We are senior citizens who spent 5 nights at siva guest house last February .It's a very quiet and nice place,.The rooms are basic but very clean with good beds and hot water . They were very good value. . We could easily walk to all the sites ( which are exceptionnal) and to the beach .Good breakfast on the other side of the road.we really recommend siva guesthouse.
We book a Non a/c room for 600 INR. The place is simple but nice, well located and very clean. Also the staff is really helpful. The son of the owner help me to buy a sim card and took me by his bike. I'll return to this place!
Great and freindly staff, wifi available, clean rooms, currency exchange on site, taxi service and airport pickup available, prices decent, beach in distance of 5 minutes, close to top rated "le yogi" and "moon rakers" restaurants. Good value & price.
The location is great, close to the beach, shops, temples (walking distance). In front there is a good cafe with nice food and real coffe! Staff was very helpfull and very nice. Helped us with ride to Chennai. I was sick and they offered to buy me medications (: The room is a little small and basic but there was always hot water and the bed sheets were clean.
You get exactly what you pay for in this guesthouse but what adds the value is the chilled-out, laid back atmosphere. Othavadai Cross street where the guesthouse is situated is full of budget accommodation providers and travelers `facilities. The cheapest room (appr. 8 Eur per night, non a/c and no sea view) did reflect the price and had only a bed, one shelf, a ceiling fan and a bathroom but it was clean and sufficient for one night. For a longer stay in the town, you may want to search for an accommodation with more facilities and comfort. Towels, bed sheets and toilet paper can be requested from the reception desk. Despite the nets on the windows, the mosquitoes found their ways in so make sure you have a repellent product with you (essential for India anyways). The wifi is also available and there is a nice cafe right opposite serving breakfast and really good coffee. The guesthouse has an affiliated travelling agency in the same building, making it easy to get information on further transport and sightseeing tours and to make any bookings if interested. If you need to catch a bus to Pondicherry or Chennai, any rickshaw driver will take you from the guesthouse to a corner bus stand (rather a street bus spot as there is no stand ) where you signal a bus to your destination to stop for you. Mahabalipuram is well connected with Chennai and Pondicherry, with buses running frequently.
