I had been to this place on 10th October along with my family friends. The owner Babu and his associate Harish lack the basic courtesy to ask their guests if they need water to drink. For 4 hrs we were made to wait for water bottles. Their cook was also abscounding. We were not offered tea also. Dinner they had to buy from other hotel. The food also was just awful. Rooms did not have hot water. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE WAS PATHETIC. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. ITS WASTE OF MONEY.
The resort's location is best and nature friendly. You will get a warm welcome from their customer friendly staffs. All your needs will be fulfilled. They arrange night safari and sight seeing and much more....special thanks to Mr. Babu and all their staffs. Thanks for arranging homely food
Planning to stay here coming weekend, Sunday-Monday. hope everything goes well. :) Do the property provide any safari/ such activities? Looking forward to a comfortable and serene atmosphere. Review will be posted soon...
Location of the Resort is very good. Cottages are neat and clean. Hospitality is very good. Resort can arrange safari and also sight seeing. Only six cottages are available, each cottages have good privacy. Night lighting of the lawn was excellent.
Hot water is very slow.
Restaurant is limited to few dishes.
This resort is value for money.
We had gone as a family of 5 members, and 2 kids (3 yrs and 6 months). Soon we landed the location and proximity of the place to the reserved forest settled us in. We crossed many resorts notably Bamboo banks, Wildwood haven, etc before we reached chalets. Chalets is the last in the line before the fenced boundaries of the reserved forest closes on you. The forest isn't that dense and for a half a km or so on your west the trees are quite sparse.
Coming to the Chalets, they have compact cottages about 6 in no. Each can accommodate an additional bed if need be.
There is a Manager, Viju from Palakkad, a helper Vineet, a localite and Moorthy, a cook, native of Nagapattinam, was earlier employed with Hotel Tamilnadu, Mudumalai.
Our stay was pleasant but only pain point was lack of timely coordination. Manager Viju was often found cooking Chapatis at Kitchen. Perhaps, at least for weekends, The management should consider adding more ppl. to help with logistics/ kitchen.
Also, they have a centralised solar heater, which hardly helps on a cold day. Happen to catch up with the Owner in charge and had told him the concerns. Seems there are already working on these shortcomings and they have some plans for additional landscaping as well. I have requested to set up the place to be more family friendly (those who don't drink/ smoke).
As it happens with resorts these days, hardly those who drink/ smoke seems to have any concern for those who don't drink/ smoke/ families. Perhaps, they feel it's their democratic freedom (!?!) to what they like in public/common areas!
This is another area where Chalets needs can improve by segregating the common areas between those who party and those who just sit quiet enjoying the beautiful nature.
On a side note, if you would like to have a transport arranged by Chalets, they don't have much resources, rather for local trips to Ooty/ Mudumalai) you can ask for to Bapu a. K. A Vishwanath (speaks Tamil and Kannada equally well) who isn't not just a driver but a honest man and a very resourceful guide. Manager Viju should be able to provide his contact information (not sure I can publish it here without his consent).
Also, they should grow more farm/ garden.
1. Short staffed
2. Management coordination
