the magic of Colaba the magic of Colaba

by krishna108it on April 15, 2016

If you are looking for the colonial magic of Colaba, an handy position on the seaside, a helpful, polite and friendly hotel staff so this is the guest house for you. Rooms are pretty small but the ratio price/quality in the area is almost unbeatable. In the hot days you can rely on AC. Amit is a great and pleasent manager and he is really keen to quick fixing any problem you can have in Mumbai or to give tips abour anything you may want to know. The whole staff will try his best to give you a comfortable stay. The surrounding area is rich of restaurants, spas, shops etc. and the locals are very friendly and smiley. I had a really great time here!

Do not stay here! Do not stay here!

The worst place we have stayed in India! The rooms are absolutely shocking with no ventilation. No hot water even though they say there is and no in room toilets. The beds were stained from when we got there and harder than a rock and the pillows were even worse. Ants and cockroaches covered the floor and the beds too. The staff and manager were exceedingly rude and offered little help about anything. I asked for a towel 6 times before having to find them myself. The staff are so loud at night and yell constantly until late. The manager was a rude and arrogant pig! Although prices in Mumbai are all quite expensive look around elsewhere or pay more find somewhere better. Please do yourself a favour and do not stay in the crappiest hotel in India! It's disgusting!

Do not stay here...place is terrible!!! And they charge higher prices to foreigners...trying to make a quick buck. Do not stay here...place is terrible!!! And they charge higher prices to foreigners...trying to make a quick buck.

When we reached Mumbai, we had no confirmed reservation at any hotel and a Mr Siddik arranged this place. We were told the room costs 6000 rupees per night to accommodate 5 people sharing. When we saw accommodation, we were terribly disappointed as the room was not worth the 6000 rupees per night. There was 2 double beds in a room with no windows. The bed sheets were dirty and pillow cases torn. The bathroom facility was also very poor. Due to us travelling for 23 hours via train from Jaipur to Mumbai, we were tired and decided to leave our bags in the room in the meantime while we looked for alternate accommodation. We did speak to the reservation clerk and explained our discontent with the room. We had to supply our passports to the clerk in the meantime as our bags were in the room. We did find alternate accommodation in the next 30 minutes and went back to collect our luggage. The reservation clerk refused to supply our passports and advised we have to stay a minimum of 1 night for a minimum price of 5000 rupees. This is ridiculous as we did not use the room and our bags were kept for less than an hour. While in a heated argument with the clerk, we realised we were been taken for a ride as we foreigners and they just tryna make a quick buck from us. Finally we had to pay 4000 rupees just to get our passports and leave. Please avoid this place by all means...If you're a tourist, they will try to make more money our of you and the place is not worth it.

Basic but clean with great wifi Basic but clean with great wifi

Everything in Mumbai is expensive and for 1500 rupees you expect a bit more. In saying that, the hotel was very clean. Probably the cleanest place we have stayed at in our month in India. The staff cleaned all day. Our room had a double bed, cold shower and a toilet. no sink though, which always seems odd. The air is a bit stale because smoking is allowed in the rooms. The staff were friendly enough and helped when you had questions. The wifi was fantastic in the lobby and was free. The location is great. Easy to walk to many food options, shopping and the India gate!! Possibly wasn't the best option but definetly wasn't horrible. I would consider it again if I came back to Mumbai.

Cheap but really bad staff Cheap but really bad staff

It's hard to find a room around Colaba for decent price, and they attract you with free wifi, however it is really noisy and staff behaviour is far below poor. AC doesn't work but you pay for it. They demand payment in advance right when you check in.
