The Maharaja Experience

This is my second time staying at the Taj Palace. The first time I stayed here on my wedding night, now I celebrated my wife's birthday here and it was made special and sweeter by the Taj hospitality. The view was outstanding, the comfort of the bed was exquisite and the service was incomparable. Special thanks to Faisal who made it special by helping me decorate the room for my wife as a surprise. The breakfast was outstanding and we felt safe with the sanitisation everywhere. Thanks again for the wonderful Maharaja experience.
Mismanaged & Disappointing

Pre Check In - We booked the Apollo Suite & the voucher had a guaranteed upgrade to a City View Executive Room, so I spoke to the reservation team saying we would like to have a Sea View Room & if possible do upgrade us to any other higher category if available. I was told about a differential tariff charge for a "guaranteed" upgrade, but as discussed I never wanted it assured. So then my upgrade become subject to availability on the date of check in. And this was clearly discussed & reconfirmed by me over the phone. Infact even the morning a day prior, I called to asked about an early check in & possibly, I was told the same thing. But to my surprise, late evening on the same day, i.e day prior to my check in, I received saying upgrade is only possible if you pay, so I discussed whatever was mentioned to me clearly, but unfortunately there was no acknowledgement. I was asked if there are any call recordings or evidence of the same. At that time I asked if possible please cancel my booking because I don't trust you guys any more. Unfortunately my free cancellation window was over after 2pm & the call was late evening around 7pm
We anyway decided to go, as there wasn't any refund possible. We were allotted a room on the highest floor and there were some decorations and a pastry as we were celebrating my wife's birthday. That was great
Room - Views were fantastic. There was a small spider web we noticed on day of checkout, and we informed the duty manager at checkout about it
Meals - We had taken all meals inclusive. Our lunch was luckily peaceful as we took at about 12.45-1, when the restaurant was not packed. At lunch we were brought the bill even without being asked if we're done. Taj Hospitality or fast food restaurant pressure of handling crowd ?
When we were done I saw a long que outside Shamiana & there was no social distancing maintained. I feared the same during dinner so I called the guest services requesting for meals in room, but I was told thats not possible & if you opt you will be charged seperately. So then I asked where can I go dine where there will be space. I was directed to go to Crystal Room & once we reached it was so so chaotic. From the one small entry door, there were people charging in and out. It was terribly mismanaged. The decor of the place was like a wedding setup meal & we didn't like the vibe. We waited & went back to Shamiana for our meal. The food there was great.
Breakfast the next day - We reached Shamiana at about 9.30-10 and it was insanely crowded, so I asked the reception about where would I get place. I was rudely shown the timing card by one of the guys, saying it is written 9.30-10.30 extremely busy. All this while I had no issue in waiting but I had a question about checkout time, I was told 11 am is last and pretty much it was my lookout. I asked for the duty manager then and luckily we got an extension till 1. But don't you feel, if the timings are 7.30-10.30, a guest can chose whatever times he pleases & this incident which first place was not expected at all, atleast for a stature of Taj Hotels
Service - It was Overall very slow, they weren't equipped to manage close to full occupancy
Overall - At the first place (pre arrival), when my trust was broken I wanted to cancel the booking but unfortunately no refunds. In a small one day getaway, I didn't want to waste time discussing issues with your management in detail, as it would just spoil the mood of a break, which it did anyway, ut well.
I did speak about my issues at the end of the stay to Mr Rahil said a sorry for the issues, and said please come again but after experiencing all this do you really think a guest would like to come again. I don't think so. Unfortunately that's all that was told to us at the end of such a dissappointing stay. Least to say we are Taj Inner Circle Members The brand of Taj Hospitality has completely changed for the worse for us.

I am writing this email to express my gratitude and appreciation for my recent stay at the Iconic Taj Mahal Palace and Towers, Mumbai.
I was travelling with my wife and son and their cousins and it was their first time visiting this beautiful hotel, to think that this was the first hotel under the Taj Umbella fills my heart with joy because it absolutely lives up to the name of the flagship and is a clear example of if the roots of a tree are strong , other elements flourish.
We were appointed a beautiful room which was extremely well kept and just oozed royalty from all corners.
The cuisines that were prepeared by the chefs were out of this world, we were able to taste Lebanese, Chinese , North Indian cuisine all in one visit which was a wonderfuly experience. The most important thing Id like to point out here is that my wife who was there along with her relatives who all consume jain food which is why they never eats out because we believe that its difficult to get such accuracy and quality at restaurants but the jain food prepared by your team was so fabulous that my wife was spellbound and could not believe the fact that it came from a hotel kitchen, it was outstanding. Please convey a big thank you to the master Chef Amit Chowdhury along with Chef Surendra Khambra and Raghu Deora, they did an absolutely fab job hands in hands with Mr. Sumeet Singh F and B Manager who ensured at each and every step that everything was nothing less than perfect, he has lead this F and B team wonderfully and deserves an applause.
Also my experience at the Sea Lounge was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed the street food concept they carried out, it was really authentic and different, a big thank you to Kevin and Jagdeesh for the experience.
It was my sons first visit to the chambers after being enrolled in the wonderful club and the experience was no less than breathtaking for him. He absolutely loved the class, ambience and facilities that the Chambers had to offer, a big thank you to Natasha and Amir for the same. I would also like to mention that they prepared a wonderful cake to welcome my son in chambers with non-alcoholic champagne.
My butler Mr. Vinor Bhuwad was a clear embodiment of all the Taj Values and was exceptional when it came to any task assigned to him, hes definitely an asset to the company.
