Loved my stay here. The rooms are comfy and spacious while the view from the sea-facing room is simply outstanding. The location is perfect and there are quite a few eateries, shopping areas nearby to explore. Or simply take a walk at the sea-side. The pool area is quite inviting with the warm sun and the breeze. Breakfast at Fraingipani was pretty elaborate with the staff taking good care of the guests. Truly a five-start stay!
Stayed here because I needed two adjoining rooms ... why? because they will only let 3 people stay in a room so when travelling with my wife and 2 children we have to get 2 rooms. That is everywhere in Mumbai it's crazy !
Anyway back to the hotel, Location is great in Colaba - South Mumbai. Check in was excellent, we were met at the door taken straight to our rooms where check in formalities were completed. They sent up some tea and juice and were very accomodating. The room itself was good, not that big or luxurious as the oberoi but good enough. Bathrooms were good quality but a little on the small side.
Breakfast - good quality and selection BUT always a huge queue where you have to wait nearly 20 minutes for a table, that is not acceptable.
Room service - did not order
Restaurants - Too expensive, even by London standards.
Overall a good hotel but spoiled by the breakfast queue's and expense for what you get.
We stayed at the property twice during the last month. We stayed in the ocean view room at the upper floor. The view was awesome. The breakfast was excellent and I enjoyed so many delicacies over the next 7 days. The staff is super efficient and courteous. During the second stay we were given a upgradation to a suite which would remain memorable for the time to come.I would look forward to my next stay in this wonderful hotel.
Since we were not able to plan a vacation in 2017, so decided to take a break from the daily grind and stay within Mumbai only. Booked this hotel, for a 2 night break (for folks living in suburbs, even South Mumbai is a break :-) !! )
The hotel no doubt has an excellent location, and we had booked the Ocean View room, which had a nice view. If you have visited enough 5 star properties, you can imagine, most of them seem to follow a certain template, the rooms are of a certain type, bathrooms of a certain type. This was no different. Just like any other 5 star hotel. That from a certain perspective is a good thing, but also what makes me give it 4 stars. There was absolutely nothing special about this place.
Rooms are smaller than pretty much every property i have stayed in till now, though being Mumbai this is expected. Prices are high, especially we found the food there to be too expensive. Though yes, their American breakfast was really really good. We didn't have too many other meals in the hotel, since we were trying out different places to eat in south mumbai, something we can't do with out daily routines, and in Mumbai traffic travelling from suburbs to town, just to try a restaurant....is a no go for us.
Check in process was nice, but i was a bit disappointed in the check out process. Maybe they were busy, but they didn't have anyone available to pick the luggage from the room (unless we wait for 15-20 mins), then there was a long wait to get the car, and nobody available to put the bags in the car. it was all self help, which is fine by me, but then make everything self help like it happens in the US. And yes, our request for a late checkout (by 1 hour) was denied, instead they gave us 30 mins. But then they were okay making us wait for 20 more minutes for someone to get the luggage, i didn't really understand that. Basically it felt like you are checking out, we don't care anymore, we have enough people waiting to check in, you have paid us, now please pick u your stuff and leave !!
The location was great. All the staff we were in contact with were really friendly and provided an excellent service. The place has class. The breakfast was very lavish with lots of choice. Will recommend to return in the future.
