stayed for 2 nights as a short trip, excellent staff, great food and very comforting and peaceful place. highly recommended if visiting malvan. centrally locates hence easy connectivity rooms are spacious and of course no noise nuisance
Nice location and good service. Stayed for 4 days with family. Enjoyed the stay thoroughly. Hotel is close to rickshaw stand. Also liked the vegetarian food of srikant lunch home closeby. Chivala beach was at walking distance and weather was excellent. Only laundry facility was missing.
Konark Residency inflicted the worst hospitality experience of my life. I was visiting Tarkarli with my girlfriend. This was her first visit to India, and we made a detour from the Goa-Mumbai route to this place, specifically so that she could experience the beauty of the Konkan. I had planned an overnight booking so that we could go snorkeling and visit Sindhudurg Fort the next day. We reached the hotel by afternoon and checked out the AC deluxe suite. There was no running water, but we were assured that supply will be restored by evening. After watching the sunset at a beach, we returned to the hotel after dark. At this point, the hotel staff placed me and my girlfriend in SEPARATE rooms. Not only was this doubling our charges, it was actually quite absurd. I asked why they did this, and they said that this was because we're "not married". Firstly, our marital status is none of their business. And there is no law in India against two people being in a relationship. So this was just a rubbish excuse. But it got worse. They were actually trying to SEPARATE MY GIRLFRIEND from me. If they'd have had their way, my dear girlfriend would have been in a separate room, to which I did not have the keys, but the hotel staff did. See where I'm going with this? What's even more upsetting is that they waited till past sunset to tell us this. They didn't mention this in the afternoon, when we arrived and parked our car. They waited till the last possible moment, possibly expecting that we would have no choice but to accept their terms (since it was too late to find another place, and this town is a long way away from anywhere else. Had we stayed there, who knows what they would have done to her (and for me). I don't wish to insinuate that the staff are criminals, but who is to say that they wouldn't have added a sedative to our food and robbed us, or far worse? So in summary: 1) The hotel had no water 2) When it was past sunset, they tried arm-twisting us into separation 3) They wanted to ensure that we would have no choice but to stay there on their terms. Nowhere else to go, eat our dinner or sleep for the night I was so livid that I actually drove through the night, along dark twisty Konkan roads, for hours till we were close to Pune. I didn't sleep very well that night, but at least we are still alive. If hotels like Konark Residency are allowed to harass law-abiding tourists, it won't be long before even this part of India loses its reputation for safety and hospitality.
