I would strongly recommend this place for young people looking to spend time away from their respective cities and amidst peace. Elderly with problem in walking may face some issues while reaching the 4 peaceful and quaint rooms. 5 stars also for the hospitality by the owner.

Great Place in the middle of Nowhere Great Place in the middle of Nowhere

I , as a senior citizen and a heart patient was very apprehensive about the Oak Chalet when my daughter suggested a holiday there in Nov 16. I read the reviews and talked to the owners sister , they offered us the Cafe Gohana on roadside, But we decided to take a chance . I was scared of the 20-30 minutes mountain trail downhill but the staff was there to help and I made it down to the property in double the time taken by my children, all the time scared how my wife was faring (She has had bileteral knee replacement surgeries and a spine surgery in the last two years) But I was pleasantly surprised that she made it much faster than me as also on the way up after staying there three days. On the day we had to climb up to leave, the boys made a walking stick out of a tree branch for me to get support. But the three days spent there were worth all the troublr and effort. The rooms at the chalet are Ok, clean and comfortable. It is the garden outside and the serene surroundings that are excellent. Being away fron the TV and the internet for three full days brought the family together. The cook at the chalet is great, he asked our preferences the first day, like I dont take spices and my wife is pure veg , no garlic even. They kept all our preferences in mind and cooked well,, discussed the menu with us everyday. One day they had a campfire going and served hot snacks there. The small garden in front was a nice place for us to play with our grandchildren, both are 3.5 years old and they just loved the place. I could go on and on about the holiday at the Oak Chalet. I will recommend it to all city dwellers to spend some time with yourselves, just leave your mobiles and whatsapp behind and be with nature and let the chalet staff pamper you.

Calm and relaxing, a perfect get-away from the city life Calm and relaxing, a perfect get-away from the city life

I visited this place back in June 2015 with another couple friend. We were wanting to make a quick trip in the long weekend that was following and we came across this place by chance. What a find! Below are the pros and cons of this place. Pros - 1. Away from the noise and crowd of the nearest town - Nainital. So visit this place ONLY if you seek to spend some intimate time with family and friends 2. Beautiful location. The view of the mountains are breadth taking. One can stare out into the view for hours over a hot cup of coffee or tea 3. Weather - In the month of June, we were enjoying a warm bonfire over some delicious grills. Don't think I need to say more. Days are warmer though 4. The food - It's simply delicious! 5. The staff - very humble and co-operative. They even cook the meals as per your preference. 6. The waterfall - The local staff took us to a nearby waterfall which was really nice. It was a 2-3 hr trek through the woods. Would recommend only if one is fit and on the lighter side as the trail is completely wild and rocky 7. The rooms - mostly made of wood, it gives a nice rustic feel to it 8. Till about Nov 2016, they are offering all three meals and a bonfire under ONE PER PERSON RATE. One of the best deals that one can get and it's very much affordable 9. The owners have 3 small properties all within a few meters at the same location. So check on room availability across all three incase you do not get availability in one. Each is beautiful and worth every penny spent Cons - ONLY ONE - They do not except plastic money. (and there are no ATMs nearby) This place has now become by favorite place to stay in this area. But as I said again, it is a place for relaxation and calmness. Visit only if you seek to get away from your regular mundane daily life or for some self-introspect (if that is what you seek)

People here are very friendly and the crew is extremely helpful. There is a fire pit and a patio that overlooks the mountains. The rooms also overlook the mountains and face toward the sunrise. The atmosphere is very cozy and the food is delicious. There are trails and beautiful places to hike in the area. Oak Chalet is a great place to stay. 10/10 would recommend!

we have visited Oak Chalet in September 2016, it is a beautiful property just in the middle of nowhere!! we had a wonderful and relaxing stay. The staff is really nice especially Mr. Vijay, who looked after us really well. they cooked amazing food. it is such a quiet and beautiful place and i guess a best place to rejuvenate oneself. we have visited two beautiful waterfalls and also had an amazingly delicious meal at the village (the best experience which i will never forget). If someone planning to take your children along than make sure to carry along their toys, books etc. to keep them busy as there is nothing for kids and they might get bored easily. definitely worth a visit to this place to get a wonderful experience of nature. looking forward to visit this place again.
