Good lonely place. Enjoyed.

Basic facilities but literally a cottage tucked away in the wilderness..Plenty of opportunities and access to the forests for hiking and observing the abundant wildlife around...this place is a photographers paradise..We had a very blissful experience sitting by the fire by the night..Recommend it to all nature lovers!
The place is actually in the middle of no where. Awesome location. Just awesome. Said that, this place really needs to improve on food. The place is quite expensive and the food that you get is really basic and less in quantity. Basic is fine as you expect home cooked basic food but the quantity is a major problem. They charge for the lunch but offers only one non veg n rasam with rice for lunch. And only a bowl of chicken and roti for two people for dinner. Well I really slept hungry there. The place has a lot of potential given the location. There is only one person handling food and rest all other guest demand at the same time. Mr sarvanan is the one man army there. He cooks really well. All my rating is for him only!! So when the quality is good you tend to wat more. But when the staff is just one then it's the best you can get but yes there is a long way to go for them....
Offbeat location. The place is secluded and peaceful unlike other hotels in Ooty. Rooms are basic but clean. Food is good. We checked in on March 21st. Since at a relatively lower altitude than Ooty, weather was relatively warm during daytime but pleasant during night . However the location is picturesque. Manager Mr Saravanan and caretaker Mr Anban will take care of all your needs. We were taken for a short trek by Mr Anban. He is a local from Sholur and has good knowledge about the terrain and wildlife present in the region. We were able to spot a leopard chasing an antelope during the trek. There is a lot of wildlife in and around the resort premises which one could spot if lucky. It is a place for nature lovers. Do not expect any luxury. We would definitely visit again. The place really stands to the name " whispering wilderness"
We've had the best experience of two nights at the homestay. Completely cut off from the crowded and commercial "Ooty". With bonfire and sweetest hosts, listening to the stories of the wild, watching the mist take over the sunset and listening to serene sound of nature- it was worth the experience. Would highly recommend this to someone who is visiting ooty/sholur. Although the cottage is somewhere in a private property and set in a valley and the fact that you might have to walk a little distance to reach, it doesn't matter at the end of the day with the kind of hospitality and the experience it has to offer.
The surroundings I very much enjoyed being at whispering wilderness in Sholur in plain nature. Guide Ambu and manager Promod very helpful, competent and sympathetic and helped to make this part of my stay a success. Kitchen / Room cleaning What didnt go well at all, was the situation in the kitchen it was all but a dirty mess. Food came out up to 3h too late. Further, my experience with the taxi driver ordered by the hotel manager was one of coercion. I wanted him to switch off the engine, to protect the environment and to listen to my questions / wishes before starting to drive. I neede to ask several things about the buses leaving from Ooty and about an opportunity to chance money. He ignored me absolutely as did the cook. After repeating my demand, I noticed, he was just greedy for money, transporting guests as if they were goods, following fixed plans that others have made for me, without the flexibility to adjust to the guests wishes, knowing nothing about customer service ! Ignoring environmentally friendly behaviour. I preferred to walk with my heavy suitcase up to the bus stop ! He molestated me for 40min driving in front of me, behind, at the side, while I struggled to pull my suitcase on the rocky , ungravelled road and later up the hill. He wouldnt let me go. In the end, the guide from the hostel came to help me. Otherwise it would have gone on for hours. Id happily file a complaint at the police. Just do not let taxi driver treat you like this ! Demand a price ad libitum. Note their car number. Make clear, what you expect of them. Fix the conditions. Inform yourself about the pricesin advacne. Get a local to help you and make sure, he notes the car number as well, so you can contact this person, when you arrived your destination. Emancipate and make sure that you remain the manager of your trip , despite accepting recommendation from the local people.
