An excellent hotel in every respect. The service and food even the room has good size. The hotel stay is good value for money. Staff could not have been more helpful. Facilities were excellent, although they put more sun beds around the pool, but we used the beach. It's a great place to go with family and would go again there without hesitation.the beach. We spent two excellent nights at the Leela, we recommend the beach view superior room, with sun bath. The hotel staff is very friendly and prompt. The bar although expensive is very relaxing with a superb view off the sunset.
Rooms are very comfortable and clean. From the room you get a beautiful view. Staff serve you excellently well and quite friendly too. The beach was very close to the hotel, we had to walk only 5-7 minutes from the hotel. We had our food in the hotel rest aurant and while eating food you can see the view of swimming pool and it was great.aurant and while eating food you can see the view of swimming pool and it was great.
Rooms are excellent of the hotel. They have a swimming pool, gym and tennis court in the hotel. The beach and sea view from the room is refreshing. I like this hotel, the best for hospitality.

We were only booked for 3 nights by our agent, but could have stayed longer. We love the resort and staff are excellent, accommodating to every need. However, we would rate it a high 4 star due to its lack of private beach, which is near the mosque and bus loads of locals enjoying the adjoining public beach/motor boats. The walk to the beach can easily be walked but difficult for seniors with mobility problems. Main pool has one section for children, that can become noisy, but acceptable. Our garden room had a nice patio. Room was large and clean. No tub, but delightful rain shower. TV had English channels. Internet was good throughout the complex. Walking to lighthouse beach is easy as its downhill. Ride back by TukTuk up hill is only 100 IR including tip. Shops and restaurants are abundant and inexpensive. Recommend for a relaxing stay.
I was here for a conference and I think the experience would have been different for a holiday. Rooms were nice but internet intermittent - beach and pool area were very nice, though I did not use any of them. The club rooms seem to be very nice area but my room was not a club room and had a sea view and was a good size. Service was not ready for a conference this size and breakfast and lunch was awful service - slow and not very reliable. We hired a conference room for one morning and the service was great there. For a holiday I would recommend this, for a conference this large I believe a city hotel is better and more prepared.
We received an upgrade to 'Club' which meant much more that a better room. As a result we had our own restaurant and pool, and this gave the advantage of a boutique hotel within a larger complex so that one could have the benefit of both types of experience. My only criticism would be that I found the menu selection in the main restaurant a little dull - there was a lot to choose from but somehow not always very exciting. Otherwise, stunning location, delightful staff and a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Go Club if you can!
We have just finished a 7 nights touring Northern India and wanted 7 nts of peace and quiet so we took 2 flights from Jaipur to Mombia then on to Trivandram, to stay in the Leela Kovalam (good reviews on TA). Well if your a Brit don't bother with this you will be very disappointed. The beach is small, not private as advertised and a haven for local day trippers in their coach loads (pic added), all making a lot of noise, speed boats taken them out on mad rides back and forth all day, polluting the sea, with the over powering smell of fuel. Not at all very relaxing or quiet. Now for the hotel or dear, for the money it is definately not a 5 *. The only thing positive I can find is the service. We were put in a garden room facing the ocean but can't walk directly to it because you have to cross a public road to get out of the secured area and onto the beach. In fact the whole Leela hotel is fragmented, garden rooms with abandoned little swimming pool one side of the public road with the rest of the facilities the other and then you have to wait for a buggy or mini bus to take you up to the restaurant for breakfast. The first 2 days and nights we had continuous banging of drums and loud music from a wedding party the hotel was catering for. Our bath had a huge split in the bottom, so even if you wanted a bath you couldn't, and the bathroom area was a build up of dirt and grime. The food is ok nothing special and what a rip off, especially the Tides restaurant on the beach. We are use to notch hotels in exotic locations, and I can honestly say from a Brit, don't bother it's a long way to go and simply not worth it.
This is a great hotel. We had a view of leela beach from our room and it was really fantastic waking up each day with such a spectacular and panoramic vista. The room itself was meticulously cleaned each day and was very comfortable. It is quiet at night and there was very little disturbance despite a large conference taking place. The main lobby was impressive. At times the breakfast choice could have been a little bit better. Unfortunately the level of service is not always consistent and It was evident that some of the staff are simply doing a job but not with the required enthusiasm and this definitely comes across in their manner but there are others who really emerge as great ambassadors for the hotel and truly care about the guests, special mention for Snehal Moon Front Office, and two of the Guest Service Associate team members Sandeep Choudhary and Abishhek Anand. So overall the customer service rating are increased. We were at the hotel for 8 days and could have stayed longer. The location is fairly central once you reach the main gate. We would definitely recommend and will return again when we next visit Kovalam
