Location : On the Kashmir Road. Near to Railway station but away from the heart of the town. Area is not posh nor impressive. Front desk : We reached at 4.00 pm. Staffs cordial. We were allotted a room instantly but asked to wait for the room to be prepared our use and it took 35 minutes to make the room ready for us. Room : Four bedded roadside room. One ceiling fan in the middle of the room and cots. Not sufficient at all for four persons. Only two 8w CFL lamps not properly enlighting the entire room. Geyser was not working in room no. 201 and that was reported to them at 6 pm. They immediately send a man to check. He suggested to wait for 15 min. to get hot water. After 30 min. we again called him up. He further suggested to wait for 30 min. more to get hot water but to no avail. And the man vanished after that despite repeated reminders. At 9 pm I met Mr.Prince, manager, and requested him for another room. He promptly agreed to it but provided the room 301 at 10.15 pm after cleaning etc. Cockroaches were found in all the two rooms I entered and bathrooms are visibly having termites also. Mirror in bath of 301 was half broken. Linen : Smelly poor quality linen. Towels & soap provided on demand. Towels are also not cleaned and smelly. Food : No food is prepared in the hotel nor they have any restaurant. Only tea, milk etc is provided from hotel. Food is arranged from opposite side dhaba (a shanty) through waiter. Though waiter would say that it was procured from good dhaba of nearby market area. cleanliness : Passages and stairs are clean. But in my three days stay they never came for room cleaning. Room service : When asked in the first day they admitted that mosquito was there and they provided a coil at night. Still we felt presence of mosquito whole night. Second day despite our several reminders from 7.30 pm, till 10 pm, one guy at reception told me at 10 pm that when no other boarder is asking for coil why I am asking for it and that is also at 10pm. When I told him that I had been asking for coil from 7.30 pm, he said it will take another 20-25 min. time to buy the same from market. Finally they provided it at 10.55pm. Third day I didn't asked for it as I checked out in the evening. Transportation : Mr.Prince dropped us to helipad by car at 8.30 am happily and didn't charged for it. Next day also car provided free of cost to drop us at main market. Generally at Katra, hotels provide free pick-up and drop services from station even for one night stay. As they provided two free drop services, I hope, they didn't provide railway station drop service on the check-out day. So I arranged it of my own.
