First the name of the hotel is not S J Beach Hotel, rather it is "S J Holidays", that is what is printed on the sign board of the hotel. They do not provide breakfast as opposed to what was mentioned on the Cleartrip website. The hotel provided me two soaps only on asking and did not provide even a single bottle of mineral water. The flush in the bathroom doesn't work properly and water gets clogged in the shower cubicle. They do not provide any electric kettle but the Manager Surendra was kind enough to let me use the kitchen to boil water. I stayed in this hotel from Jan 25 - Jan 27 and the check-in time as mentioned in Cleartrip was 12:00 noon, we reached the hotel at 3:00 PM. After our arrival, it took around 45 minutes for Surendra to get our room ready. Except for the Manager Surendra, no other hotel staff was there to help us out in bringing our luggage. No lift is there in the hotel. The AC in the room takes a lot of time to get started. Rooms are spacious and well decorated, has a verandah with rocking chairs where one can relax and get a good view of the sea. The hotel is not right on the beach but that's ok as it takes just 1-2 minutes walk to reach the beach through a small approach road. But the hotel seriously needs more hotel staff for maintenance. Surendra is very cooperative, he is there in the hotel all the time but without any other hotel staff and without a lift, its difficult for him to take care of everything. Surendra was kind enough to help us in getting a cab from the hotel to Trivandrum airport at 4:00 in the morning. The hotel management also need to rethink on their strategy of the amenities they want to provide to their guests at the amount they are charging.
