Lovely place Lovely place

I liked everything about the beach hotel 11 , very tastefully done rooms....airy, cozy and with that balcony it was just perfect. Only thing a few things were tardy, not sure if it's because it is off season...but they had no power backup and their idea of drinking water was giving us packaged drinking water bottles. Found it strange and wasteful. And the wifi never worked in the whole of the two days we were there!!! Now if only these things could be looked into, it would be a great place!

Nice location, good view. Overall very good. Only major downside was the really stiff bed/pillow combo - nearly as stiff as concrete. That said, I would highly recommend this place and it seemed better than anything else I saw in the beach area.

The plus points - helpful staff, huge rooms, air con, good location, private balcony overlooking beach. The minus points - our room made strange knocking noises at night. In fairness, the management offered to move us but it had stopped so we stayed put. No swimming pool, doesn't take credit cards despite costing Rps 5,500 per night and having one of the more expensive restaurants, hard beds, free wifi for guests but didn't work in my room which I find out of order these days. It could be so much better but just misses the mark.

Great Hotel Great Hotel

Not sure why this is listed as being in Trivandum instead of Kovalam - its right on the beach at Kovalam. However......Beach Hotel 11 really is great. Last year we stayed at the Turtle on the Beach but found Beach Hotel 11 to be much better in all respects at less than half the price. Three of us took two rooms for a week. The rooms were large with large balconies, and all the rooms overlook the sea - the hotel is virtually on the beach. The rooms have TVs although we never used it! There is no pool, but being so close to the sea we didn't need a pool. Wifi comes from a travel agency joined on to the hotel - it was a strong signal throughout the hotel and cost just GBP 10.50 for the week. The restaurant was great as were all the staff. The manager in particular was incredibly helpful. The shower was a little quirky, but the manager had warned us about that and it caused no problem. Having to pay a deposit of 50% in cash using Western Union was a bit worrying at the time, but it turned out that we had nothing to worry about at all. All in all a fantastic hotel - we will certainly stay there again.

The place to stay The place to stay

The hotel is part of German Bakery. This is the second property. The Beach hotel original is below the German Bakery. The "Beach Hotel II" is a four story building with shops on the ground floor, a restaurant "Fusion" on the first floor and rooms on the top two floors. They are also have a parking and road connection unlike many other hotels on the Light House beach. Both the hotels and restaurants are run by German Lady, whom we could not meet and say hello though. We stayed in the Beach Hotel II, room 202. The first thing you notice is the spotlessly clean stairs and corridors. Once you enter the room you are welcomed by a large french window and a quite big sit out area beyond facing the waves. The rooms are decorated very tastefully with terracota tiles. The toilet is exceptionally clean. In fact every thing about the hotel is done with good amount of tasteful thought. I think they have about 10 rooms between the two floors out of which 3 on the second floor are air-conditioned. From all the rooms you get a full view of the ocean and the light house beach as the hotel is located in one corner of the beach adjacent to the light house. The rooms are basic with no wardrobes or in-room tea facility but they do have a television (in case you want) and a phone to connect to the reception. They only serve drinks in the room but no in-room dining service. That should not be a problem as food is available in the "Fusion" restaurant downstairs. My only suggestions would be to put a ceiling fan in the balconies and some soft towels. After few days of sun burns soft towels would be very much necessary (my personal desire). The restaurant is called "Fusion" because in the menu they have food options from east and west on either side and a fusion menu in the middle. The options are not too many though. But the menu is slightly different in look and feel from the many other restaurants on the light house beach and the serving of the dishes and garnishing are also quite nice. The whole team of Beach Hotel II are very helpful and ever smiling. I can't say the same for the people in the German Bakery though. Comparing with many other stay options on the light house beach, this may be a bit expensive but you can be assured of cleanliness, great view and welcoming smile. If you want to stay right on the beach, don't want regular business or luxury hotel look and feel, want a clean well decorated hotel room to spend a relaxing time then this is the place I sincerely recommend.

Demo Trip Ask not to have 205. Maybe the 1st floor would get you closer to the wifi router.

Demo Trip Rooms on the second floor have fans and air-conditioning. Rooms on the first floor just have fans.
