Paid almost $200 to be close to the clubbing district and they wouldn't let me bring a guest back! You are only allowed to come back to the hotel alone which defeats the whole point of getting a hotel in the clubbing district. If you want to be alone stay home! Save your money!
I have just stayed at the Emerald for two weeks on my own, no, it won't be the flashest hotel you have ever stayed at, but the staff where fantastic, very helpful. I felt very at home. I got to know some of the staff and their stories, all part of learning about life in Mumbai, they are great people. The location is close to the beach, just a short walk. Loved the food. I would stay there again when in Mumbai. The red head from Aussie, thanks guys for a great holiday
I spent 2 nights at this hotel, as part of a package booked by a travel agency. I must say this is the worst hotel I ever stayed at and I find it unbelievable that the hotel is rated as 4 stars. The room is not only outdated - I did not even feel like getting my clothes out of the luggage, but it was also terribly dirty: disgusting dirty walls, lamps, stains on the bed sheets and a lot of dust everywhere - windows, curtains, bathroom. To add to this , I barely could sleep due to the noise around the hotel.
I would certainly avoid spending any time at such hotel.
Employees on the other hand were helpful, nothing to complain about the behavior of the stuff.
The service only poor. We had arranged breakfast for two couples with the manager at the front desk the night before, to have our breakfast delivered to our room at 5.30am for a departure at 6.00am pickup for our final morning. At 5.35am I rang the front desk and they said the breakfast was on it's way. Again, I rang the front desk at 5.40am and they also said the breakfast was on it's way. At 5.45am we gave up in disgust, and went down stairs to settle our account. The manager said we can get breakfast for you now, at 5.50am, what a joke. We would NOT recommend this hotel.
We stayed at this property in Oct 2016 with my family and friends. The cost is reasonable compared to other hotels in the locality, Juhu beach, Juhu Tara road and is 20 mins drive from the intl airport and paid Rs500 in a taxi.
The hotel is across from the famous Juhu beach which is a public beach, filthy not maintained by the municipality or locals but is good for evening stroll full of vendors and eateries and beautiful sunset.
The hotel staff is friendly and do their best to please customers. Breakfast was included and had a good variety but waiting staff needs to be a bit more attentive. We also had diner in the restaurant and found food to be delicious. The hotels also has a small fitness centre located on 1st floor, has lift and a restaurant. Taxis and tuk tuk are always available outside hotel. Starbucks is only 5mins tuktuk ride away.
The rooms are hygienic and clean, beds clean and comfy, tea/coffee facility, complimentary water, safe, free wifi , use of business centre and basic toiletries are provided. The wall between bathroom and room was full of damp and had gone off color, the only minus point in the hotel and could be looked after better to maintain its reputation.
The hotel can be a bit noisy at times especially at night with some guests.
We took taxi from hotel to Colaba for Rs650. There are lots of local shops and restaurants nearby so not confined to hotel space.
I checked out on the morning of our last day at the hotel and my family was checking out in the evening, the hotel was kind enough to offer complimentary ride in hotel transport for my wife and daughter to the airport which i thought put a personal touch to our stay and experience knowing my family would be safe.
Thank you The Emerald.
I would definitely stay again if I visited Mumbai again.
