The best part about this resort was it's location. The resort has been well maintained. Cottage were average having all the facilities. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
This entire hotel is very bad, poorly maintained. Rooms were not clean & service is inferior. Food was average...last day I moved to the Taj.

First of all I would like to mention about the exceptional customer service of soma group. I had booked an ayurveda resort accidentally . When I reached there it was not suiting us, as itbwas a veg only reaort. I informed then about this and they changed my reservation to a non veg resort "soma palmshore" at vizhinjam. That too a high class room! The rooms are good. Very clean. There is lot of space for roaming around. The room I got was a sea facing room. Overall excellent experience.
Simple hotel for family and couples. Very interesting location for local drama serials.I chose this hotel after watching a drama serial but a little different. Just a night stay. Staff are very nice. They have in house Ayurvedic medic and services. The Breakfast was good. The restaurant staff are friendly.Like to thank the restaurant elderly senior staff and the security officer in the evening. Both have the same name. Anoop and the front desk gentleman..very sorry cant recall your their names. (please see the picture taken at front desk)
The most amazing part of our stay was a peacock just outside our room :) Yet, quickly lets review the pros and cons of this hotel. Pros: - Standard south Indian breakfast with some variations daily - View from cottages is lovely - Light house and beach is just at a walkable distance - Quite near to THVPM airport - Superb birds (peacock) inside the hotel area Cons: - Rooms seriously needs an upgrade - wifi doesnt work in cottages, you need to go out - room service doesnt provide you even with basic amenities like toothpaste and brush - reception is a bit lathargic in work
To be honest my sisters recommended this resort for me as they really enjoyed it 6 years ago but when I visited this so called resort I was shoked from the: Rooms & building - dusty old building - old dirty rooms - damaged bathroom - dirty bed sheets with bugs on it Restaurant: - dirty floors - old and dirty table cloths and napkins - awful taste and because of the dirty place we weren't sure about the highginity - tea and coffee flasks were dirty you wouldn't want to try their cup of I dont know what Pros: Near lighthouse beach And u will find good shops along the beach The resort has wonderful view from the dirty rooms We booked the resort for 3 nights but we couldn't survive one night and checked out the next day I have read this resort review before booking and was shocked whatever written in the reviews are wrong and the rooms pics are totally not what we saw Be careful not suitable for Elders No elevator and you have to take the stairs going up to ur room or going down to the restaurant TOTALLY NOT RECOMMENDED
We booked one of the standalone cottages as the last time we'd stayed at palmshore 5 years ago we'd had a great time in their deluxe rooms by the beach and had hoped to come back and stay at the cottages. initially we had some issues as on arrival the booked ride took us to manaltheeram, a sister property and we were told we'd been upgraded. as we were tired after a very long journey, despite not being happy about not being informed at all about the change - despite having corresponded with their staff a week before when booking the taxi - but the property was stunning so we stayed. the next day we realised that the buffet dinner was going to become quite expensive and that this property was more of a hospital/clinic albeit a very stunning one - and given we weren't looking to get any treatments or follow a veg diet, this was not a suitable location for us, not to mention being so far away from kovalam which is where we wanted to be.- a ride into kovalam everyday had we stayed would have blown our budget in days! so the next morning, after breakfast we spoke to management and after much back and forth - language barrier issue, we got them to agree to take us to this property where we had booked. have to say once this was finalised the whole thing was dealt with very quickly and staff were brilliant in manaltheeram. the issue is with whoever moved us without informing us. anyway the matter was resolved. once we got to palmshore we were quite pleased. the cottage was stunning and comfortable and overlooked the pool and the sea so every night we fell asleep by the sound of the waves. the service here like manaltheeram was impeccable. the food was very tasty too. also i cannot thank the staff enough for arranging a quiet room for my husband and making sure internet access was present so he could take part in an interview back in the UK we ended up having some treatments as well which were really good - both my husband and i had been unwell for a bit and the staff was always ready to help with hot water and giving advice on what hot drink to have to help with our coughs and colds. we were able to walk down to the beach and have drinks there which is what we'd wanted to do from the get go. barring the being moved to a different property without being informed this was a great trip and i'm glad we came back to soma palmshore. only shame was that due to the sea being volatile we couldn't check out the private beach but kudos to the staff for keeping guest safety in mind. if we did go back again to soma as amazing as the cottage was, given that there wasn't any shade available in the balcony area like how the deluxe rooms have a porch we'd probably want to stay in the deluxe rooms like we did 5 years ago unless they built some kind of shade area in the balcony by the cottages or provided an umbrella to sit under was a very relaxing stay and the staff were absoutely brilliant and super helpful. cannot recommend enough. only thing - whoever arranges their bookings need to ensure they communicate with guests before arrival about any changes and provide suitable alternatives and maybe the property does require upgrading in terms of bathroom facilities - maybe some modernising but definitely still amazing! definitely recommend this place.
