Getting there: After arriving at kolkata, took a prepaid taxi (Rs 100) from howrah station to esplanade area. Gave the hotel location address to the driver but he was not aware of it. We asked a few people after reaching esplanade area but they also did not had any idea. Then I connected to the hotel staff and he provided directions to the driver. The hotel surrounding: The hotel is off the main road and in a shabby street. If you are with your family, as I was, you are bound to be worried with the environment and surrounding. Not sure why this hotel has such good reviews. The hotel: The hotel in the 2nd floor and there is a strange looking elevator that you have to be on to get into the hotel. The elevator can anytime break down. The reception had the manager named Aftab, who is a good guy and provides answers to your queries. The room: But the room had lot to desire of. It was small and had a balcony looking into the street. The bathroom was decent but the biggest worry is the amount of noise that your get in the night. The kind of people making noise in the night will ensure you have sleepless nights. Good things: The chandni chowk metro is nearby and there is a good veggie restaurant named 'Anand' where in you could savor some south indian food. The breakfast: The morning breakfast is complimentary where in you can either opt for bread omelette or puri bhajji. But not of the best quality. Overall Experience: All in all not a good experience.

Believe I had a hard time finding this hotel in Chandni Chowk Calcutta, but it was a good stay close to the main road and 4 kms from Park Street. The hotel lobby looks like a place for boarders / backpackers and I didnt expect much when i walked in and the reception place is really small. All said and done, I got a nice double bed ac room with functioning cable , ac, wifi and the room was clean and thats what i wanted. However the overall feel of the hotel is of the ultra budget type but its worth the price point. I am not too sure about room service as I just stayed a night but they get food and all to your room. Chandni Chowk is a crowded market place and food joints are all around with the famous Amenia biryani restaurant just below the hotel which is on the 2nd floor. All in all a nice budget place more suited for solo guys like me or 2 travellers, however I am not too sure if this is the place for large families. One thing for sure is that the hotel has to improve the inner lighting of the rooms as it looks very dull. The good thing is that they have a nice balcony for outside viewing of the street.

Good budget option for Kolkota. Good budget option for Kolkota.

by Dannyxb on November 21, 2017

The standard of budget options in Kolkota is very poor in general. I've stayed in a lot of places around Sudder Street / Marquis Street that are much worse that this. All the comments previously made about the lift are true. Many of the rooms are tiny too - but the deluxe rooms are actually pretty good. There is only one room like the picture in the advertisement with a sofa etc. However Aftab the Manager is extremely helpful and his staff are friendly and accommodating. You need to specifically request hot water if you want it giving 20 minutes notice. It's relatively clean for a budget place and has an excellent location away from all the other cheap tourist spots, but close enough to walk to them. Breakfast doesn't start until after 8 and after 9 some mornings which could be improved on. You might be able to get tea and toast if you have to go out before 8.30 am. It's difficult to find at first. Get to Gate 3 of Chandni Chowk Metro Station. Imagine coming out of the station - turn right and right again into the next side street ant it is about 10 doors down - red sign 10 metres above ground level. Finally - the Wi-Fi is free and pretty reliable.

It is a LODGE and not a hotel. It is a LODGE and not a hotel.

It is a LODGE and not a hotel. The room size is very very small and is over before you know it.The lift is very small and can barely accommodate one person. Not a place for families for sure. Please stay if you are on a tight budget.

Awfully small lift, darkish but large room Awfully small lift, darkish but large room

by Panthokanai on May 28, 2017

The Lift. OMG the lift is awful, one person could barely stand in there with one luggage. And were 5 ppl with 6 bags. Rooms were dark, not particularly very clean, OK type. Bath room was shabby. The hotel had seen some good day in distant past, but now not a good place to stay. Was cheap in AGODA, so booked, had free breakfast that we didn't avail. Staff was quite good, rooms were big. Close to New market, still had to taxi tho, so didn't do us much good. Has a low-mid range restaurant below, food was OK. All in all wont go back, not with family anyway.

Central location Central location

by KCezan on May 3, 2017

i stayed for a single night towards the end of my trip in Kolkata and wanted to be near the city. it's in chandni chowk street so decent location, about 1-2 min walk from the Chandni Metro Station, the rooms were priced a little higher than others. The basic room i stayed was tiny (maybe just 6ft wide) compared to the rates and unfortunately near the elevator & staff room/pantry so noisy. i had initially booked though an online booking site and the reception did not have any information regarding that...the misunderstanding was eventually cleared up but it seems staffs do have clear communication between themselves and expects the guest to clean up the mess. Not a good impression. i liked it only due to the location, there are many modes of easy transport- walk, metro, auto, cab or buses.
