Everything was beautiful had a wonderful time, spa was perfect. Only let down was that the taxi was late and expensive on departure.

Property, location, staff, service, facilites. All exquisite! Property, location, staff, service, facilites. All exquisite!

Had a 3 night stay, which was superb from the word go. Were treated to a room upgrade from Garden view to Sea view upon arrival. The property is indescribable. Calm, serene, beautiful and with a private beach. It's easy to spend all day at the property, just relaxing and taking in the nature. Rooms were equipped with anything and everything that one would need. The staff is possibly the most commendable component of the property. Everyone was extremely amicable and hospitable. Extra points for arranging a doctor's visit on-site on short notice, when my partner fell ill. Spa facilities were good. I recommend as a must visit it you're looking for a luxury getaway.

exactly what I needed exactly what I needed

Words are short to describe the week I spent in Niraamaya. The total relaxation, the "who cares about what's happening away from here?" , the rare sensation of spending hours enjoying the "dance" of the coconut trees or the warmth of the seawater brought my youth memories back, and that was good, very good

A huge disappointment A huge disappointment

Niraamaya is supposed to be a special wellness retreat where you can relax and be re-invigorated. After a tough journey to get there , we wanted to sink into the environment , not sink into despair. The resort villas have very little private outside space .The better rooms are actually next to the hotel pool and cafe , offering no peace at all.For the prices paid there was just not enough quality, the heritage rooms and above are 500-750 a night and worth nowhere near this. The layout is more holiday camp than wellness retreat. Then there is the sea view . We expected a relaxing view over a lovely peaceful bay - not the sight of 2 industrial dredgers blowing out black smoke and operating practically 24 hours a day with concomitant noise and background humming. The cafe is crowded and right next to the pool and crammed in sun beds. The bar is on sand , no wonder it's empty at night as people don't want to dress up after a beach day and then walk on sand again. The beach beds are good and the beach bar adequate but there are not enough beds and they do not make the best of the large space - hawkers allowed to sell to you as you step on to the beach were not welcome. The food at the cafe is of average standard - not bad but certainly not gourmet. Breakfast is good with lots of choice. The small Essence restaurant - open at night with 5/6 tables and concentrating on Thai sea food is excellent, and well run by Swarmy, the sole waiter. The spa, which has been voted ' Best Indian wellness spa' was moderate. The treatment were OK , but not special, but there were interruptions in the treatment rooms, and you could hear between rooms. Immediately after the treatment , before you can catch your breath you are given a feedback form , and pressed to complete. I later found out that the 'awards' were not judged but based on votes from guests asked to write in. The worst part of the visit was the New Year's Eve party. Despite the obvious major effort and enterprise by the management , it was terrible. A very loud, screechy female MC with a microphone destroyed the ambience completely. The band were excellent and the local entertainment very good , but were constantly interrupted by the MC wanting to get guests to play games on stage - it was embarrassing and many people left well before midnight. The buffet food was good and varied but there was far too much and general confusion about what courses you had to order from the table. The Kerala back bay excursion was poor , and simply offered the same experience as the general public . The driver that took us there also asked us to come shopping with him, as did the driver to the airport - the usual commission deal , not want you expect at a serious resort. The manger and his key staff are trying very hard to please guests and genuinely were trying to help guests enjoy themselves , but the resort just doesn't meet the expectations of a well travelled people who will compare the quality with other Asian retreats. Relais & chateaux is about charm , quality and hospitality - not how I would describe Niraamaya.

Beautiful hideaway, wonderful staff Beautiful hideaway, wonderful staff

We arrived today to finish our honeymoon in India and so far, everything has been exceptional. We were greeted by Priya who showed us around and arranged special treats for us for our stay. The staff also arranged an incredible fresh flower display in our room to wish us the best. The rooms are fabulous, pool beautiful and beach so quiet and quite brilliantly wild. This is an expensive place, especially for India, but it's absolutely worth it. We have stayed at all kinds of different places during our visit, from backpacker hostels to very simple and basic hits on the beach. This is the perfect place for our final stay and we wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now. Would recommend in a heartbeat and will most definitely be back.

Beautiful Retreat, with great hospitality and friendly service from all the staff. Spa and massage was excellent. My stay wasn't long enough but every moment at the retreat was worthwhile. The gardens are well maintained and overall the cleanliness of the rooms, the dining area was well looked after.
