Talking of luxury and fine dining experiences, Mumbai is spread with plethora of options to choose from ,one of them being the very fine five star hotels! What better than the one having the easiest location not only for Mumbaikars but for short time business travellers or flight halters. Yes, iam talking of the very fine orchid hotel ,located in ville parle close to our very own domestic airport( 5mins walking distance from the airport) Like any other 5 star property, orchid hotel has its 24 hr running fnb outlet called - 'boulevard' - their 24hr coffee shop! We were lucky enough to be invited on the very occasion of the 'world chocolate day' ! We were here for their Sunday buffet from 12-4pm and trust me we had no idea we were on a roller coaster ride with the dessert treats ! Treat to the eyes display of the dessert section was a lavish delectable chocolate/cakes /pastries spread.
Initially our eyes were welcomed by the beautiful fountain like a cylindrical raindrop formation and later by the staff who directed us towards the 1st floor for boulevard. I was awestruck with the brilliance shown with the presentation of the entrance towards boulevard, which could be noticed though the big elegant mirror kept close to the staircase. Upon entering we noticed the restaurant in a square shape seating arrangement with each table getting the attrium view! One end of the section was full of chocolate and dessert buffet counter . And the other end was for live chat counter , salads, mocktails ,alcohol, snacks and main course ,having the variety of Chinese ,Indian and Italian cuisines to choose from. Also with live pasta and egg station!
We started off with some of their snacks:-
Mattar and Ali tikki
For main course we had :-
Mix of both Indian and Italian .
Personally I liked the Italian more, the breads were very fresh , focaccia and soft buns with butter and my sunny side up did justice to my palate. I had asked for pesto sauce pasta ,but since their were two options ,so I opted for the white sauce pasta and it turned out to be equally good.
Since it was a chocolate day (7th July) , the dessert counter was an entire buffet section decorated with chocolate-made show pieces placed in every corner ! Having 3 unique sections:-
1 of the section included five ,1kg unique flavoured cakes to choose from, my favourite among them was blueberry chocolate cake!
The 2nd section had wide variety of chocolates to choose from:-
Jam filled chocolate
Dry fruit chocolate
Strawberry flavoured chocolate
Mango flavoured chocolate
Orange flavoured chocolate
All were shaped uniquely, some like the half of eggs and the others like a brick and some like roundals and some like barfi !
The 3rd section had wide variety of beautifully done, detailedly decorated pastries to choose from :-
Dark chocolate mousse
Orange chocolate cake
Crunchy chocolate cake
Caramel chocolate pastry
My absolute stunners were the trio mousse , orange chocolate and caramel chocolate pastry !
Manager Kalpesh and server Pranay were very courteous and took good care of us during our meal and made our experience with boulevard very pleasant.
Overall a great buffet place ,can't wait to try out it's midnight buffet too someday ! Loved the hospitality, the vibe of the place , brunch buffet for about rs 2000/- plus taxes with alcohol ,it's a decent deal for a business meeting , a perfect Sunday brunch to pamper your bae !
It was Sunday and we decided to visit Boulevard to enjoy sunday brunch over there. This place is situated in The Orchid hotel in vile Parle and also very close to domestic airport.
Boulevard is situated on first floor of the hotel. The ambience is superb with mild refreshing fragrance and beautiful decor. The place is open all day. The food is soo amazing just like the ambience.
Every dish from starters to dessert was so delicious, fresh and presentation was so perfect that it made my mood happy. They have so many options available in chaats, main courses that you will be confused what to eat and what to skip.
The chaat section had many north Indian chaats like dahi vada, kachori, sev puri, paani puri, bhel and also corn chaat. We tried corn dahi chaat, sev puri and also paani puri. They all were very tasty.
There were many types of salads available. A different section which had many healthy varieties of salads like squid sesame salad, stuffed sundried tomato chicken roulade, Chicken litchi salad and many more.
Beside the salad section they had a section where dahi bhaala, Cheese burger, vegetable burger, dhokla, bhakarwadi, salsa nachos, sprouts were kept.
There were also veg Monchow and chicken soups available. The main course had Indian, Chinese, continental food in both veg and non veg options.
There was live counter for pizza nad Frankie. The pizza and beetroot tikka and Panner tikka served on table were very delicious.
The fried rice and hakka noodles were just amazing. We also tried methi malai sabji, paneer jalfrezi, chakka curry with plain roti and steem rice and different types of pickles.
The dessert section was so huge. That we were really very much confused. They had many types of veg and non veg fruit cakes and pastries and also donuts, cup cakes, halwas, sewiyaan, and also some Indian sweets.
So I love Sunday brunches and was more than happy when I got the chance to visit Boulevard on the first floor of The Orchid Hotel just beside the domestic airport.
So it's a five star hotel and the ambiance is as sucj, very lavish and royal, so the complete first floor is theirs with a very water drop at the centre, which makes the ambiance absolutely stunning!
'Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or maybe brunch, tea, or midnight snack it doesn't matter. Any time any day just walk into our exclusive cafe in Mumbai for a feast or a bite.' A line straight from their website. It's a coffee shop that's open 24x7 to serve you amazing food.
So the sunday brunch buffet was seriously one of the best we've visited so far. It was absolutely massive, with so many things to eat, I was confused what to have. They have a lot of options including Indian, Asian, and continental in both veg and non veg sections.
We started off with the chaat counter, even their chaat counter had like 10+ options. We had the classic sev puri, paani puri and we also tried their kachori and corn chaat. Corn chaat was something new, it had corn and the usual dahi chaat things. Loved it.
Then the starters served on the table included paneer tikka, beetroot tikki and veg pizza. The paneer was a bit hard to chew but absolutely delicious. The beetroot tikki was just so scrumptious we ended up ordering more of it. The pizza also was absolutely delicious with a delicious sauce and good toppings.
Their main course section also has a lot fo good options, for Indian they had 2-3 types of gravies, chapatis, chinese included a curry, noodles and rice, and the continental also had a very good options. I decided to have a light meal, tried and loved the continental options. Totally in love with this place so far.
So this place has the top spot on my list for the best dessert spread in any buffet. There were around 15 different things to try, including a lot of cakes amd a lot of good veg options. I wont bore you with the names just take my word for it, it was absolutely delicious and I just fell in love with the place!
I was the one who have 5 stars to this hotel in 2017. But when I visited last month. It was such a shocking experience. The rooms were stinking. The linen was dirty. The pillows were in the worst condition. The staff was lazy. The furniture was stinking. I felt as if i entered in to some old room that has not been used for decades.
The food quality is so mediocre.
Someone needs to tell the management it is the time to wake up from the deep sleep
great place. close to the domestic and international airport. Great & caring staff. good food and great restaurants . Good bed, clean towels, quality toiletries , air conditioner in good working condition, most TV channels available for viewing
