LOCATION AND REACHING THERE:- The hotel is located in South Mumbai, and thus very convenient if you have work in Fort, Nariman Point, Ballard Estate etc. Of course this locational advsntage also means that it far from the airport but on the flip-side not so far from Mumbai Central (Western Railway), very close to Mumbai CST (Central Railway) and convenient for local travel by train within Mumbai from Churchgate (Western Railway suburban) or Mumbai CST (Central Suburban and Harbour lines). The only problem in reaching the hotel is that it is not very well known to many drivers. A good landmark is CST. One canm come to Ballard Estate from there and then ask for further directions on reaching Ballard Estate. PARKING:- Parking is not a problem, unlike the general South Mumbai scenario. RECEPTION AND FRONT DESK:- Very polite and helpful staff. They went out of their way to guide me when I needed some assistance in locating a destination within Mumbai and were equally helpful in other matters as well. We were two of us but coming in to BOM by different flights 12 hours apart. My morning check-in was handled with the same efficiency and speed as the late night check-in of my companion. ROOM AND AMENITIES:- Good, well appointed rooms. I was on the 3rd floor and the room, though road-facing, was quiet and private. Very clean and comfortable too. The AC was super-efficient and even in the Mumbai weather, chilled the room fast. The bathroom too was clean and had all the basic + a couple of extra amenities (except a tub, which anyway I normally do not use). The in-room tea and coffee maker was very convenient too. ROOM SERVICE & RESTAURANTS:- Room service was quick and the food quite tasty. Very polite staff at the other end of the phone, both while taking orders and also while delivering the order to the room. The breakfast buffet was good but a bit more of vegetarian choices would be great. Plus, the sole vegetarian dish (apart from toast and fruits) was cutlets which got over much before the buffet closed -- maybe because it was tasty and/or lots of veg patrons and/or lesser quantity prepared. My guess would be a combination of these three reasons!! The staff fulfilled a special order for ginger tea in 5 minutes flat (even though it was not there in the buffet spread). CHECK OUT:- Handled with the same efficiency and speed as check-in. SUMMARY:- And as always, the bottom line is -- would I ask TravelGuru for a booking there again? My answer is -- Definitely yes.

We really enjoyed our stay here We really enjoyed our stay here

We got a good deal booking online and stayed at the Grand for eight nights, then toured parts of India and spent our last two nights at the Grand. WE enjoyed our stay here because it was conveniently located close enough to the main tourist hustle and bustle without being in the middle of the madness. It's located in a lovely part of Mumbai that is fairly quite and in fact on Sundays the street becomes a film set for Commercial TV shoots and even Bollywood movies. It's quite fascinating. The manager Veren Gandhi is a lovely, charming man and his staff are all very helpful and friendly. The rooms are very clean, breakfast is good and the area is quite. I could not imagine staying in the craziness of Colaba when you can stay here

It's a couple of short blocks away from the main hubbub of the station, into a quiet area. Walking up to its elegance is a homecoming feeling. The rooms are Indian moderate non-modern luxury and comfort in a charming layout facing trangular inner balconies, giving a community feel, but noiseless. Friendly staff to help you with working out the safe or TV etc. Lots of space in our family room and linked bathroom. Lucky, because we were all suffering a belly bug. The beds were so comfy and we did not want to leave. They cleaned the room every day if we left a key, or were inside (sick). Breakfast was quite the same as everywhere, very hospitable with smiling staff; a pleasant dining experience with plenty to eat: Indian and Western. Nothing horrible in this charming hotel, just reliable good old-fashioned comfort and a feeling of safety. I really liked it. Just one thing: one street nearby is home to street dwellers, and I did not feel completely safe walking down it at night. Easy to avoid by walking down the other main street.

Would stay here again if the hotel was transparent about the room descriptions Would stay here again if the hotel was transparent about the room descriptions

PROS: I love the quiet location and the classy curb appeal. It has an old-world appearance. The lobby is bright, modern and tasteful. Finally, a glass-walled shower and bedside reading lamps. The kettle and water bottles are also a nice touch. CONS: I reserved a Deluxe Double room, which the Grand Hotel website describes as "This room features views of the ocean (partial or full) from the comfort of a balcony." That is a total lie. The manager, Mr/ Gandhi, was as nice as could be, but wouldn't concede the point and refused to look at their website. Instead he selected what he implied was nicer than what we paid for. The distinction was lost on us. There was absolutely no balcony and the a.c. obscured the window, making it a darkish room. In the end, we would recommend this hotel and probably stay here again, but only with a written confirmation about the room.

I picked this hotel for the location, but most of all I wanted a Heritage style hotel within our budget. We were not disappointed at all. Lovely large rooms, comfortable beds and helpful friendly staff. Breakfast was good with Western & Indian choices. I would definitely stay here again.

Good hotel to stay in. Very near CST station Mumbai. Rooms are spacious, cleanliness well maintained. Only issue is food, as the buffet breakfast spread is unsatisfactory.. the same chicken sausages.. and egg in different forms!!!
