The hotel room is not furnished well. The colours of the wall make it appear gloomy. Food is okay. Overall, the hotel is well located to see the sites, however, it does not come across as a well maintained hotel. They can definitely do better.

Room was spacious with all the basic facilities. Staffs are co-operative and polite in their work. We had food in the restaurant it was very good in taste. Only problem I faced was that the child meal was not provided by the staffs of the hotel. Else everything was fantastic.

Arrival:- We arrived by taxi from the airport at Chennai which is a pleasant journey of about 1 hour down the East coast highway. We were met at the reception where we were given a small giftmade to feel very welcome. We were guided to our room through the gardenswere very pleased to have chosen this hotel. The room:- Having booked a York suite I was somewhat dissapointed with the room that we were taken to. The air conditioning did not workthere were a number of mosquitos in evidence on the walls despite the "all out" plug in sitting in the wall socket. I went to the reception where the young lady was most apologeicwas asked to wait for a few moments in the room while she made a phone call. Less than 5 minutes later she knocked at the door to tell us that we were being moved to a bigger "suite"if we would wait for a further few minutes someone would be round to move our things. About 5 minutes later the resort manager arrived to take us to our new room, following a guided tour of the grounds we were delighted to find that we had been upgraded to the Dome suite which can only be described as wonderful. It is lightspacious with ample air conditioning from 2 units suplemented by 3 fans in the roof. The bathroom was roomyeven contained a bath as well as a shower. We recieved a complementary welcome packwere left to luxuriate in the surroundings. This room has a semi private garden areaplenty of seating both coveredopen for enjoying the pleasant evening air. It is hard to find anything negative to say about this room. It was all very pleasant. Some people might not be pleased by the morning wake up provided by the two birds which spend about an hour each day trying to get into the room through one of the porthole windows but to us it was an added attraction. For the final night we had to move back to the original room as the dome suite was previously booked. It was with some tripidation that we returned to the room only to be pleasantly surprised to find that the ac had been repairedhad been turned on to cool the room for our arrival, the mosquitos had gonethe plug in had been turned on. It was like a new room, the bathroom, though much smaller than the dome suite, was adequatethe bed was more spaciouscomfortable even though the room was smaller. The food:- The food in the hotel dining room was served in an air conditioned area in a building which had been designed to feature a tree which grows through the builing. It was pleasantairy with a covered area outside for those that prefer to dine “al fresco” The choice of food was good despite some items not being availablethe quality was good for both Indian dishesmore European choices. . The hotel food prices were also more than reasonable Service:- The service at the hotel was excellent, nothing was too much troublewhen my partner was ill medical care was provided speedilytransport tofrom the local hospital was laid on. The driver waited for some hours whilst she was treatedthe care given was good even though the conditions were somewhat basic by western standards. The managerall of the staff were always availabletook every opportunity to try to help whatever the requirement. I cannot overemphasise what a pleasant experience they made of our stay. Everyone from the garden staff upwards was politefriendly, always welcoming with a cheery helloa smile. Parking:- Although we did not use the car parking, a large area is provided within the hotel groundsI would think that security would not be an issue. The resort:- Mahabalipuram is a mini historical city. There are a number of things to see in the areaplenty of opportunities to buy souvenirs are available, from the plentiful purveyors of stone carvings to jewelery, textilesleather goods. We only tried one of the local restraunts in the harbour area due to my partners illness but the quality of the food was excellentthe service goodthe prices a pleasant surprise compared to the ones that I have become acostomed to in the Delhi/Gurgaon area. We were there in a quiet period in the areaprobably got more than our share of attention from the many street vendors but they were rarely too invasivemost of the time a cheery hellowalking on was enough to make an escape from unwanted attention. Conclusion:- If you are looking for a modern hotel with five star western features then this may not be the best choice for you, but if you are looking to have a relaxing time in perfectly adequate surroundings with staff working hard to make the visit memorable then this is the place to go. If you want more luxury book the dome suite, it’s more expensive but worth it for the experiencethe ambience. Although our visit was at a quiet time, most everything was available, some non veg items on the menu were not initially in stock but were soon put back as ingredients were bought in after being requested. There were no problems at all with veg items. The hotel it’self is like a mini museum with many aretefacts from collonial times being displayed in various areas around the hotel buildings. Every day new suprises could be found in unexpected locations. Would I go back? Yes for the relaxed atmospheregreat service but I think I’d visit some other locations first having seen most of the attractions in the area. So maybe one of the other two hotels in the group. Would I recommend the hotel? Most definitely! For anyone who can do without some of the modcons expected in top westernhotelsis likely to value servicerelaxation more, this is the perfect place for a break.

