I have had a reservation canceled well before the terms and conditions, its been about 2 months the refund has not been initiated. The accounts team contact I spoke to has been shady and the first phone call he told me it will be refunded in 5 days, the second time I called after 10 days told me that he has initiated and is pending with Corporate Office. Third time I asked he told me they have some huge fund problem(Which I totally don't care) and when requested to speak to corporate office number he refused to give me.
Booked the hotel for a family function for two days including stay, food etc. Even though in the initial period they showed lot of enthusiasm and affection but when it reached the crux of the situation they started showing their real colors which is not expected in the hospitality industry. Nearly about 17 rooms were booked on my behalf in the property of various category including suite rooms directly as well as through booking portals.. But to my utter dismay when my guests started arriving, the front office point blank told that the full payment for the rooms are to be deposited before check in and that also without even raising a voucher. It was a really awkward situation for me and my guests. With great difficulty I could tide over the situation . This was a real shock to me. Those who booked through portals escaped. The simple explanation they gave was - its a management policy.
And not only that I found that the room reservations people were going on changing the room tariffs. The rates they committed to me some two months back were seen jacked up when the vouchers were given for advance payments. Again I have to argue , speak to several people to settle the issues. Overall it was a real bad time for me to have dealt with this group. That also after giving a very good business of dinner for 65 pax, lunch for 100 and so many rooms and that too in a very lean season when most of the hotels in Kovalam are shut down.
At the same time I had another 40 people accommodated in a nearby hotel and absolutely there were no issues and my guests really enjoyed the stay and the treatment there.
Regarding the property and rooms the only plus point is that the rooms and sit outs are spacious. But the interior is not up to the mark . Looks pretty old and the rooms are too dark to move around. They have put only some 5 watts warm light bulbs in all the fittings which you will find it exttemely difficult to have proper visibility. And you may have to spend pretty time to search for the switches. The bath rooms are also dark and if you in the habit of daily shaving I warn you carry a small mirror with you and go to the sit out and do it. Ladies will find it very difficult to put on some make up since there is a big mirror but without a light.
The interior decoration is also very poor and they have put some cheap plywood beams on the roof -may be to give a rustic feel - which is not matching with the ambience. You will be surprised to find a hard top rexin covered sofa in the room which is very rare to find now a days.
The property is having different type of rooms in different buildings nearby - main building, annexe, Tomms inn etc with sub titles arabian view , deluxe , annex deluxe etc.So when you are booking the rooms through web sites you mau find it confusing. Annex and toms inn are seperate buildings and with seperate access. Not all rooms are having arabian seaview. The sea view is only avaialble only in the rooms in the top floor and you can have the view more thean 750 mtrs. away from the property. The beach is nearly a km away and you have to descent a steep spiralling gradient and climbing up is not that easy. Please dont go for the suite rooms since it is not at all worth the money you pay. There is absolutely no proper furnishings in the suite room except for two side full glass windows. The overall room tariffs are also on the higher side.
But one thing I should appreciate. Their F&B is superb. Good food and good care. The f&b manger Ratheesh is really a professinal with good skills and his entire team is so nice. The breakfast spread is really good , fresh and tempting. So my advice for food - it is one of the best choice in kovalam, but for rooms - think twice and to my experience its not worth the money you pay.
Food quality was good but the service was poor. There didn't appear to be a manager and there was a major problem with the crows. We dined out because of the crows. The WiFi was poor. It constantly required visits to reception to acquire a code.
I am very regular diner at TOB, More the then the taste People who working attract me there for dinning in restaurant & bar as well. Butter Paneer Masala is awesome there in entire Kovalam. Many people involve to create experience in the restaurant & Bar.
Thank you very much for your services.
I will name out few of them who serve with their open heart Ratheesh (mgr), Krishna, Anoop at bar, Awasthy in Restaurant & chef who cook Paneer Butter Masala for us.
Thank you very much again
We had a great experience visiting the property. We had requested for baby food for my child and the staff was very kind to prepare fresh baby food as instructed by us and my son just loved the food. The staffs hospitality was just amazing. On one of the days of our stay during breakfast the property owner and the director of sales came over to our table to find out if we were comfortable and having a great time....during the conversation they learnt that it was our anniversary. Later the day, the director of sales walked up to our room himself and gifted us with a lovely cake and wine which was an amazing guesture...overall an great place to be....
