Located amidst lush green paddy fields, this was a welcome getaway far from the hustle & bustle of the city. The rooms were clean & the staff were polite & helpful. A dip in the pool brought a tear to the eyes as the water was a bit hyper chlorinated. A thirsty traveler can easily quench his thirst at the beer & wine shop located in the premises. The children's play area located a short distance away from the rooms did not look safe enough for the kids to be left alone. Food was tasty but a bit overpriced. However there were quite a few options in the vicinity for dining out & having a taste of locally produced toddy & seafood. We relished a walk through a hamlet nestled among the fields where we witnesses the daily activity of village folk. Mornings would be the best time to visit the famous Kumarakom sanctuary (2km from the hotel) especially if you are a nature-lover- the other option is to take a magical cruise along the backwaters of the Punnamada lake to enjoy the amazing panorama.(less)
The Swimming Pool here is certainly a brownie point for this hotel. The rooms were clean and airy. only the food and service at the restaurant needs to be improved. we ordered Duck Roast- but it had just bones. The other items ordered always took a while to be served. Even for Breakfast we had to wait 30 mins for just an omelette. The staff was helpful in getting us a beer to our room but it was not chilled. Hope this is improved the next time
First impression is not always the best. The resort seemed to be well maintained. But the trouble started once we ordered the food. It took almost half an hour for them to place our order. The food provided wasnt up to our expectations based on the appearnace of the hotel. Being a hotel in Kumarakom, we atleast expected good quality in fish but the "Fish Vattichathu" was horrible and tasted awkward. We also had to send back the "Chicken Fry" as it was more likely to be called as "Burned Chicken". Unfortunately, This hotel cannot be recommended to anyone.
We were a group of four families. We were welcomed well. Thereafter the disaster stated. The room was just ok. The food at the restaurant was terrible. Though the Buffet charges are Rs.490/-, there is no value in it. Pool had more chlorine in the water. Though it seemed clean, it was irritating to have swim there... The GM Mr. Joemon was hesitant to listen to my feedback. I would like the property to be managed professionally and it should really improve its standards.
Stayed at Green Fields as part of a group outing and our group had a nice experience. The highlight of the place is the food, if you are a fan of regional cuisine. The buffet lunch and dinner were delicious, especially the lip smacking fish curry. The rooms are comfortable and good value for the modest tariff. (by Kumarakom standards where even ramshackle homestays would take you for a ride) We also enjoyed our time in the pool. And if you are planning a visit to this place, don't forget to pay a visit to one of the toddy shops nearby.
