They could write on their entrance -"Foreigners Only" - that would at least give the Indian guests a reason not to book the hotel. One could easily make out the service and housekeeping differences between an Indian and a foreigner guest. The towels and blankets given to us were pathetic with holes in them like the ones the street beggars use. The owner is a clever businessman with a huge clientele of foreign guests whom they cater to and not bother about the rest. All-in-all, we found out that there could be better options for us to stay in Khajuraho.

This hotel is very close ( walking distance) from the Western group of temples and this makes it very sought after hotel. There are number of eateries, in the surrounding place, as well. The rooms are good and spacious. They had provided an extra bed as well. The bathroom is also spacious and fitted with bathtub and hair drier. Rooms are worth for the money being paid - suitable for the budget travelers (backpackers). They have good courtyard with artificial pond and plants. The courtyard is also being used for the restaurant. Although the entrance of the hotel is little clumsy, it is quite big, inside. I felt like, service of the people is little laid back. For instance, even after providing tip to one of the attendants, he did not bring us drinking water on multiple requests. At last, we only had to go to the reception with water bottles and get them filled up. There are mosquitoes (not in large numbers) and we requested repellent in the reception. Although committed, it never reached us. Hot water is provided from a central boiler and is delayed. We did not received it till 8 AM in the morning. May be, they provide better service to the foreign tourists which frequent this hotel. They had provided us some extra hours for checkout and also helped us by keeping our luggage in a locked room till the time we left the hotel. This is a very suitable hotel if you are looking for just a room to spend the night, considering that you would roam around Khajuraho during the day time.
My wife and I (60s) are on a trip using an Indian Railways 3 week pass. We are familiar with travel and conditions in India for independent travellers. We had pre-booked 2 nights via agoda.com based on price and reviews on various sites. Frankly, I think the reviews are grossly flattering to the point of being misleading. The quality of many rooms was poor and not good value for money even at backpacker level. As the hotel was almost empty we were able to get a room with a shower on the top floor overlooking the garden. The quality of the breakfasts was acceptable. The location is very central which was a positive. The hotel arranged for a car to take us to Mahodi train station (Rps 2300 for 2 hour journey late evening; the driver was very good.
The minute we walked through the door at Zen (late after a delayed train) we were made to feel welcome and were treated to a relaxing drink and sample massage. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made sure our stay in this lovely peaceful hotel was relaxing and we wanted for nothing. I recommend the Ayurvedic massage which was an extra but really was worth the money. We were also taken out to have a meal with a local family cooked around a fire at their home - a great experience you will not get elsewhere!
Stayed for 2 nights. Good but not excellent. Yes, there are bugs in the room but not a major problem. This is India country side. 7 min walk to Western Group of temples. The owner Mukesh speaks good English and accommodating. The morning staff person behind the front desk made excellent effort in helping me coordinate safari tour on the same day even though generally they are reserved the day before with the tour group (my train arrived late).
Clean and tidy rooms and a beautiful garden area. In a really great location, just a few minutes walk from the Western temples (main ones in Khajuraho). Staff are really lovely and helpful. Had a great stay here and would definitely recommend.
