Esthell Village Resort is located 75kms from Chennai and is tucked away inside a small village Thirukazhukundram. Finding the place is not difficult if you have GPS. This property is completely greens and not a beach property. The closest beach on Ecr road would be about 15-20 kms.
The property is quite big but doesn't really look like a 30 acre property. The rooms are quite far from the reception & restaurant and they have kept battery operated cars to pick and drop the guests. The portico is not that impressive as the parking is right in front of it. As you move toward the rooms the whole view turns scenic and beautiful. The place is really clean and well maintained. The standard rooms were big and spacious enough for their category (Standard rooms in hotels are much more cramped) but you are paying for that. Rooms are like cottages in a bunch of 4 in a block which comprises of ground and first floor. There's a small sit out facing the garden. The room blocks are alongside the garden. The place is very peaceful and calm. The resort is completely covered with greenery and any nature lover will fall in love with it.
The resort has a huge playground for cricket. It has a swimming pool with beautiful landscaping around. It also has few rides for kids inside the kids swimming pool. Snooker and Cycling was chargeable (after paying so much for stay you don't expect to be charged for silly small things). Carrom, Chess and TT like other resorts were indoor free games available. Zorbing is also available which is chargeable.
We really loved the resort and the landscaping and enjoyed our stay there. The staff are friendly and hospitable and had no issues with them. The resort provides free wifi but the connection is very unstable. You need to keep on signing in again and again.
Food is really costly and definitely not worth it. Just because you are in a resort and there is nothing nearby it doesn't mean unreasonable prices can be charged. How would you justify Gulab Jamun @ Rs.150/- Plus taxes. We preferred to travel to the nearby village which is only 10mins far off and had a delicious pure veg dinner there at a very reasonable price. The village has a huge market and a big supermarket where everything is available. Buffet breakfast had a good spread and was decent in taste.
Overall had a very comfortable and enjoying stay. Would suggest to have a look at the restaurant pricing.
We chose Esthell for a workshop for a team of 32 people. The Esthell team was more than ready to do everything we asked for. The location, facilities, quality of rooms, the communication and willingness of every staff to be of help, quality of food, love and care they displayed was simply amazing. I have not experience anything in my life that was 100% perfect in all ways.
A great place for a family outing, so much to do and also relax. I am sure to go again with my family
Service with a smile- I guess the team here has mastered it ... front desk, house keeping and restaurant included!! Breakfast is awesome though can't understand why fruits aren't a part of it ... standard room has a vague matchbox design with very small windows! You wouldn't mind any lapse as you would be amidst greenery in a village like atmosphere!!
This property is awesome, very calm and serene. Lots of sports activities. As a family with kids, surely the right place to be in. However, it is sad that the team is not trained on how to be hospitable to guests. I booked through an online travel portal and had mentioned that my kid does not need an additional bed but we were willing to pay for buffet breakfast. I guess there was some gap in communication between the portal and the hotel. While I was checking in, the person at the reception did not accept even though I said I would pay for breakfast. After a while, when we boarded the battery operated car to go to our room, he came out and once again asked us about the additional charge when we were about to proceed for check in. This is nothing but harassment. Hope they will correct it.
We travel regularly and every time, we inform the front office that we do not need a separate bed and that we will bear the breakfast charge. But this hotel does not know how to treat customers. The attitude of the person needs to be corrected. I would like to compliment Mr Jeffery, the F&B manager, who was very kind to us and provided excellent service. If at all we go back to that hotel, it is only because of Mr Jeffrey. Otherwise, it is a lovely place to be in. Slightly away from the city but worth it.
Visited 16th Jan 2017 with family- 2 young kids, stayed in a suite room, charged 9000 rs- room was good, but floors are quite slippery, my son 2 years old fell down about 10 times and my daughter 3 times- high risk of injury. The hot water was not working. Despite informing housekeeping, no response for many hours, had to shower in the cold water. After informing the reception again at dinner time, a person was sent. Then the issue was sorted before bed time. There was no hot water in the jacuzzi. Told by the housekeeping team to get hot water in the bucket and pour into the jacuzzi. The towels were wet ( not sure whether they were used- disgusting) and asked for replacement.
Pool was good, no good rooms with pool view- Children Pool was filled with mango tree flowers- disposed head caps- not chlorinated, no water treatment. The water tank splashing water from the top is unsafe for children- as the water is cold, metal floor is slippery. Pool is also open to people coming for day picnic- no need for swim dress.
Outdoor activities are good, only if you come as a group.
If you don't have your own transport, have to eat in the restaurant, which is very expensive and has the same menu for lunch and dinner.
We visited some other rooms- which were not good at all, poorly maintained- not sure whether they were just vacated.
Gave an extensive feedback on vacating- was told I will be contacted by the management team- I will update in a week about the response.
In short- overtly priced, poorly managed resort. Dont go there, just by browsing the web or seeing the pics- appearances are deceptive- speak to people who have visited there before about your expectations and the reality. Our experience was disappointing.
