Nice indian tradition welcome
Breathtaking back water views
Rooms were ok but all basic amenities are available
We felt that staff is more concentrated towards Foreigners
As an indian in India we should respect our indian brothers first rather than pampering them...
Overall good experience with lakesong as it was only one day stay..
Its very nice place. There are lots of activities to do in the resort Like fishing, boating, cycling etc...It is an extremely lush green property with the view of the Vembanad lake from the restaurant and Hotel grounds.
I stayed at Lake Song Resort, Kumarakom for 2 nights with my wife and kid. This resort is located at a very nice place, which is just at the banks of the Vembanad lake which connects Kumarakom to Alleppey. The hotel has a very huge parking space as it attracts a lot of tourists especially foreigners. It is an extremely lush green property with the view of the Vembanad lake from many rooms. The entire resort is built very beautifully.
Upon reaching the hotel, we were allotted our room with 30 minutes. The hotel has 3 category of rooms and the base room category is called Punnamada. When we entered the room, we were surprised to find that the bed in the room was so small that even me and my wife could not have slept comfortably on the same, let alone sleeping with a child. Upon asking the reception, we were told that they have 48 rooms in this category and all have the same bed size. Upon asking them if they have a higher category of room, they showed us the room which had a much bigger bed. I had to pay extra to get this room allotted to me. I found this a very big turn-off since I have never seen such a small bed. They really need to get this changed and arrange a bigger bed in all such rooms.
At the time of check-in, we were told that the restaurant serves lunch till 3.30 only and after that room service would be available. When we settled into the room and ordered lunch through room service facility, we were told that the time is past 3.30 and lunch cannot be served. We were told that only snacks could be served. However, they were courteous enough to accommodate our request and arranged for lunch to be sent to the room, but that took them 1 hour.
We had dinner at their restaurant on the first day Oottupura which is a multi-cuisine restaurant. The first day dinner was very disappointing. We ordered a Spaghetti Pasta and a Caesar Salad. To my surprise, the Caesar salad was nothing but chunks of lettuce in mayo sauce. I found it very disappointing as I have had it better at so many other places.
After all this happened, we were beginning to feel if it was a mistake to have stayed at this property. However, the next day was completely the reverse. We really enjoyed our breakfast buffet on both the days. I found their masala omelette to be very good, potato wedges were very nicely done and the vadas were to die for. Shakes, juices, idli, sambhar, paneer paranthas, chhole bhatoore all were delicious. One thing that was missing in their buffet was the live station for Dosas and Uttappams. Every other hotel where I have stayed before offers dosa and uttapam as part of the live station.
For lunch, we went to their restaurant and ordered Chicken Chettinad with Kerala Porotta. Kerala Porotta is made with refined flour and taste yummy with Kerala curries. This was accompanied very well with fried papad, pickle and onions. For dessert, we ordered their dates and nuts sundae which was exceptionally well prepared. It had small bites of dates with a mixture of vanilla, strawberry and another ice-cream.
For dinner the next day, they had arranged the entire setting in the garden just outside the restaurant and arranged for a dance and music performance. The music was instrumental with a person playing the flute and another one playing the tabla. It was really good to have dinner in that setting with stars gleaming above you and cool breeze blowing in from the adjacent Vembanad lake. The dinner buffet was really lavish with good variety of dishes be it starters, main course or desserts. My wife had opted for the buffet and I ordered one Chicken Steak Singapore Sizzler. The sizzler had boiled vegetables like beans, potato, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms. It also had potato wedges along with 2 generous portions of boneless chicken in a tangy sauce. The sizzler was good enough for two and I had a difficult time finishing it.
We also enjoyed the services of their Spa which is called as Ayurkshetra. I got a Shirodhara (pouring of hot oil on the head in a rhythmic motion) done whereas my wife opted for a herbal facial massage. Both the services were done very professionally and with full dedication.
The hotel also runs a free cruise on a daily basis from 5PM to 6PM which is a must-do. Apart from this, there are a lot of free-of-charge activities which a guest can avail at the Lake Song Resort. There is an option of rowing a canoe of your own inside the hotel in a small canal-kind-of waterway in which the water is just 5 feet deep. There is a health club, swimming pool and cycling available for health enthusiasts. For someone interested in fishing, they would provide the fishing rod and the food for the fish as well. There are indoor games like carom, chess, table tennis and outdoor games like volley ball.
The wi-fi is restricted to the common areas only. However, I stayed in room 203 which was on the first floor and was able to get wi-fi in my room. I would suggest people to opt for the rooms on the first floor as it gives a better view of the entire property.
For people travelling with kids, there is a good pediatrician just 2 kms away from this hotel, which was recommended to us by the person at the reception since our kid was not feeling well. The address and contact details of the same are Santhi General and Childrens Hospital, Kumarakom, Kottayam. Contact number 2524212, 2524312. Residence number of the doctor is 2585252
I would like to mention it separately that the restaurant staff was very helpful in arranging for khichdi for my kid every day. Not even once did they make any excuses about it and provided it without any delay whatsoever.
My overall experience for 2 nights and 3 days at LakeSong Resort was one filled with comfort, delight, good food, nice view of the property and a stunning Vembanad lake at your side every time. I would definitely recommend staying at this property in Kumarakom.
We stayed for two nights. Its a good property on the Vembanad. Good view, specially the sunset. The major downside for us was the cold food served in buffet as well as in room service. They also hardsell their houseboat and other offerings, which are pricey compared to ones you can avail from market.
Check in for one night stay, found out Toilet door can not open wisely, building and Bicycle poor maintenance . Staff from the reception very unfriendly and less corporate.
Food and restaurant services overall is good and Hotel have a beautiful landscape
