Never stayed in a dirty and more disorganised hotel. Had booked for 15 nights and left at 6, Id had enough. The stress I got each evening at the hotel ruined my holiday, not 1 peaceful nights sleep. Id stayed in a 2 star hotel called Royal Park (I also gave an honest review for that) for a few days previously, this hotel was in south Mumbai, half the star rating more then half the price and the hygiene and standards were higher then Ginger Mumbai. Disgusted that this place expects 57 per night yet can not even deliver the same standards as 2 star.
The manager Amit tried his upmost to correct things however he simply does not have the staff that want to work. All issues were repeatedly brought to his attention. Simple things like buckets for the bathroom (shower is too disgusting) are shared amongst rooms, I wouldnt have thought buckets were an expensive the hotel couldnt meet, or maybe clean showers (photos attached).
Below is a day by day overview. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone. There are road works outside which I know the hotel can not control but it just adds to misery. Reception staff speak little English (the girls, the men seemed to speak better English). Breakfast is ok, the Vivian restaurant are separate from the hotel and breakfast was a reasonable spread however unclean plates and bowls spoil things. Staff in the restaurant were polite and attentive. I got sick after eating.Options are Indian and omelette and toast. The cornflakes I am guessing are hardly eaten and were stale I explained this and was told ok only for them to the same the next day. Coffee is Nescafe in water .. gross. I miss the machine coffee and smile that Royal Park offered. The room kettle is taken away each day for cleaning, basically this means they replace the kettle youve personally cleaned yourself and replace with a dirty one or worse broken (they just switch them around lol). A lot of staff on a jolly in the day it seems. The rooms are large, oddly I had a bean bag replacing the chair, not sure who uses a bean bag in a hotel room.
approx 2:30pm check in, room 224 filthy and 2 single beds when double bedroom booked, changed to room 402 which smelt heavily of cigarette smoke and was dusty but staff insisted it had been cleaned. The rooms window was broken (shattered) and nailed closed (photos attached) so I asked for a room change. 5pm changed to room 408, I was asked to check the room before moving in, the guy from reception came with me. The toilet seat had faeces on it as did the bowl (photos attached) the bathroom as visible signs of damp. I was asked to wait a further 5 minutes (Indian timing 5minutes) whilst the toilet is cleaned. The reception guy was apologetic and agreed this was not good.
10pm the first night I found the fridge to be broken the cooling element was exposed and the maintenance guy agreed it was unsafe! (photos attached) this was replaced but an hour of my time wasted.
11:30pm 3rd call regarding air conditioning that failed to stay on, apparently the circuit trips and switches power off. I used the fan instead but Id picked a hotel with air conditioning!
TV channels do not work, the information on screen says its bad weather or a poor connection- the latter is true but no one bothered to fix this. The tv worked the next day for a few minutes only.
The double bed mattress is filthy and as the sheets are for a small bed (photos attached) you bed up sleeping on the mattress and its disgusting. I could not sleep all night as I was disgusting by the hygiene standards. Spoke to reception and even spoke to the manager Amit who said he would get this corrected ASAP.
called again regarding air conditioning and explained Id been waiting since the previous night, reception speak very limited English expect for 1 guy and he said hed send someone, no one turns up. So using the fan again. 00:50am someone finally turns up and explains its a power trip and when it happens I should call and they will switch it on! So waking up in the middle of the night in your own sweat your expected to call for a switch to be flicked. What kind of hotel is this??
10:30pm came back from a nice day out only to be stressed by our living conditions. Jumped in the shower only to discover that we had no towels, they had not been replaced. So whilst one person stood in the shower the other went to find towels !! And towels were always worn out and torn.
Reminded the reception staff about the mattress condition and bed covers reassured it would be corrected. Gayarati is the worst reception or hospitality industry person I have ever meet, rude limited English and an attitude that guests are an inconvenience.
Came back at 9:10pm to an unclean room, no change of bed covers let alone the mattress. Called reception, sole person who
Seemed overwhelmed and said he would send someone. Finally 10:30pm after 2 visits to reception the mattress is changed (photos attached), a double bed mattress is replaced with 2 small singles (you have standard single and then smaller ones) 2 small single mattress with springs visible poking out and Im left with this!! Apparently this hotel has no clean room or double bed in the entire hotel. The towels have yet to be replaced but like yesterday I think Im expected to go find towels myself!!
10:52 went to find towels myself, the room service guy said hed been called away to deliver bottles to another room and forgot our towels.
Whilst in reception there were other guests complaining about one thing or another, Id asked to speak to the manager and was told he would contact me first thing. Another guest complained about his missing laundry and he had a flight to catch and was given the managers number. Maybe as he was a male he was taken seriously. So a womens is good but then dont take her seriously. this was infuriating and reception told me I couldnt have the managers number even when I asked again and said youve just given it to him. Service is seriously missing a lot and training of staff is needed.
The bathroom has no ventilation, and when you shower the water pipes must be mixed with toilet or something as theres a nasty sewage smell and it literally brings up your dinner. Mouldy and disgusting bathroom, Ive seen better condition public toilets.
I could continue but anyone whos read this far generally get the gist of my delightful stay so Ill stop. Photos uploaded for reference.
In all my travels (and Ive visited India - Kerala, Punjab, Delhi and Europe USA and Canada)Ive never seen such disorganisation and chaos in the name of a hotel. Gingerly avoid this hotel sums but my experience, even by India standard its a nasty experience. My last few nights were spent on a fold up mattress which aggravated my bad back, informed Amit and he acted surprised however the old mattress was visibly outside the room thought out my stay.
Just loved the overall experience, Totally awsome check-in experience. The staff was helpful and gave us an early checkin. The rooms are small but nice and tidy. Bed sheets were clean and toiletries were ample enough. The room had a kettle and complimentary water bottles. The breakfast next morning was a good spread. Very near to andheri station. Equally accesible from Railway as well Airport.Nice stay overall
The hotel's location is a plus point from the point of access to the airport. But, the surroundings don't inspire much. The check in was smooth. The hold area in check-in lobby is very limited. The room is small, the bed was okay. But the shower area was hopelessly bad. The water wouldn't drain for long !
It is about 5 kms from international Airport. Approach road is slightly narrow, but manageable. Parking available, but open and its backside and not clean. Toilets are not ventilated. Restaurant is good and non vegetarian food is also served. Can be a choice for a short trip.
I have visited the hotel during 3rd week of January. The single room which was allocated was not good, the mirror was broken and was completely black from inside. The receptionist Ipshita did not have the courtesy to speak properly with the guest and upon room change suggested that the hotel was completely booked.
Thanks to the manager and the housekeeping staff Mr aravind who was quite helpful and understood the problem and changed my room but this entire incident of room change took close to 2 hrs which was not good.
You should change the mirror in the single room asap and please ask your receptionist(Ipshita) to speak properly with the guest as well.
