Excellent experience as always Excellent experience as always

by pateldipti on January 22, 2017

recently stayed at our favorite hotel in Mumbai and had a lovely time as usual. The staff are very attentive, friendly right from where the car stops and it spreads all over the hotel. It always feels like coming back home when at St Regis Mumbai. Staff like Neeraj who is always there to make things happen and butler Alisha who was so welcoming and walked us all the way to the room is magical. Also, housekeeping staff who made our room daily was very helpful and attentive. the small touches they do are out of the world. Food is great, our favorite restaurant Sahib room and the breakfast at seven kitchens. Amazing property in the center of city, everything is so easily accessible like mall and the best shops and designer brands. Will visit soon.

I stayed their for more than 15 days and thus had the experiencing the hotel in full, including the Diwali celebrations. The cleanliness, food, and service is great. Do not miss that best buffet breakfast spread. You will be spoilt for choices. They did a short Diwali party for the in house guests and it was beautiful. One issue that i faced was with the parking of my car and some pen drive etc, found in my car as some person who was supposed to part the car might have decided to listen to music or take a long nap in my car. I reported it to the management, who took action to avoid a repeat. I have no conmplaints.

Superb! Superb!

St Regis is by far once of the best hotels to stay at. Staff is friendly and helpful specially Mahesh from front office, Nilesh from concierge. Rooms are luxurious and absolutely spotless! The suite is spacious, well maintained. The butler service is amazing. I would like to thank Mr. Kumar who made our stay so persnalized & comfortable. It was an experience to have. Great rooms. Super restaurant choices. my family had a great times & looking forward to see you all soon on our next visit. Kudos to the team!

On the face of it, the St. Regis appears to be a luxurious hotel with tasteful decor and generally good service. However, my companion and I made some concerning observations. Upon arrival, the porter did not greet us and no one came to open my door. This was not the deal-breaker however we mostly used Uber taxis because theres a certain guarantee that you wont get ripped off by thieving taxi drivers and we did get the impression that the reception at the hotel depends on the kind of car you arrive in. On our first nights stay, we found a big cockroach in the room. This was the deal-breaker. For the amount of money we paid to stay at this reputable hotel brand, it is shocking to say the least to find a cockroach (and who knows how many more there were roaming around) in the room. The reception and concierge take a very very long time to answer the phone; the elevators take a long time and they were almost always full which was inconvenient because it could take you 5-8 minutes to get from one floor to the restaurant. My companion and I were flabbergasted and actually speechless when one staff member referred to another staff member as the black one. This was in reference to his colleagues skin colour. We found this offensive and inappropriate. The location is not really good because you need a taxi to go pretty much anywhere except for the mall next door where prices are extremely exhorbitant. There was a mix up with our luggage and the porter did not give us a code/voucher for the bag which caused unnecessary stress. With the exception of the hummus spread which was amazing, the buffet dinner was average for the price we paid. At breakfast, a request for a toasted cheese sandwich, a rather simple dish was met with a long and detailed discussion among no less than three staff to decide whether this was possible to do which for a 5 star hotel in my view is ridiculous. On the positives: Vijay, the housekeeping attendant was very sweetand helpful. The shower and shower pressure was good. The in-room dining veg burger and fries was very tasty. Some general remarks and observations: There are various national and local taxes levied by hotels and restaurants which end up having a strong incremental effect on your final bill. In other words, what you think youre paying for is vastly different from what you end up paying. What is very concerning is the lack of conformity in how these taxes are levied as some establishments will levy certain taxes and some will not and there is no explanation as to the inconsistency. This is surely detrimental to tourism in India as it was certainly our view that once all these extra costs are taken into account, India will no longer be seen as a value-for-money tourism destination. It is possible that tourists/guests are being taxed twice. Upon having a meal at a hotel restaurant one pays the various taxes that are levied for that particular bill. Then upon checkout, one is then subject to a further tax on food and beverage. It would seem therefore prudent to rather pay the restaurant bill at said restaurant rather than simply signing it onto your room.
