I had the worst experience at Kodai cliff club. Let me explain the entire 2 hellish days. This place is situated in an inner place and with various sign boards we reached the place. We saw the reception room but no one was there. We called the phone number which we got after booking through goIbibo. The guy who took it gave another number and after calling that number they said to come to a different place. We were very surprised as the pictures in goIbibo were same as the place we were standing at right now but still we were tired and wanted to just get checked in. so we went to the new place which was "hill view" hotel in nadaipuram. They showed 2 well maintained hotel rooms which resembled lodge rooms. We were very disappointed as the money paid by us was with the assumption that we will be staying in a neat, decent place with promised amneties. When we told the same and demanded some refund as compensation, the hill view representative said that goIbibo is already intimated about this change and thats why even though the pictures are of old place, the address was different. I understood it was just a lame excuse from them as no one from goIbibo told me anything in this regard and also the expectation that a person who has no clue about kodaikanal is expected to know the address and not the pictures given in site seemed very stupid.However after some discussion he made some phone calls and informed us that rooms are available in the actual place. We then again travelled 10 km back to the place we started. They gave 2 rooms (D block)which were at the top of the all the places. A steep flight of steps led us to the D block. No one assisted us with our luggage. On seeing the rooms, we were devastated. There was basically nothing in it. No pillow, no geyser, no blankets, no towels, no locks on windows, no tv, no soap, nothing!!. I went back to reception and asked for all this and he apologised for everything and asked us to "adjust" for the day and promised he will give new room in block B or C next day. We didnt have any strength left and decided to just get punished for blindly believing the pictures available in "Goibibo". There was no phone to call reception area from room. For every thing, I had to go down to reception and ask for the update and then climb back the entire steep steps. This happened multiple times. The staff even though polite, was not able to deliver any of the promises and finally he even went to the extent of asking me to carry a tv set from below to the room as the place was under staffed. I realised I made a very big mistake!!.We slept the night without even having a pillow cover and the pillow was thick and had big stain marks all over it.(excuse given was laundry didnt come back that day) We didnt get hot water to take shower and I ended using cold water to bath(at late night). Hoping the first day wont repeat, we asked for the break fast and the reception guy said it will be coming soon. I had to go out many times, to get an update on our break fast and it was by 11 am that they were able to give 2 idlies and 1 uthapam as break fast!!. Our plans to visit many places of kodaikanal was affected by their late service. We just wanted to get the hell out of the place but felt like being forced to be there as there wont be any rooms available at the last moment in other resorts for an affordable price. They however changed the room for us and gave 2 rooms in B block. Since we knew what can be expected, we just decided to go through with the second night. Next day we were so happy that we were going to check out and head for the next destination. We made sure to get the breakfast as early as possible(this time it was just one slice of bread omlette). While checking out, the reception guy said breakfast was not complimentary and as I was about to call Goibibo and get them involved, he made some call and said the breakfast is included. This is the terrible experience we had at "Kodai Cliff Club". I just wanted to point out that the staff was very polite because every single time i confronted him all he said was " I am really very sorry, we dont have enough staff to cater everyone's need. Please adjust". As a customer who paid decent money to have a great time with family, I cant sympathise with the staff as I feel they should have stopped their bookings if they felt they cant handle the guests!.
