The location is awesome, the beach side facing room and restaurant is the perfect place to chill n enjoy
My husband and I visited the resort for our 5th wedding anniversary and the hotel staff made a special effort that went above and beyond what we expected. Special mention to house keeping staff Mr .Vijith Vincent and restaurant staff Mr.Shiva .
Also we took the Ayurvedic spa treatments. There were relaxing and professional. Truely enjoyed .
The stay was perfect in every way... If You need a quiet place for total relax then this is the right place!
Truly Gods own little paradise!

Our experience at Niraamaya Surya Samudra was delightful. Its so beautifully landscaped that we could spend a few days just admiring how beautiful this property is. Trivandrum was unbearably hot but we barely felt it and that too with AC use being restricted to just our rooms. The staff was polite and went out of their way to accommodate us. A special mention for chef Prakash, he is so friendly and provided us such a fantastic culinary experience. He really went out of the way to accommodate our requests and our meals there were something that made our trip memorable. Please go there for the most authentic and delicious meals and a fabulous holiday, close to nature.
A salubrious and pleasant escapade

Will jot down all the experiences we had there- both great and not so great.
We stayed there in the last week of March 2021. We stayed as a group with 2 children also. Covid was coming down. We were fully vaccinated.
The approach roads to the resort is fairly straight forward. However, since the main Highway is undergoing repairs the govt has made wide service roads which have steep ups and downs. Just follow google Maps. There is a well known Catholic seminary beside Niramaaya and that is an additional landmark in case of confusion. The place is situated at the very end of a long road and has wooden gates.
The reception is professional with the usual cold towel and tender cocunut drinks. We had some issue with the bookings. We had booked for adjacent rooms of a category just above base category however the rooms we got were a bit far and hence we had to upgrade our rooms to Superior. So please confirm with the bookings before going.
The landscaping is excellent. There are multiple rock scuptures scattered throughout the property. The plants are also maintained excellently. Its around 33 acres in area and it's very well kept up. There are multiple hammocks also placed. The Bamboo cottage which we took and the octagon room nearby have a fantastic view of the beach. It is worth the price. Dont think the Rock garden rooms have such a good view. The rock garden rooms are bigger but have a view of the garden and not the beach. There are some red ants on parts of the property and be careful when walking along the lawns close to the beach. The gardener does come in the morning and sprays some medicines however the ants persist. The trees are a view to behold with some trees , esp a large banyan tree over 150 years old. There are a good variety of birds and plants for those so inclined.
There are buggy services available for transport throughout the property. They are usually prompt unless its peak time. They usually come in 10 -15 minutes. There are 3 buggies. One is slow and meant for the not so young. Since there are rocky pathways be careful to hold to the railings when sitting on the buggy if one is sitting at the back.
The rooms we stayed were exquisitely done but a bit small. However with the wooden interiors its not feasible to have larger rooms I think. There are extra methiadi type slippers and umbrellas also provided in addition .The bathrooms are outside with a semiopen roof. However there is no issue of privacy . There are a few mosquitoes here and there and so be careful to close the door to bathroom as that is a potential entry point. There are mosquito coils also provided. However we didn't have to use it. There is a mosquito net also on the bed but it is more of a decorative piece and one doesnt have to use it. The rooms are very clean and very well maintained. The toiletries provided are also of good quality generally. However, the wifi is an issue. The signal is not strong and is intermittent. Be sure to have adequate mobile data on your phone as one is likely to require it. We, as well as others had issues- though someone always comes to sort things out reg wifi, the issue persists. The Housekeeping is very prompt, courteous, and thorough.
We would like to thank Vijith Vincent of Housekeeping for the outstanding service.
Be sure to note the number of the room and location as one might get lost when going around- this being a large property.
Sometimes it rains and it rains cats n dogs. So don't hesitate to take an umbrella if there is any sign of rain. The rain does seep into the room if all the bolts are not placed. We did have that problem. The rain can get into the main restaurant also if its sudden as its partly open. They switch off wifi and phone if there is heavy lightning and thunder. The electricity goes off if there is a storm but comes back in 5 seconds precisely. The staff is very supportive during these times. When there was water seeping in our rooms due to a sudden thunderstorm the staff immediately cleaned off everything . The water gets in if room is not securely closed.
Restaurant--restaurant is situated to one end. There is an incredible view of the beach from the restaurant. One can sit for hours here. The food quality is very good. You can go outside the menu and order whatever you want and if available they will provide. The service is A class. The person who looked after our group was Shiva . His service was EXEMPLARY (in all caps letters) to say the least. He will there to cater to your every whim. The food does come at a cost and be wary when ordering exotic dishes. The chef is also very cooperative. He clears all pur doubts and prepares food according to our requirement. It takes abiut 45 minutes to get the food.So be prepared to order food well in advance. Breakfast was complementary .Since food is important apparently the chef is the only person who lives inside the campus.
