Room was OK, hot water was only once (but at least it was not cold in Kolkata). The A/C was very noisy, we had to turn it off to get some sleep. The breakfast for 65 RS was a disaster: a 10 Rs sachet of cereal in 150ml milk plus a small cup of tea / or 3 slices of toast with 10 g butter, an unripe banana (or rather plantain) and a small cup of coffee. Rather go and eat outside, in the opposite direction from Park St there are some good and cheap restaurants. The elevator did not work for a day (room is on the 6th floor) / for us it was not a problem, but for others it might be. When it was raining for a night (monsoon season), in front of the main gate the puddle was ankle-high. Internet access in the lounge was expensive and very slow. The only good point of the hotel is its location because it is right in the city centre.

My stay at the sunflower guest house was for 3 days with friends. The atmosphere was laid back, the staff helpful and willing to go the extra mile. All the basics were covered and in the no frills rooms. And to add to that free wifi and a rooftop garden to hang out on with plants and fairy lights and things.
THE GOOD the location of the hotel could not be better, close to Victoria memorial and many other place of interest including Mother Teresa's tomb, Indian Museum,Peter Cat, Arslan and the market. The attendant was quite helpful in arranging food from outside at 7:00 AM. The terrace has a beautiful garden and for the price i paid that was good. THE BAD The room (standard ac room) was small. The staff was not really friendly to us but was rather indifferent though they did not turn down any of our requests. An elderly gentleman who seemed like the owner was outright rude when i went to visit the room before my checked in . decent experience
Its a comparatively cheap hotel close to marquise street. I took a Non AC room, what was not satisfactory. There is barely any room service. The service boys actually slept outside our door! Its housed in a old, interesting looking building, specially the lift is ancient and shaky, but gets the job done. Location is good enough, close to many shop, restaurant and money changer, but not an upscale par of the town-was a little difficult to find it actually. Washroom room was old and dingy, keeping with the room itself. The bedsheel was torn, unclean and small to cover the bed! Small soap was the only toiletries included. Its good enough for solo travelers, and back packers, I strongly suggest against couple s and family to stay here.
Located a couple of hundred yards from the action on Park Street, the Sunflower puts you within easy walking distance of Calcutta's best restaurants, bars and shopping. It cannot be beaten on location. Rooms are large, with very high ceilings and great AC. The decor is a bit functional - but everything is clean and spotless. Very friendly team. Great wifi. Only niggles - no restaurant or laundry (both available nearby).
good location in Kolkata, the room is nice, maybe a little bit to small. the owner is friendly and helpful! all in all a good accommodation, but a little bit to expensive! kolkata is a very nice city with a lot of activities!
