Avoid the ground floor rooms. You get a lot of noise from the outside as well as the entry area where people congregate and talk. Maybe the upper rooms are quieter, not entirely sure.

The Ascot Hotel is conveniently located in the Colaba neighborhood off the main drag (you still hear the horns at night!). It's easy to get to restaurants and the buzz of the tourist neighborhood. The hotel had everything we needed and the breakfast was good. The front desk staff were friendly as were the kitchen staff. We stayed for 5 nights, sent our laundry out, and had a pleasant stay. It was a good location for being in Mumbai for the first time.

Positives - Reception staff were excellent! Very helpful and friendly!! And they upgraded our room. - The room was really big. -The bathroom had a bath and a shower. - Location was so central! - At breakfast the Veg cutlet was really good. Negatives: -Would have preferred a breakfast buffet option. -There was just the mix up at breakfast when they got us coffee instead of tea and forgot my muffin. But its not a big deal. -I found lemon seeds on the floor. My husband and I arrived quite early at about 9am and before the actual recommended check in time (12pm). I had put in the expected arrival time at the time of the booking via However I didnt expect anything from it because we were a few hours too early. The reception desk staff suggested that we could have our breakfast while we wait. However we wanted to keep our luggage and explore our surrounding area. He said that the room should be ready at 11am. We went out exploring (India Gate which is close by). We had breakfast outside and came back at 11am. When we came back at 11am the reception desk man apologized and said that the room wont be ready till another hour. So we went out again. And came back at 12. The reception desk man apologized again regarding the wait. We didnt mind. And he got us a upgraded room which was really kind of him. The hotel is relatively small in comparison to other chain hotels but they take care of their guests. The room was really big. And we had a good sleep on the comfy bed. The area is so central! There are some nice places to eat. Cafe Mondegar being our favourite. A lot of markets around the area too. Its a nice place to chill. Next day for our breakfast, we received a menu card to order from. Its not a buffet style. Its a set menu with options to pick from (i.e. you can select the way you want your eggs). The veg cutlets were brilliant! We requested for tea and they got us coffee. I was supposed to get a muffin but they forgot it. But these things didnt really bother us. They also gave us two big bottles of water for the rest of the day as well. We requested for a prepaid taxi from the reception desk the day before. They explained that the driver may ask which route to go through (if its the faster route you chose then itll be Rs 50 extra that youll need to pay the driver). Very pleasant stay and experience with them.

This is an excellent choice for a hotel in Mumbai walking distance from the Gateway of India and all the old colonial buildings. The rooms and bathrooms are really spacious and clean. It is quiet at night. The staff at reception are very helpful. Food is basic but good.

From the time I arrived the entire staff took care of all my needs. I arrived from Chennai in the early morning. I was able to check at 10am, have coffee and water. My room was clean and spacious. When I needed directions Mr. Menezes was helpful. Everyone wanted to help. I suggest you book this hotel. Good location and quiet in this tourist area.

We had an excellent stay at the Ascot hotel. The room was very comfortable, clean spacious and an excellent large bed with excellent linen daily. Every corner of the room was clean.The bathroom was clean and the towels were very nice and changed every day. The shower was wonderfully powerful and very refreshing to use. The room service was very good too: wonderful to have breakfast in the room. All the people on the front desk were very helpful. Mr Jackson, Mr Menezes Mr D'Souza and all the reception staff were excellent and professional in hotel management. We would definitely stay at the Ascot Hotel again. It gave a welcome break and rest from our daily outings. Thank you. Cooper-Tata

Demo Trip Dont take two single beds put together instead of a double/King bed. Also make sure room is cleaned properly(no ants on bed/pillows) before accepting it. Costly wifi. Better have your own data plan on phone than to buy their wifi for high price for normal browsing.
