We have stayed for 18 days all over Kerala and the 4 nights that we have spend at passage to India resorts kovalam was by far the most disappointing. water in pipes are sticky and dirty. No maintenance and no basic hygiene whatsoever!.the rooms were smallish with a small balcony. Strictly average.
Normal selling rates of this resorts is A/C ROOMS ;1000 RUPEES AND NON A/C ROOMS 600 RUPEES, I don't know how they ask higher rates than a good hotel.
he AC never worked and in spite of several complaints, the reception guy always said try after 5 minutes it should be working by now.
and have to say this is the worst hotel on the planet!
All in all not a great stay and we wouldn't go back.
Rooms good, service poor

When we arrived at hotel no one was present there for reception. Waited 15 minutes and a man came and opened the door. Room were fantastic for sea view from bed and balcony. Drinking water was not available from tap or supply. Had to buy mineral bottles only. Too much costly restaurants and over priced even in off season. But at main road upwards rates are lower than that of beach.
If you are looking for a clean room with basic facilities (like AC, TV, Fridge) without the frills (read exorbitant prices) of a 5 star hotel, then this is the place to be. Clean rooms, perfectly working AC/Fridge, TV with all possible channels (regional and national), hot and cold running water and a small kitchenette to store your chips and biscuits bought from the shop downstairs. (the rooms are on the first and second floor, ground floor being a grocery cum chemist shop and a souvenir shop). Amazing views of the sea and the various activities on the beach. One gets to see the fishermen in action early in the morning, and then morning walkers who inspire you to join them. After some time you may spot the random surfer which makes for an interesting sight. Many popular restaurants are there in the area, ideal for your morning coffee after the beach jog, or for sampling the fresh seafood catch for dinner after your evening stroll. The area is dotted with many souvenir shops and hotels also. Most of the cafes, restaurants are overpriced and poor in terms of hygiene and food quality. Overall, enjoyed staying at this cozy and comfortable hotel without being burdened by the 5-star rates. Huge thank you to the staff and owner, Mr. Padma Kumar.
Hotel Location is in excellent location and nice view from even from the Bed. Though Limited services are available in the hotel, no lifts, is a very small Hotel because of location this make a differentiator. You can enjoy sunset even from the hotel roof top. The Price is also very low. The owner is very nice gentleman. Next to the hotel there are nice restaurants for Breakfast and Dinner.
Passage To India was literally hidden and a little difficult to find and there was actually a passage to the the hotel reception from the beach, which made me think about shifting to another place, then the manager was not there and the guy at the reception could barely communicate in English or Hindi. But let me tell you when I got my room It was was just awesome with a descent bathroom, balcony, huge terrace and breathtaking view from the balcony and terrace. This place is right on the beach and has a splendid view of the Light house beach and Eva's beach, probably better view than even the five star hotels in kovalam (I don't wanna name them here) This place is literally on the beach, so one could just leave the room and plunge into the best beach in India. Overall this place needs a better maintenance and staff training and I guess that will improve since the place is new, the only problem I faced during the stay was that the water was dirty, actually brown in color, most of the time, which was just not acceptable at any place, and the reason given by the manager was that it had rained and so the water from boring well was brown. But if you can ignore these little problems this hotel is one gem of a place to stay in. I would have rated it excellent had it not been for these problems.
