Spent 5 days at the hotel for a wedding. The rooms were clean and the service was friendly, efficient and very responsive to our needs with a proactive approach. The food offered @ K19 showed adequate variety to cater to our needs and the quality was wonderful. Thanks Park Plaza.
Stayed at the Park Plaza hotel, recently taken under management by Radisson. Located in a fully residential locality, easily accessible from city centre and well connected. Stay was good, newly refurbished rooms.
Breakfast spread is decent, value for money all through
Been busy at work, got an opportunity to venture out to Kol on business. Proximity to town and my budget got me to this property in the central Kolkata, which is a Radisson property from 26 Dec 17. Like always my idea here too is not to critique but put forth suggestions for improvement albeit at no extra charges to the management.
Neat, well kept and positive air welcomes you. Entire Staff is courteous and forthcoming within the limitations I.e they lack qualifications, knowledge and finesse. Be it front office, housekeeping, coffee shop, restaurant they are doing their best but unfortunately their best still requires more training and understand basic essence of hospitality. Management may justify this by the pricing but guys now you got Radisson prefixed to your name...The GM and Radisson have challenges at their disposal,,, Rate my experience just a notch above average,,,all the best n god bless!!!
There are so many things to talk about this hotel. The list of how bad this hotel is is quite frankly endless. I have been travelling to this hotel for past 4 years and instead of seeing growth and improvement, I have personally witnessed the downfall of this so-called luxury resort.
Firstly, the rooms are squalor. They are so dirty that if you will not be able to find things to compare it with, I was in this hotel last week and the room that I had received was a normal double occupancy one. The curtain (in the pictures below) had the red stain of a paan (Indian mouth freshener with a permanent colour) which was probably left by last angry customer or was there from the beginning of the hotel when the curtains were first installed. This highlights the callous nature of the maintenance team of the hotel. Once asked about the curtain, even the staff resigned and said this mark cannot be removed. Just sad.
Secondly, I believe that a 5-star hotel should have an awesome buffet lunch and breakfast. This is not the case in Park Plaza Kolkata. Although the breakfast buffet can be seen having some variety, the buffet in lunch is like the daily rice and lentil soup that one can get at home. What is more splendid is that many of the places in the buffet are empty making the visitors think whether the restaurant is closed or not. Horrific.
Thirdly, the service. It is comparable to that of a road-side restaurant. The waiters have an uncanny air and ego. There is a person, probably the head of the waiters, quite big and bald, he has never greeted me nor has he ever acknowledged the orders I had given. Plus there have been times when the order came after 30-45 minutes since given. Shameful.
What hurts the most is that the hotel is very expensive and does not deliver.
With this, I end the great review of the splendid rest place called PPKB.
Nice and decent place with close proximity to the central business area.
Room maintain excellent and breakfast can be betters more so if they are upgrading to Radison. Overall a decent stay and would look forward to better facilities in future.
