Cottage Non A
being a resort hotel at foot hills of ooty i was not expecting a great experience, even my call to the resort asking the amenities came with a reply that there is nothing much to watch nearby and they have only sports activities inside the resort like carrom, TT and so on. The reort looks a bit far on paper, but if one is used to taking the msainagudi road shortcut to ooty, there is not much problem in finding the place. Its a huge property with large no. of cottages and machans, all well maintained. The reception desk and the service team all were very coordial. Only flipside was they where not ready to serve alacarte and htier buffet was a wooping 450+taxes taking it over 550rs for 1 person. I magine oyur food bill if u have couple or more meals. Food was decent nothign much to compalin about, i somehow maanged to convince them to serve me a few paratas and a veg curry instead of the buffet meal, but seriously the bill for just that came 700rs But peop-le you dont need to get put off by this, if you have a vehicle then the masinagudi town is hardly a few kilometers where i could manage few good hotels. So you can htink of taking 2 trips for your lunch and dinner and rest of the time enjoy your stay at the property. I would consider visiting again at a more cooler period provided i convince myself to step out for food or add the huge food bills in to my travel costing.
Access- We went from B'lore followed GPS, road are good until we entered Bandipur National park, they are narrower with pits and hole, it continues till resort. Reached Masinagudi town then for directions to resort asked locals, and also called resort guys. Parking- You can park your vehicle near your room in open. Staff- Cooperative and helpful. Nearby attractions- 1.One hill behind the resort with temple. Short trek to hill is quite a experience. 2.Ooty is around 30 kms from resort we took Coimbatore Ooty Gundelpet Hwy which has lot of hairpin bends, took us arnd an hr but while coming back we drove around 69 kms which took 2.5 hrs via Gudalur (longer conventional route) as the previous route was made one way due to heavy traffic (it was long weekend). Do not drive in evening or night due to lack of street lights in forest and rough roads. Safety- Resort is safe. Food- Food quality at resort is good but not much options to choose from. Room- Average, had TV and Fridge. No electric kettle for tea/cooffee, no locker. Ambiance- The resort is good place for you to spend quality time with family away from crowd and pollution. Resort has got beautiful scenic view thus provides good shooting site,so be camera ready:) Overall as a couple, we had quite relaxing and nice experience.
The place: The resort is owned by Mithun, and is one of the many properties that he owns around Ooty area. This place is perfect getaway from the noise and chaos that has become characteristic of city life. The serene, calm and tranquility that surrounds you here is worth the stay. Imagine waking up to the sounds of chirping birds, and a picturesque setting where you are surrounded by nothing but the majestic nilgiri mountains. To top all this, the resort is spread in a vast open stretch with just the right amount of greenery to comfort your eyes, and good tracks for those who love to jog. There are in house animals like pony, hen, rooster, chicks, rabbit, and birds. The joy we saw in our kids when they could see these within arms reach, is unforgettable. The Service & the comfort: The best part about this place is that it is a home away from home. The Machan's are full of all modern day comforts. I think there are AC as well as non AC machans. This time I stayed in AC machan, just because we thought it might be hot. The room is spacious, so is bathroom which is equipped with a bath tub. King sized bed, and a sit out 3 meters above the ground makes you feel like a real king. The service was prompt, and they even allowed our better halves to enter kitchen and cook baby food. Special requests for baby food are also entertained. The food: The food was decent. Since it was a long weekend, they had buffet spread for lunch as well as dinner. At Rs 450 for non veg and 350 for veg, it was priced just about right, although they could do better by adding a few more items. Buffet lunch was complementary. Last time when I visited, I ordered a la carte, and the taste was awesome. Activities: It might do good by having a swimming pool, or by providing more TV channels in the room. However personally, I am not a big fan of swimming, or TV during a getaway from city. I was happy to trek up the mountain which was not steep, and the base of which was literally 10 meters away from our Machan. This was my third visit to this place, the first being in 2008, and the best part is that I have not seen any downfall in maintenance of the property, quality of service, and the quality of food. Shall be happy to go any time again.
The property was well connected to the city so not to bother about traveling. The management was excellent and their arrangement was systematic. The room service was instant and food was outstanding. I will strongly recommend this gorgeous property.
The hotel is too far from the main city. Room was excellent with all the necessities. Staff was caring and quick in their service. The breakfast was lovely & the ambaince was fantastic.