The fact is that this is a Wellness resort. There are lot of programmes here but were partly closed when we went due to Covid. However the Spa is exceptional. It seems to be one of Niramaayas main attraction. It is large. Has multiple rooms with good privacy. There are both Ayurvedic packages and spa packages. There is a Doctor there (Dr Arun) who listens patiently and advices reg which one is good for ones health problem. Our therapist was Sujath. He did a very sincere and committed work . Kudos to his commitment . Donot miss the spa if one goes there. There are yoga classes also there in the morning which we did not attend .
There are 3 good places to take photographs .A view point where benches are provided, near yoga platform esp morning and evening and from the restaurant.
There is an infinity swimming pool near the beach- restaurant. It is not the usual tile furnished pool.It has natural rocks at the bottom and to the sides. Therefore there are algae there and the water is a bit cloudy .We saw a person clean the pool every day for 3 hours from 8 to 11 daily. But the water has some algae and is not the "pristine clean" water like in other places. One is also likely to get scratches from the sides of the pool. There is a notice kept beside the pool warning of this. Better not to go near the eastern side of the pool where the water flows in like a waterfall as its slippery there. But the view from the pool -ie the sea- is excellent. There are 2 kids pool beside it .The depth of the adult pool is around 145 cm.
The Covid precautions were decent. Everyone wor masks. Though we were vaccinated and completed 3 weeks we continued to be cautious esp as children were there. Some guests were not wearing masks. The staff were maintaining the requirements
The security and staff are generally very helpful. One of the security guards near however prefers to go over the top regarding safety . The beach security needs to be gentle and firm but not irritating. But they are very helpful. There is a vendor selling his handicrafts near the entrance to the beach .
The Main attraction is the BEACH. There are two beaches. One which is almost private- it is easily accesible from the hotel. One can walk down..though there are 70 steps down- its incline is very gentle . The best time to visit is 630 am to 8 and 5 pm to 630pm.Otherwise, the waves may be more dangerous. One has to be careful when venturing into the waves as the depth apparently suddenly increases beyond a point. Better to be safe. There are rocks nearby whereby one can sit and relax and even work on our laptop (!). There are a few boats on this small beach also.We had some good conversations with the fishermen. There is another larger public beach to the side towards the restaurant. All the main fishing action occurs here. One can see the fishing activities going on here--large nets being pulled, boats going out etc. The Vizhinjam harbour is nearby. When we went , which was the time when Suez canal was blocked, a ship got stuck near this place also which we could see! Both the beaches are very clean which is actually unusual in these places. However, the sea is a bit rough for swimming.
There some cows here in the resort and apparently watching their milking and participating in it was an activity. However when we went they were pregnant .
There are some cycles for those who want to cycle. But cycling inside the property is difficult as the path is uneven and one has to cycle out side the premises. There is some vegetable gardening also going on and they use it in the restaurant.
One can plant trees in ones name for rs 1500 which is given as charity. Ones name will be put on a neatly painted board beside the plant. Interesting to see all the names..
All the staff was very polite and helpful. However, ones gets a feeling that they are stressed and overworked--they are there all the time. Maybe its due to Covid times with staff shortage all around. The place is very professionally managed and no lackadaisical approach exists as is common with some other resorts we stayed.
We had stayed in diff hotels in Kovalam. The best hotels in Kovalam are Niramaaya and the other one. The approach, ambience and point of attractions of both are different. Choose according to ones preferences.
We as a group had a great time there . Hope this review is useful for other travellers in planning.
Finally, enjoyment is a choice. One can choose to quarrel and find fault with everything( though nothing much to complain here) or choose to enjoy.
We chose the latter.

Niraamaya - Wellness for all.

Tucked away amid lush vegetation and coconut grooves, this oceanfront place is alluring in every way. The property has 33acres with 33 independent cottages, almost all of them overlooking the vast and shallow turquoise, Arabian Sea. Imagine waking up to the soothing sound of waves. After getting the formalities done at the reception we were directed to our cottage, Pandanus, a beautiful dwelling with antique wooden doors, windows, and roofs showcasing the typical ancestral houses in Kerala (which are a rare sight these days.) The state -of the art Niraamaya cottages stole our hearts. We spent some time enjoying all that detailing of the cottage we stayed in, which reminds us so much of the tharavadu houses of our families.
You can take a walk around the property with your camera, or just sit and stare at the ocean in the armchair at your balcony, or take a nap on the hammock, or go to their restaurant for that sumptuous meal with the view or just talk to the friendly staff for inputs about the places around and the activities they provide or take a shower in the open to nature bathroom (alfresco shower) of your cottage. Plenty of things to do, if you dont find yourself at the private beach chasing waves. We did it all. We photographed every moment because we needed to carry back all those beautiful memories.
