The location of the hotel is nothing to talk about but the rooms are decent.Staff has a laidback attitude. This hotel is for couples who book it for the weekend to have some privacy. For family ,it gets kinda embarassing.Food served in the restaurant is pathetic although that was not the case when i had visited with my girlfriend 12 yrs ago.
Place is good to stay, but it is at the end of the road. Very peaceful area (no noise).
No phone in room or out side, need to walk to reception to inform any.
Rooms are quite spacious and clean with balcony in every room, sound from room can be heard out side as there is ventilator on the door.
Food is little costly so I tried out side, at night little dark on road to Hotel.
Shahani Health Home as is the correct name of the place is a fairly large property owned & managed by the Mumbai based D.T. Shahani Trust, which is a Large & Well Known Trust. They have about 75 rooms in 3 wings on the 1st & 2nd floors. All rooms are of a standard size with balconies attached, which is good, but none of them have A/C's. They only have a Fan in each room. The rooms are large with a Double Bed & a Single Bed as well, so each room can comfortably accommodate 3 adults. All the Furniture in all the Rooms are Fixed & Built in. The Beds are built with Brickwork on the floor, have Glazed Tiles all over the sides & Granite Slabs as Head Rests. The Cupboard in the room is made of Brickwork Walls & only the Doors are of Wood. There is a small Dining Area with a Granite Slab fixed in the wall that serves as a Dining Table & there are two Plastic Chars which are the only Moveable Furniture in the Rooms. Even the TV Stand is a Granite Shelf fixed in the wall. They have a Box TV in each room with Cable Connection that works, but do not have a telephone or even a bell to call anyone. If you need anything, you have to walk all the way to the Reception & ask personally. This is a drawback. They do however offer Room Service if you ask for it. The Bath/Toilet area is fairly large with a Storage Geyser that works well, a Commode, Wash Basin & Shower Area. The Taps are however quite old & the Water Pressure is not very good, so you cannot use the shower in case you want to have a Hot Water Bath & you have to have a Bucket Bath only. Some of the Taps are a bit broken & some leak a little & have to be over tightened, but they work. The Balcony is smallish, but 2 persons can sit comfortably in them if you bring the 2 Plastic Chairs out in the Balcony. They should have also provided a Plastic Centre Table along with the Chairs, which would be good to use in the Balcony as well when you sit out. Charging Points are few, but manageable. The Mattresses & Pillows are however very old & hard & need to be replaced. We had to ask for softer pillows & they had a challenge going to all other rooms to check which of them had softer pillows to give us. Even their softest pillows were still a bit hard. The Towels, Pillow Covers, Bed sheets & Blankets were however clean & freshly Laundered, which was good. The room was also cleaned very well every day by the cleaning staff. They have an open dining area on the ground floor with limited items, but all freshly made & tasty. They serve both Veg & Non Veg Items for Breakfast & Meals as well. While the 2nd floor rooms are definitely preferable because they are higher & cooler, there are no Elevators & you have to walk up & down which, for us, was a good exercise, but may not be good for all. They have ample parking area for cars & also have a Table Tennis & Carrom area as well as a small Mandir too. The staff are polite & helpful & are happy to assist you in every way, which makes your stay very comfortable. The location is also very convenient & is walking distance from the ST Stand, Railway Station & the Market as well. It is in a quiet & peaceful area with plenty of greenery & lots of birds that chirp away all the time. All in all, a neat & clean place to stay at with basic amenities but at a very affordable rate. Definitely worth a visit.
building seems look like since erected ,(1984) no renovation happened ( haunted like govt. service apartment or hospital). every wall has greenish surface from outer structure. the old person may be the owner having lots of attitude not at all suites to hospitality industry, very arrogant no manners at all specially when talking to the female guest he was yelling on us just because we tried to negotiate with extra bed charges from 500 to 300. since self working in star hotel in Mumbai definitely compare the rates as per the hotel rating. No telephone or call bell to interact with reception you have to spend your phone charges if you wish to order even a tea. not recommend any one with family to stay here. its okey for all boys stay for one night.
