The hotel is located in a very beautiful and tranquil setting. We found the staff to be exceedingly hospitable and they made us feel very welcome. Our accommodation was a pretty two bedroom cottage which was comfortable, pleasantly decorated and clean. We stayed for two nights on a bed and breakfast basis and there was plenty of selection of dishes for breakfast. We also ate our evening meals there, we chose to have the buffet which gave us excellent opportunity to sample Indian cuisine.
You don't expect to find such a gem in Munnar but the Mountain Resort was a pleasant surprise. There are no sightseeing places nearby but it is a pitstop on your way when visiting tea plantations and/or the Tea Museum, or else you could stay for a few days to relax. The resort has a lovely infinity pool which is lit up at night. They have a Spa which offers massages and other treatments. They also offer cooking lessons.
The cottages are a distance from the main building and you have to climb a few stairs to get to the top of the hill, alternatively, there are cottages on the lower level. The cottages are well equipped and are ideal for families with children. There is an upstairs room with a wall mounted TV and a downstairs room without a TV. Each room has its own bathroom. There are no nearby restaurants so you can have all your meals at the resort. The manager and staff are very friendly and helpful. Staff helped to carry suitcases to the cottages. Wi-Fi is available in the rooms and a code is given for each device.
The food is outstanding and beautifully presented. Breakfast and the buffet are good.
We stayed in this property for 3 nights and we had an amazing stay here.
Staff here was very hospitable and welcoming. Whenever you walk inside the resort, you will find any member of staff crossing you will greet you with smile.
Rooms were very clean and equipped with all the required things.
Food served here was very tasty and delicious. They had a wide spread for breakfast as well as dinner and the chef and restaurant manager was willing to serve anything else that we needed apart from the menu.
Gaming and activity room was very good with carrom, table tennis, chess, pool table (chargeable). Gym was also well equipped.
We stayed in two room cottage no. 239 which was situated at the top end of the resort and had an awesome sunrise view from the room. We recommend to opt for this cottage no. 239 if its available.
Overall, our stay was very pleasant and enjoyable. A big thank you to the hotel and restaurant staff to make our stay memorable.
This is the best property one can get in Munnar. Extremely beautiful place and very cooperative staff. Keep in mind while booking two bedroom cottage that there is no wall mount tv installed in lower floor bedroom. Try to book a room nearby restaurant and swimming pool area because walking inside the resort could be very tiring. There is no good restaurant nearby so have your all meals at the resort only. Few good places for sightseeing nearby. Stay here and relax only to get the maximum out of it. Thanks.
This was one of the places my family stayed during our mini-tour of the Western Ghats and it was our second favourite. 23,000 rupees for one nights b& b for 4 people. Note that although the address is Munnar, it takes a while to drive there. 45 minutes?
On arrival I was a little disappointed because we had done an amazing drive through the mountains and got so high that - at last - it was quiet. Then we joined a bigger road, found ourselves in a large village, and there was the resort.
However, we really enjoyed our stay here. The small houses were cleverly arranged so that you had privacy to sit on your little balcony or patio. Lots of trees and plants, many labelled. Peaceful, with birds tweeting away happily.
In the house there is a sitting room with steps leading up to one bedroom and bathroom, and another set of steps leading down to a second bedroom and bathroom. This gives you space and privacy.
The bathrooms are well-designed with surfaces, hooks and plenty of hot water. The bedrooms just had a wardrobe and one bedside table, so I moved a second side table into ours as well as a chair because there was only one narrow shelf to put things on. Hooks and shelves would have been far more useful than a wardrobe.
We had a reasonably-priced buffet dinner with some entertainment, which wasnt too loud. The dinner was great. A good variety of dishes were offered. There was a smiling chef baking naan breads in a tandoor, another one making pancakes, and another one grilling vegetable kebabs. You could buy beer and wine. Breakfast was also excellent, being busy but very well-organised: vadas, sambar, dosas, omelettes, porridge, fruit, cakes, etc. etc.
I'd happily stay here again.
Driver accommodation is free, first come get the beds. No food is offered but there are plenty of places to get food in the village.
