NEVER SAY "NO" BUT NEVER DO THE ERRAND.
Room was well organised with all the necessities. Staff were caring with friendly nature. We relished our food throughly. The hotel is located centrally in the main city.
It was an excellent property. The hospitality was wonderful. The staff were professionals and room well up to the class. The food was also delightful and location convenient too. I am pampered with overall stay.

My biggest regret is that I only stayed 1 night but that stay has let an indelible memory. The moment I stepped in front of the hotel till the moment I left I had the most exquisite experience. The young lady who took care of my check-in to the young man who escorted me to the right door all spoke accent less English. Everyone was courteous without being too overbearing. The waiters made sure one of the dining companions had food that met her requirements. The room is so old style grand. Bedroom slippers in 2 sizes in their own bags. A welcome tray of apples, local newspapers, remote control in its own box and beautiful toiletries. Its one of those places where you are happy to just stay in the hotel. I did not partake in the breakfast as I had a early morning flight. However Oberoi did provide a small box of breakfast items which I found disappointing. A bag of chips,a hard donut, a cream cheese with tomato/cucumber sandwich, banana and a small bottle of water. The only reason I would visit Kolkata again is to stay at the Oberoi.
The Oberoi Grand: its really grand and luxury at its best. The hotel is located right at the new market which is always hustling & bustling with people. The lobby is grand and overall the property gives a real heritage look. The area around the swimming pool is very well maintained with trees. The rooms are equipped with all the modern facilities. The staff is courteous. The breakfast buffet has a very good spread and everything is prepared as per order and served hot. The hotel has 3-4 restaurants and the ambience is just awesome. Need to pamper yourself: This hotel is meant for you !!
Lovely stay at the Oberoi, beautiful hotel with all the charm and history you would expect from this lovely old hotel. The staff and their service are second to none, the best we have enjoyed in India. Nothing is to much trouble and their commitment to every little detail is special, even my book mark was replaced ! The hotel was clean, the food excellent with staff making sure you make a memorie and taste all India has to offer. The pool was lovely with shady areas. The hotel is placed in the busy market area yet the hotel is calm and quiet, I can't fault it in any way, we shall return soon.
Was staying at the Grand for the second time in 2 years. Must say, that they have really improved their service and attitude since the last time. It is a beautiful old building, which has been done up and kept very well. It has an incredible old world charm and for me a nostalgia from childhood when I lived in Kolkata. It is located in an interesting part of town, and you can walk down to some really old marketplaces from the colonial era. I walked down to the lively Mirza Ghalib Road and bought some books from second hand bookstores, took a look at the old Armenian College and had a fantastic meal of "manksho-bhaat" in a street side restaurant. The hotel rooms are not large, but, are very nicely done up. The breakfast was very good. Overall, a great experience.
To begin with, my maximum points goes to the service staffs for their warm hospitality. All the hotel staffs from front office to house keeping to service, concierge, bell desk , banquet staffs etc were were courteous all through out our stay. Breakfast was good.. not many choices like in other hotels but whatever was available was made to perfection.. e.g, soft boiled egg, to get it perfectly correct all four mornings must be commendable. I love the property to some extend, the very long corridors, old fashioned lift, high roof bedrooms, old style baths. I thought the lift was spooky the first night I checked it but there was something about the spookiness that I eventually enjoyed following day on. Only one thing that wasn't enough for me is that there is no sauna or jacuzzi in the relaxing room. Just a small steam .. and the spa is way too expensive It truly was a home away home experience in royalty
