK desk were met by many willing representatives to coordinate, taxis, travel tickets or tours or information. The beach is beautiful and the sunset did not disappoint. We even had to extend by a day at the last minute and they were very helpful. Excellent choice, the whole family of 5 (3 adult children) had activities and quiet space to indulge in the lovely backwaters.

poor relation with guests poor relation with guests

disappointed with the hospitality shown by the relation manager the room was not upgraded although i have gold epicure plus membership card & upgrade vouchers & it has come to my notice that the promises made to us were not fulfilled whereas the other guest received the upgrades. there was lack of proper communication between the booking team & the hotel staff.

Almost there. Service could be better Almost there. Service could be better

The location is simply beautiful. Very calming, with the sound of the waves, yes 'Sound of the waves', it is that close to the shore. My villa was facing the sea and the view was one to die for. For the villa itself, it was a very well designed villa, with heated pool, a gazebo next to the pool, open shower and everything else that you'd expect from a luxurious villa. It was an official trip and I must say that the arrangements that they had done for the whole group was praiseworthy. The dinners, the bonfire (which couldn't be done at the shore because of high tide), etc. were all planned and executed well. The only thing that left somethings to be desired was service/hospitality. They can work on that. Otherwise, it was a very relaxing and memorable experience. Planning to go again with family.

Luxurious resort in a very humid town. Luxurious resort in a very humid town.

Lovely welcome with garland/cold towel/drink and speedy check in. We met the manager Mr Gaurav on the first day and he was very helpful. Coming in Late Jan Early Feb= Very hot and humid therefore a sensible balance of indoor and outdoor activities is a must. The property itself is very luxurious. The villas are really nice. We had a premium indulgence villa with plunge pool. Daily dip in the pool is very refreshing especially mid morning when the humidity increases. The service was usually very spot on e.g. we would pop out for few hours and return to find our beds made and various flower decorations created for us which was a lovey surprise. The garden has a nice swing and even out door shower and tub. Room was nice, mosquitos were never a problem even with ground floor stay because there were adequate mozzy plugs in the room. Breakfast is included and the selection was outstanding for vegetarians. Food is otherwise very costly e.g. lunch dinner and you have to pay additional for extra meals. Fortunately due to level of heat demand for food is reduced. There are also some costly excursions e.g. taxi and guide/lunch to plantation visit. There are numerous other additional activities for a price. We went for the guided cycling to Bekal Fort and Bird watching which we thoroughly enjoyed and price was about par. Another highlight of the trip was the lovely beach and evening sunsets. The walking distance is a short 5 minute stroll. Towels deck chairs are all very comfortable. There are friendly staff available to assist plus they provide some recreational activities e.g. ball games/kite flying on request. There are a few bug bears regarding the stay. Lighting in the rooms although designed to be permanently romantic do not give options for white light therefore the rooms are persistently dimly lit. We had to request an additional standing lamp. The Air conditioning is a little strange and only adjusts to within a set temp range so even though AC is always on you can still feel hot in the room and we called out for AC service a couple of times. We would have loved to use the personalised massage service but were put off by the high cost. A complementary taster session might have got us interested particularly as the reception ACs were not working and there was no real incentive to give something a go. The Sauna room was a little smaller than expected for a 5 star hotel. Both steam /sauna and Jacuzzi were good.

Our first visit to this place. Travelled as a family of 5.Breath taking views all around. Beautiful lobby. We had the villas with plunge pool. Totally enjoyed it. Go for it if your budget permits...worth the money. Easy and quick access to what feels like a private beach..very few people around. Saw some fishermen catching fish the traditional way.The pathway to the beach is well lit in the evenings. Could spot quite a few bird species around the back waters. You can go around on bicycle. Fun way to explore the place.Hospitality met the expectations from a Taj property.Decent buffet spread both at breakfast and dinner. Quick and prompt service all around. Had the company of a toad at our dinner table. Tried to coax my princess to kiss it(considering that it was Valentine's) efforts were rewarded with a classical case of 'rolling eyes'. Overall, fun stay, great location, well appointed rooms and ever smiling staff. Have to say...Wah Taj!!

Demo Trip Our villa had a private path that walked out to the backwaters. A sea view might prevent the privacy that I appreciated.
