Peaceful Oasis in Himalayas Peaceful Oasis in Himalayas

by Rajeevchopras on March 14, 2017

Kasauli has always been one of my favourite places. When I need to unwind and rest in total peace this is where I go. On my first visit to Kasauli I chanced upon hotel Ros Common. Since then I have never stayed at any other hotel there. The hotel has a nice property with lot of open space and panoramic view of the Himalayas. There are only 6 rooms now - the lower portion where there were 3 additional rooms including the large suite are now being rebuilt in to more rooms. This is a very peace full place to stay in. The rooms are nice and comfortable the staff is very help full and courteous. The most important thing is there are no crowds and it is totally peace full. From the varenda out side our room the sunrise what a beauty to watch. Have been coming here and will continue to do so. If you like to spend time in the mountains in peace then visit Kasauli and this hotel and you would come back rejuvenated. enjoy your travels - be blessed Cheers

Wonderful place to relax away from maddening crowd. Mainly a defence area so no nonsense zone. Very windy and extremely scenic. Ross Common a 160 year old British Bunglow now converted in to a HPTDC Hotel. Rooms are enough to stay and some do not have a window but that is well managed by wonderful outside lawns and open places. Water in some rooms are bit problematic. The upkeep of rooms and furniture are definitely not as per the charges you have to pay for. Bathrooms are okay with limited and poor quality hand wash soap and towel. Bed and linens are falls short of expectation. Food served in the restaurant is good but costly comparing to its standard of accommodation. The lawn outside is very attractive with best of the views. Good sunny day you can see the Himalayan range clearly from the lawn. Again the Himachal State Tourism department displays its callousness in developing such brilliant sites all across the state. Extremely poor in conserving the environment.

I've been to ross common a couple of times now. Since i stay from about an hour's journey from kasauli, its always a same day return trip. So we have always dined there and didnt stayed there till now. The food is great. The garden next to the mountain edge provides excellent view while aving food. The washrooms can be considered as OK and are pretty much clean. They have a parking so you dont have to walk till there. Minor issues: - Beverages are not served properly. sweet lime water/soda glasses leaves you with sugar-sticky hands. - coffee/tea spilled to the edges of cups. - Pls take mineral water to drink. The drinking water smells wierd always.

Near to Delhi ~ 300 kms...good roads. Good for a couple of days away from hustle and bustle of Delhi.. Ross Common location is good...but food is quite costly.. Staff are helpful. Credit card payment is possible.