Stayed for 4 nights for a conference. Welcoming reception after a long and ardous journey. It is an ex British military camp so the rooms are in ex army pods. There is range which probably relates to the level of seniority in the forces: from the lower ranks to the officers . We were in a basic pod. However the bed was extremely comfortable as the mattress were new and made from memory foam. The rooms were clean and always smelt of a lovely incense which I discovered was the floor cleaner. The electrics werent great so I had to have my appliances charged up at reception. Not a huge issue. Breakfast is basic but suited my needs. We had 2 evening meals which we really enjoyed. Beers were 250 Rs. Fridge in room. The staff can not do enough for you. Thank you to Arun, Priya and her colleagues at reception. The manager runs a tight ship and is extremely professional. When you leave there is a bit of hassle from the cleaners wanting tips to move bags. He stops all that. I liked the hotel. It was unique, friendly, safe and a far cry from the sterility of the major players in the town. I wanted an Indian experience and this hotel delivered. Thabk you

The location of INDeco Hotel Mahalibaripuram is great. Situated in green surroundings, it is near to the city centre, the temples and restaurants. It is also near to the sea shore temple and has private accesss to the beach. The hotel itself, however, is not good at all. It is a poorly maintained, run down property in serious need of renovation. Rooms are dark and mouldy, ac is hardly working. Breakfast is reasonable, but the buffet dinner disappointing. Staff are friendly, but service slow and very inefficient: does it really take 55 minutes to prepare a sandwich? I would not recommend this place,

Had a short stay at this resort during the long Pongal weekend. Hotel is located very close to the sea shore temple and also has private access to the beach. Being a pet friendly hotel is another plus to the hotel.Hotel has an extremely friendly front desk staff. The food and beverage service staff were initially a bit rigid but went along with us well during the later part of our stay. Food was decent considering the price being paid but the time taken for serving them was a bit slower than what was anticipated. Things they may want to consider for a better rating would be to keep food & beverage dining options open 24/7 atleast with a skeletal menu than refusing orders because the kitchen was closed. We tried ordering food late at night (11:00 PM) to learn this, but the situation was well taken care of by a gentleman working the late shift who managed to get us some rice dal and Gobi 65. Even the breakfast buffet was closed by 10:00 ...sadly we thought we could get breakfast till 10:30 hrs. The hotel Needs an upgrade of the facilities like the pool and play area as they have been overused and have started looking tired. Spa rooms looked really unappealing and a friend of mine literally walked off from there as the masseurs were not well trained nor the room was well equipped. Had a chance to meet the GM of the hotel who has recently joined this place. He was extremely friendly and easy to approach. He went out of his way to invite us for the Pongal celebrations they had organised and also ensured our four legged friend was having a good time as well. I would like to wish him good luck with his new assignment and I am sure he would bring in a visible change in the service standards in my next stay with them.

Positives: Friendly staff, Above average breakfast, location of the place, massage center, kids play area Negatives: Priority and importance to foreign nationals over Indians(easily seen during breakfast/in general cefeteria folks support) Poor maintenance of rooms, no air circulation in the dome style rooms, wasp issue, king sized bed is not a single peice, but 2 single beds joined, so not comfortable during sleep. Even room change was not addressed properly. I wish to come back for the fond memories but there is a concern of the room health.

Booked this hotel for one night. Positives - 1. Access to beach and shore temple. There are cultural programming held every year and easy access to it. 2. Shops nearby. 3. Hotel service. 4. Restaurant is very good. 5. Staff is very helpful. Manager to watchman all deserves hundred points. 6. Vast property, good facilities for recreation, good ambience. Negatives. 1.Rooms are very dark. 2. No WiFi in the room. You need to go to reception. 3. Mobile signal too weak. 4. Very old construction. 6. TV is for namesake. Looks like Tamilnadu government free TV.
