I wanted to give 5 stars because of the Excellent service the hotel staff gave, but I have given 4 stars because of just one horrid person.
I checked in on 1st Sept. Everything was very good, as per my expectations. Anuradha at the front desk was very, very helpful. Room was nice. At 5 o'clock, my son fell down and got a 3/4" gash on his chin because of the rough tiles near their swimming pool.
The staff from Aqua and the gym got us to Mercy hospital and the next day, the staff at the Bridge restaurant, Chef Ashutosh Awasthi, the Restaurant Manager (don't know his name) and his entire team at the Bridge, gave us wonderful support and took care of the dietary needs of my son. (The Dr had advised mashed food only). This is the only reason why I gave this hotel a 4 star and not 1 star.
This is a special mention for Chef Awasthi, who made sure my son got all the mashed food we wanted and he informed his whole team at the Bridge of our situation, and we were taken care of very well.
That is the kind of service we expected from a hotel of repute.
Now, the reason for giving one star less.
On 1st Sept, when I and my son came back from the hospital at 8pm, the worst experience was given by the Lobby Manager. He blanket-refused to take responsibility that the hotel was responsible for my son's hurt.
When I told him that the doctor has told my son to eat only mashed food, and that now it will be the hotel's responsibility to provide that food, the Manager was very, very un-cooperative.
At my insistence, he said he will send Soup for my son in 15 minutes and the soup came at 8: 40pm, after a full 40 minutes!!! When I asked the room service boy why it was so late, he said they had sent the soup immediately after receiving the order, which means the Lobby Manager messed up a simple soup order too.
Secondly I had specifically told the Lobby Manager NOT to send Khichdi and at 9:10pm, a full one hour and 10 minutes after I had spoken to the Mgr, the restaurant sent up Khichdi. My son, who is more mature than the Lobby Manager, said it was ok, he will have another bowl of soup instead, which was sent in 5 mins.
I told your Lobby Manager on his face, that leave alone 5 star, the hotel is not worth even 1 star.
I hope the Lobby Manager learns customer service, along with manners, from the other people at the hotel. This is a classic example of 1 rotten apple spoiling the barrel.
Thankfully, in my case, I was extremely relieved by the way the staff at the spa, gym and restaurant reacted to the emergency and we came away satisfied.
Thank you to Chef Awasthi, and the Manager and other staff of the Bridge restaurant. You solved a huge problem for us in an unknown city and took a load off my head.
The Park becomes the appropriate choice if you are in Kolkata for Business. Right in the hub of the business district and Plenty of restaurants both for leisure and business. The day begins well right at the Breakfast with the Senior-most Chef Mr Awasthi personally attends and ensures a tasteful & brilliant start of the day.The Marwari & Bengali dishes end with a super Mishti Doi.
The rooms are clean and well provided - particularly the recently done third floor is tasteful and efficient.

Great experience at The Park, kolkata. Room was good, services were excellent, cost of stay was reasonable. Stuff was very helpful and friendly and our floor manager Arnab deserves a special mention. He should be promoted and given a hike for his brilliant services.
Stayed in this property perhaps after 30 years;Centrally located for all your business needs
Nothing much have changed
Nice buffet breakfast; in room dining needs lots of upgradation- nowadays portable mini heater for room service is common in 5 star properties
Storage space for luggage, clothing hanger, etc is placed in enclosure for toilet & bathroom; strange, perhaps modified due to space constraints
Staff very cooperative
Lobby needs upgrade
